- Residents of Sarasota, Florida, have been impressed with the piano skills of Donald Gould, a homeless man who is living on the streets.
Gould, a 51-year-old Marine veteran, learned to play the piano as a kid and studied music education at Spring Arbor University in Michigan. After his wife passed away in 1998, he developed a substance abuse problem.

I use to work in a homeless shelter. I had a guy there who use to play piano during the chapel services. He sounded like Mozart. Everyone has a story.

I was homeless for over a year-and-a-half let me tell you it's not easy and to see the talent in this man is just amazing bless him and I hope he finds his tracks in life

I can relate so much to whats been said I to was homeless but unlike a lot of society today they just need an understanding not criticising just remember you are only one pay check away from the same position

Could be an underlying personality disorder (Borderline Personality Disorder) or addiction (aka Narcissistic Personality Disorder) or even a genuine mental illness like Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia. Also could be PTSD from some kind of trauma.

This man is a veteran. He served in the marines. Its sad to see how bad our veterans get treated after serving but still yet find a escape no matter the situation. God bless him. I hope he got his life together and dies a happy man.
The streets aren't a safe place for a vet. My dad served 25 years and we fly the flag but he still battles even me, PTSD is no joke, he's a big man and it's up to me from preventing him hurting family members when he go's into an uncontrollable rage. I had to take him down by tackle and ground and pound him. The psychiatrist are slobby and slow and dismissive. But everyday I deal with the consequences of my dad joining a war that injured/incapacitated him.

10 years ago while driving a cab in Santa Barbara at 3:00 am a homeless man played from classical to contemporary for over an hour, and killed it. No one around, just him and the piano. He looked so happy. Hopefully down but not out.

I know when everything else seemed to be falling apart, a man can always return to the one thing he remembers since childhood..the beauty and relaxing music tunes.

This is truly the most beautiful story I've heard. @ Cathy, yes he was discovered, he was reunited with his son after 18 years, attended rehab, was asked to plat the National Anthem and now in studios recording. I cried like a baby watching Donald story from beginning to present. Let us not forget it was Donald who put in the hard work in going to rehab. God is good!

Usually I'm on hard rock music and songs although I did have preference on most heart-warming music that spread stories and meaning. As long as its not christian or love songs, at least songs that perferably have tragic but striking ones is Ok for me.
I never even heard this tune before today, and was enchanted by it after the first few notes! Had to check out the original by Styx of course, but THIS, was just played so well. I hope the guy is doing alright, and fell on better times.
