The Yamaha MT-15 was launched in India in March 2019, at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom). At the Buddh International Circuit, the MT-15’s performance didn’t impress much, but does that change in the real world? We put the MT-15 to a real-world test, to see how it fares in terms of city performance, highway ability, fuel-efficiency, pillion comfort and, of course, in terms of handling, ride quality and factors of living with it. We also tell you how the obvious comparison - MT-15 vs R15 V3 - pans out, and if, set against bikes like the Bajaj Pulsar NS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, KTM 125 Duke and more, the MT really makes sense at all.

I own a MT 15. Have done about 4000kms. Finished a tour of 1200 kms too. Here's the summary.
Pros:
1. It's crazy fun. The engine really revs your heart.
2. The handling is just superb.
3. The amount of attention you get is just crazy. At least one person checks out the bike in a signal.
4. Very little heating in city traffic.
5. Performance is really great. I had no issues with maintaining even 120s during the tour.
Cons:
1. The pillion seat is really uncomfortable for long distances. But it's OK ish for short rides in city. Like 30kms or something.
2. Tank capacity is only 10ltrs.
3. The single channel ABS can be a con if you want it. I have more than 1 Lakh kms experience and ride relatively safe. I feel a single channel ABS is enough for a 150cc bike.
I have never missed the additions which the international one has. The extra 10k or something is very well worth it guys. There is always a price for being different from the rest.
I have MT15 which is just so much fun to ride and give very good mileage too 😎🤘😁😬

@@brabbit2325 pretty good , low beam is not that bright but brighter than halogen bulbs , high beam light spread is spot on and bright.

Does it the size make it look like a toy or somethin. I haven't actually seen it close. Plus, how's the pillion seat? Is it suited for elder ladies?
@@brabbit2325 The headlight assembly makes the bike look small , but other than that the bike is actually in a decent size and width . You have a great trip between the tanks, if you are Cornering . If used to own a Gixxer before this bike it's more comfortable than Gixxer .

bro..i too enjoy mine one....but its around three months since i'm riding but the mileage isn't going beyond 25 in city....the service center guys keeps repeating the lame statement that it depends on driving style...but i guess there might be some another issue. ANYONE WHO CAN GIVE ANY IDEA??

Hmmm... It's ri8 but ktm Duke 125 is only 125cc 14 bhp and 14 Nm torque but price is same so mt15 is of course better...

I bought this motorcycle and I have no regrets. It's fun, engaging and very fuel efficient. As a standalone product it's fantastic

I clocked 11000 kms on my MT and I tour a lot with my bike. Surprisingly enough after the 4th service, it returned a mileage of 60. I bought this bike because I thought it will tick the three boxes- commuting, touring and having fun at the corners..it does !!

Most relevant Bike in these days of high fuel prices. Powerful motor. Fuel efficient too. Only drawback is the pillion seat

If you really want the international version of MT 15, you better think again, because it's priced.. a LOT. I own it and it costs around 36.000.000 Indonesian Rupiah which is around 1.83 Lakh, while the Indian version is around 1.36 lakh. Maybe Yamaha wants to decrease the bike's price for India by removing the up-side-down front suspension, alumunium rear arm, and also decreasing the tyre and rim's size, but the good side is the Indian version of MT 15 have ABS, while the international version doesn't, but overall it's still a great bike to have.

Coincidentally did a test ride of MT 15 today itself. The pillion seat is cramped, even the rider seat has limited space too. In a crowded city confined test ride, one can not explore its full potential. While Handling is just wow, braking leave you wanting for more punch. In a back to back test ride Fz feels more sensible and vfm choice. Somehow I did not felt connected with the bike. Asked for a longer test ride before making a decision.
@Ruman Devmane Thanks Ruman! I will, if it proves its MT branding and shows its mettle in a longer test ride, coming sunday. I am looking for a power commuter under 150-160 cc segment. MT fits the criteria but the relaxed riding feel. Not in hurry though!

The biggest deal-breaker for me (if I were to buy it; I can't, I am a college student, and my family thinks that motorcycles are death machines) is the lack of dual-channel ABS, even at that price. At least Yamaha should seriously have included that, and I was waiting for it to launch since so many months, only to be strongly disappointed solely due to the inferior braking safety.

I smoke apaches in my bike. I have smoked ns too. But it cant compete with ns after 120kmph.
I have taken my Mt upto 145km on long strech, i have crushed my friends 2004v in drag all of the times even though he has been riding bikes well before me, the only naked bike MT has hard time beating is NS 200.

The FZ25's extra weight and slightly larger size will blunt the engine's performance even further. Plus, the MT15 is more about handling than engine power.
Friend whether mt or n250 is worth buying
As their price is approx same
But many says that pulsar engines are totally not reliable and harsh also says that as like for example n250 may give 30 34 mileage that is not justified for 250 cc i think
So only I think to take mt 15 rather that n250

ruman bhai one thing you forgot to mention- it is isnt meant for tall riders also.
it's good to go with for shorter riders although the seat height might be 810mm and this one issue is a similar one with ktm bikes. none of them are meant for tall riders.

Silently pleasantly smooth flow and no jazzy bullshit clear precise and good look at the bike and very attention grabbing video a good video makes a good bike seem even more desireable. Gonna testride it after lockdown

Fz25 is pretty old and lacks the fun of ride. Only the plus I see is torque compare to mt15.

On R15 v3, 100 on the meter comes at 7100 rpm, this has a larger sprocket and should take around 8000 rpms to show 100 on the meter which should be around 90 kmph on Gps... how is that not stressed?
Also, r15 v3(well maintained) of my friend is giving 42 kmpl in highway+city rides at moderate speeds which is decent ,but how this MT suddenly gives 52 kmpl ?
