  • The victim of a violent assault and robbery in Thornhill involving a suitcase of cash believes he was being watched before he was attacked; videos shown in court at the trial of the driver charged with dangerous driving causing death show the moment and aftermath of the crash; and, the family of a Newfoundland woman who lost $20,000 to a romance scammer say the fraudster caught the victim at a vulnerable time.

Thanks to the Canadian Legal system. Even if these guys are caught, the system will bail them out, only to commit another similar offence, again and again and again. As there are no punitive deterrents, these criminals act brazenly knowing that there are no consequences.

First I thought it was a setup scam to get insurance money. But insurance isn’t covering anything. This guy is cheap. Should’ve hired a company to transport cash. At least air tag or GPS the package. The problem is they think their neighborhood is safe. But this is the new Canada. Everywhere is fair game.

400/hour lets say for 2 hours for a 100000 transaction. That is almost 1 percent of the amount. If he even loses on drop in few years he is still better off. The police and self defense laws in Canada are useless

Global Peace Ranking 2022 ranked Canada as the 12th safest country in the world, while the US is 129th. Canadas violent crimes since 1975 have reduced steadily to be down over that period by 40%. Over the last 4 years since 2020 we have gained 6 spots on the Global Peace index regarding crime and being a safe travel destination with our crime statistics over those 4 years remaining pretty stable with 1 to 2% gains or reductions, but remaining stable.
The problem is not that anyone thinks their neighborhood is safe it's that people like yourselves just wildly make up you're own statistics and say stuff like "Everywhere is now fair game in Canada for crime" when thats always been the case in every Country everywhere.....there is no place crime can't take place so everywhere is fair game, just like it always has been since Canada was founded. It's only a new Canada in the sense that less crime takes place today then at any point since 1975.
This guy who got robbed caused this crime to happen by not having security move his money, someone noticed this fact and took advantage of it too rob him. He caused the crime by deciding to save himself money and courier cash himself. If he used a secured transport to move his cash as business normally do this crime wouldn't have even taken place. So stop talking about crime in Canada like you know what you're talking about when you provide nothing but youre own assumptions and opinions without anything in regards to evidence and facts of what you're complaining about in this crime.....try being appreciative that you live in one of the safest Countries in the World where the chances you would yourself or someone you know would ever be a victim of such a violent crime as this is so low as too be something you shouldn't even be worried about.....except people like you guys making wild speculations and spreading mis-information without even bothering to fact check anything you're talking about......only drug offenses are statistically up, and barely up too, in Canada of all crime categories, just that one has risen to be higher then previous years here in Canada and that's simply because we don't supply enough housing and mental health so the people who used to be doing drugs and had a house or place to live you never saw them.....today we see so many of them compared to before is because those same drug users are all now homeless and doing those drugs in the open now instead of being hidden away in their home where before you never noticed them

Option 1: $400/hr for garda/brinks @ 2-3 hours for a transfer, tops. $1200 to transfer 100-110k. Cost of doing business, cant cheap out like that.
Option 2: Know how to disable the parking sensors on your vehicle and gtfo dodge in a situation like that (damages to vehicle will be greater than the cost of hiring garda/brinks)
Option 3: arm yourself, deal with matters and pay your lawyer (still going to cost more than garda/brinks)
Even if you can't insure the amount, you can take garda/brinks to civil court in the event of an inside job, and they would likely settle (because they themselves are insured).

Canada needs its own 1st,2nd amendment type laws Law abiding Canadains need to be able to carry weapons for self defense this should include pepper spray and tazers and firearms clearly police and politicians can't protect us its up to ourselves Canada needs its own stand your ground laws and castle doctrine!

No we don’t. Why ? So we can be like the US where people mistakenly shoot people simply knocking their door, shooting someone walking up to them to ask for a light for their cigarettes like some old lady did in the US, or shooting the people next door over petty disputes. Not to mention kids getting their hands on their irresponsible parents guns and then mass shootings like school shootings becomes the norm. Not everybody should have a gun to decide who is, or who isn’t a criminal based on their own judgment. There’s many downside’s to just giving citizens guns and allowing them to decide who is a threat to them. Many innocent people lose their lives in the US just because somebody assumed they’re a robber because they’re walking behind them trying to get to their homes that might be on the same street. You’re just asking for even more trouble with guns by allowing citizens to decide who they think is a danger to them. Some people are highly paranoid and might be able to tell someone isn’t a threat to them and then you have the elderly with guns shooting people knocking on their door. You guys see all the issue in the US with mass shooting from people simply buying guns at places like Walmart and yet you still tell yourselves you want this here just because you what a gun to be some kind of vigilante. There lot ‘s of downside to the US gun nuts system. Is it working when the US is still the number 1 first world country with more crimes than poor countries. If giving people guns were working their crime rates would be low but instead you’re seeing people shooting other people over road rage all over US just because they have a gun.

I once was surrounded by cars like that. See all the space behind him? He could of easily reversed. Turn off all safety features. When i rent a car. First thing is traction control off. Collision detection off. I turn off assisted braking also.
When i was driving and surrounded by criminals to steal my car i went over the curb like he could’ve of done. Thats a SUV buddy. That curb is nothing to a SUV. I and a Audi and went over a curb damaged my skirt package. But got away. I will not ever be a victim

“The vehicle wouldn’t allow me to do it”….that vehicle not worth but cost him $100k and just as easily could’ve cost him his life. Lemme guess…another vehicle detected(n rare), for your safety automatic reverse block is triggered so you dint back up into vehicle/object…smh give me my old skool Manuel vehicle over these high tech sensitive & digital death traps…a driver is suppose be the brains of a vehicle not the vehicle computer.

Police in Canada gave the indefensible people who are just missing a light or not using their turn signal or not having a good exhaust in their car and all these things but they never go after criminals. It's a shame
