I will sell my quest 2 and buy a valve index 2 right away once it releases. Tired of meta's limitation, although I love the quest 2, I think it's the most superior headset they have ever made, better than the pro's, quest 3 and S.
Sad to see Valve going away from finger tracking and try to shave as much cost as possible. I get it, PCVR isnt in a good place, with most people going for the Quest, but seeing VR going backwards is still worrying.
Yea was hoping it would be the premium option like Index was and no steamvr tracking going inside out with those el cheapo controllers does not look good for the future...
Finally we can have enough buttons to cover more complex game control schemes, this is going to be awesome specifically for games being modded into VR using stuff like praydogs UEVR mod
1) Likely reason for Steam Links existence is to do a public beta test for their own stuff that they will implement in the Deckard. 2) Theory for a theater mode for the Deckard would make sense as this might help them branch their Steam mobile capabilities. 3) People seem to be upset that there's no finger tracking on these controllers. I think that it's actually better to just get gloves if you want dedicated finger tracking and these controllers are actually better for VR games. Having access to more buttons, and mind you they all have capacitive touch sensors, gives you much more inputs for you to play with in SteamVR that with the current VR controllers on the market. More inputs is better for things like play space mover in ovr advance settings or if VRChat brings back Udon UI
Im hoping the deckard is actually a proper vr headset and not just a flat screen only device you wear, which I don't think is the case as something on steamdb popped up ages ago suggesting valve were testing PCVR on ARM64 chips so im hoping there working on some form of standalone PCVR. As for the controllers, I like them, there not index controllers but the extra buttons are a pretty good addition, allows for more complex games due to having more buttons to use, though I wish they didn't look so quest like. I know meta kinda set the errr... meta for standalone but meta controllers are just boring.
pretty much every controller for inside out tracked headsets out there besides the psvr2 looks like a straight ripoff of the quest touch controllers, it's probably just the best solution they could come up with given the constraints of inside out tracking
@jaytwentytenone2068 you could say the same about all modern controllers being a "ripoff" of an xbox 360 controller. Its just the best solution for the problem.
@@robertewans5313 I mean quite a few people already do that, one of the main descriptors of most controllers nowadays is either "xbox layout" or "playstation layout"
I like the shape and feel of Quest controllers. I generally dislike inside out tracking. Especially for PCVR. Tracking dropout behind the body is incredibly annoying. The Quest Pro controllers are the only exception. I have never really had any issues with them.
I have a feeling were going to end up with a headset that is a mix between the apple headset and the quest. A headset with full passthrough meant to replace your monitor for gaming as well as work as a vr headset. I really hate these kinds of controllers especially for immersive vr gaming. The knuckles are far and away the best controllers for that, I hope they at least make a knuckles 2.0 that would be compatible with the new headset assuming its inside out tracking. Because I would never use these for vr gaming. They would work for normal controller style games, but I prefer a keyboard and mouse. I'm not sure they will pick up any pc gamers that don't already play vr games.
they look god damn stupid. just imagine how they would feel to people who isn't neew to vr. the only thing that is good with this controllers if it was just a thing to troll the dataminer (i just cant think that it is real)
@goodman854 you gotta keep in mind that this is a headset intended for average consumers. If it used trackers around your room then it would have less people buy it because the quest 3 and 3s doesn't need that setup. Besides this is a standalone vr headset not a pcvr focused headset so if you play pcvr then don't switch
I'm more concerned by their asymetrical design. Matching buttons on both controllers make it easier to press an input without thinking. Feels more like an associated "hand" action. The d-pad feels way too gamey for vr imo. As for lack of baystations. I specifically have avoided the index because i just dont have the space to set up baystations.

DECKard...Steam DECK 🤔

but we all love Valve more than Zuckerverse

this could also just be and cheaper version of the controllers now about the D-PAD i have no fucking clue what that could be
@@xXYannuschXx I wouldn’t rule it out yet. The outside may be plastic, but there could be sensors underneath.

Why did it takes 7 FREAKING years for only thinking "what if we make vr controllers just like gamepad ?"
