Today I must say goodbye to my 26 year old nephew and godson who was senselessly slain earlier this week. This video has sustained me since I got the news. Thank you Alfie for giving me the strength to get through today.
It helped me get through the death of my beloved dad last year. Thank you for this beautiful version of that song. It still made me cry a bit but be hopeful and positive too.
We had this played at my mother's funeral 3 weeks ago 😢. Yesterday I had the pleasure of hearing it, live at Alfie's Homecoming tour.... Unfortunately my phone ran out of memory while recording it.
The last song that Warren Zevon wrote. He knew that he was dying from mesothelioma. It was the final track of his last album. Part of the song had to recorded at his home because Warren was too poorly to go to the studio. Definitely my funeral song.
I’ve been combing UA-cam for covers of this song. This along with the one done by a group called “The Wailin’ Jenny’s” are the stand outs. Outstanding and very moving.

It's lovely, but the range just doesn't do justice to your beautiful voice. Please don't stop doing classical as well because while anyone could sing THIS song, you have an instrument for the ages.
I dunno...Warren sings it because he's dying. Every cover I've seen although good doesn't capture his pain and sincere emotions. I'm sorry .good try but its not the same.
