His portrayal of Odin is honestly one of my absolute favorites. He gives off this aura that he is just a normal, friendly guy who wants the same thing as you. And then when you absolutely least expect it he screws you over.
It’s what makes him so dangerous.

His portrayal of Odin makes me think of Col. Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds: so incredibly charming and likeable despite every part of your rational brain telling you he's an evil maniac who cannot be trusted. He constantly makes you almost believe his lies over and over, making you unsure if you should hate him or make him your enemy... which makes Atreus' position in the story that much more tense. Great stuff.

Both Zeus and Odin are a great villain on their own way. Zeus was meant to be a bombastic and epic final boss, meanwhile Odin was meant to be more cunning and manipulative liar who has not the best raw strenght but powerfull in term of magic. there no point debating which one is better because both of them are different type of villain

Fun fact: this guy is the same guy that gets torn in half by the two T-Rexes in The Lost World.

Never thought the guy who got ripped in half by two T-rexes would be such a great ODIN

People already forgot the fact that Zeus would have died in gow 2 in the first fight just as it happened to the other Greek gods, he was only saved by a script, Athena and the evils of the box. literally things outside of him, odin's fault for being a sociopath who personally took it upon himself to get rid of anyone who was even minimally competent to cover his back.

What I always thought was so ironic was that despite all the knowledge and wisdom this Odin achieved he seemed to have so many blindspots in regards to what the consequences of his actions would end up having.

Odin: Hi! Welcome to Assgaard. The friendly realm! Where everyone is welcome! Besides Greek gods of course.
    Kratos: ....
    Atreus: Wow! Father! That's Odin!
Mimir: Well, this could've gone worse.
    Kratos: Yes.

He was the perfect choice to represent a master manipulator like Odin. They are always lovable people on the surface, it's how they are so good at drawing people in.
