The knot I learned to use is just a loop you put the limu through instead of the line itself. It is more like a cow hitch, but only a single loop at a time. Its good you have memories of the good old days. I remember as a child picking opihi off the cement pier walkway at kukuiula harbor. Now you're lucky to even see small ones clinging to the sides. Damn! That’s so crazy I remember after Hurricane iniki I went to Kawaii and had opihi all over the place it’s so sad to see the rocks looking so bare.
