You could get 400hp from a 1000cc sport bike motor with a turbo on it. Plus its lighter and I think it would fit easier. I would love to see the K20 swapped into it. I just dont think it would fit.
I mean, I love that car, i'm just saying if it did hit a deer (or any animal of that matter) it would be very unfortunate... My dad's Avenger was hit by a deer (Ironically) on the way to get other bodil-y damage fixed on his vehicle from other animals. Lol...

David, there already is a successor to the Beat in Japan called the S660. Honda toyed with the idea of using a larger motor and importing it to the U.S but it seems unlikely at this point.
I have owned one of these in the UK for 9 years. I have 2 other desirable vehicles but my friends want to drive my Beat. Mine's Milano red. My test for desirability is to place a vehicle's keys on the bonnet (hood) and see what goes. Actually I get asked before I do it so I know and conclude...... Glad you are a convert!
The S2000 has a chance of coming back. Honda is slowly getting back to their roots. They brought back the NSX AND they brought back the Civic hatchbacks (with 1.5L Turbos mind you),
I was doing a bit of research as well to, importing it straight from Japan now that the 25 year rule has well passed on these 91’s are way cheaper. I got quoted for a low mileage example $2,800 with shipping to California.

The voice at the beginning is saying カードを入れて下さい (Kaado o irete kudasai), which means "Please insert card." It's coming from the ETC system that is installed in the car, probably as an aftermarket. ETC is a highway toll payment system, similar to EZ Pass in the U.S. And as others have stated, the Honda S660 is the follow up to the Beat. They are EVERYWHERE over here. There is a garage down the road from me that specializes in Honda S660 and Daihatsu Copen tuning. Pretty neat!
Glad you reviewed this car, I’ve known about it since childhood thanks to Gran Turismo lol! Although I couldn’t find many videos on UA-cam about it, it got to the point I had to use Google Translate from English to Japanese just to search for videos of on UA-cam. I will be getting this in the future!

Part of what I love about these cars is that because they make so little power, you can be at WOT everywhere, all the time. Good thing these make a very lovely noise then.
Yugo has 155/70R13 tire. There are still Yogos in US. Also I have Hyundai Atos, same tire as mentioned above. 1l, 4 cylinder, 60hp, 6000rpm redline. I drove it to Greece to seaside with 5 of us, roadtrip every year. Car can hit 160km/h (100mph) and it feels ok at tgat speed. 840ks is weight.
They did make a successor to this. It's called the Honda S660. While technically a successor to the older S-series (e.g S800), it still is VERY similar to the Beat. The S660 is basically a baby NSX and looks pretty awesome.
it's really an oversized go kart. been driving mine over 10 years now, it was yellow then repainted to mint green, now its orange and has been converted to left hand drive, engine is bone stock. still smiling the same way you are every time i get in (except if it rains really hard, the rubber on the soft top are old).

I remember that car from the first Gran Turismo on PS1 its been in all the GT games it's quite fast when fixed up and handles like a go kart love those cars as well as other JDM Kei cars.
You have to check out the 1970 Honda n600 I just picked one up that I'm restoring it has a 38hp 2 cylinder motorcycle engine in it! And it has 4 seats! It's pretty sweet!
You'd be surprised on how 3 cylinders sound from the outside. At low rpm's they're a little farty, but at the higher end, they sound like a triumph motorcycle.

The Lane Motor Museum in Nashville TN has one of these and 1 of I think 2 or 3 new s660's in the US. They also have a Honda Life Van, a Nissan Pao, a Honda City turbo WITH the trunk motorcycle, and a ton of other cool stuff. Like the US military LARK (Google it) Mostly euro stuff though. David you should go there.
