So if you basically wanted an SD-1 with a little more in the low end, shaved off a tad of the brittle highs - slightly rounded off the mid hump - voila instant OD3. Interesting to me, because when I got my OD3 and played around for five minutes before putting it in my pedal drawer- I thought of it as bright and modern sounding, that was my memory.

Frequency response of a steady signal doesn't give you the full picture. Especially if one of the pedals has asymmetrical clipping and the other doesn't.
