You're right. I've checked and it says on wikipedia that one of the people to cover this was "Christy Moore in his 1984 album Ride On, who sang it to a melody inspired by Gordon Lightfoot’s famous 1976 song “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald“. I' ve just listened to it and liked it a lot. Thanks for the recommendation and the kind words. P.S. I first heard the song in 1997-98 at a concert by a Hungarian band, namely irish Rovers, in a pub. Upon purchasing the album I found most of it mesmerising and it opened me in many ways to Celtic music. Have a great weekend Joe.
