The contentious speaker polls are to take place today at 11am with a contest between the NDA and Opposition. While NDA has decided to repeat ok Birla as the speaker, the INDIA front snubbed over the deputy speaker issue by the govt has now fielded k Suresh as its candidate. But there is a twist. Not many in INDIA bloc like TMC, SP feel the fight should have been over the speaker. TMC sources say the congress took an unilateral decision to field k Suresh. They feel the focus should have been on deputy Speaker. Though NDA has the numbers, the issue to watch out for us whether TMC will support k Suresh or abstain.
