Yeah when Josh Sheehan landed the triple, that was just ridiculous I really don't want to see anybody try that again, hitting a ramp at nearly 60 miles an hour being probably 70 something feet in the air, I'm glad Josh did it because he landed it and I'm glad no one else has tried it, one of the few tricks I feel that way about because, well yeah.. anyways, unreal!
Man xgames in the 2000s was the best ! It just doesn't have the same feel today ,, seats are empty! ,, before social media took over ! Before everyone was on their phones , you just lived in the moment
I'll never forget watching Travis back flip twice that night n all the flashes from all the cameras in the background... Never happen again not a moment so big in the sport..
Same... Travis is the only pro-race driver I've ever met that I've struggled to talk to... He's been successful at everything... He has wins in some form or facet in pretty much every form of motorsport except off road trucks and formula cars... Dude is one of the most talented people with a motor under him ever... Period... He's driven everything: Mx, Sx, FMx, WRX, WRC, Nascar... Dude has done fuckin' everything.
It's so overwhelming that within the space of a couple of years the backflip went from the most electrifying move to a common move in everybody's arsenal
To me I've always seen Travis pastrana as the hero of motocross. Even watching him on his shows and doing things off the bikes, the guy had zero fear and was amazing to watch
That is why Travis Pastrana is my idol and hero. So is my father, but Travis is hands down the most amazing human being alive. The significance of what he did, then to apologize to his mom for worrying her and putting her through that. Its just what i respect. How you treat animals and your mom. This guy is the pinnacle of what i consider to be a truly awesome human being.

Being in the staple center that night was a feeling I’ll never forget. Everyone collectively holding their breaths as he went off the lip and when he landed the walls shook, I was just about in tears of excitement watching my hero pull that. 13 years of ago at that time and still remember it like it was yesterday. Forever the 🐐 199🙌🏻
Let's give some credit to Carey Hart. He's the one that showed the fmx backflip was possible. He lit the fire. And now, if you "only" do a backflip, something must have went wrong.
It’s wild how much milder the crowds have gotten over the years.. wish the energy would come back again!! So rad. I remember growing up watching those earlier x games!
Caleb Moore did this on a snowmobile on the Winter X Games and Brett Turcotte almost did this on the Winter X. Also Brandon Cormier wins last snowmobile freestyle with the similar trick
David Rinaldo just brought it back this year for best trick and kinda added his own style to it. Was really cool to see someone else busting that trick out.
I still remember staying up late to see Travis go for the double and fell asleep during the comp. I woke up right as Travis was hitting the ramp. It was like a dream. I don't think I slept at all the rest of the night. Had to watch it a hundred times just rewinding
To this day I'm upset that Pastrana didn't get a perfect 100 for the Double Backflip that night LOL It was literally the best moment in X Games history, hands down 💯💯
The standing "OHHHHHHHHHH!!" From both casters when Travis landed. You knew that was a moment in world history right there. closest thing to Modern day Evil knieval.
Pastrana was obviously a shoe-in for multiple entries in this video, but when I saw it in my subs my first thought was "Mike Metzger, back to back flips". I'm glad you agree! Is it just me, or has the popularity of these events really dropped off from those 'glory days'?
I remember when you would go get your favorite dirt bike magazine & then rent the best video & then get home and play Jeremy McGrath Supercross 98 with your buddies. Those were the times! 🎧😁🤟
2:00 was the opening backflip monumental or something? (The gap length?) Because I'm not seeing any other reason that average run is in this vid. And the 360 was done earlier, so I'm confused
Man, moto used to be the biggest sport at the X Games. Those were the days. I honestly think it has just reached a point where the likelihood of serious injury or death is so high, it doesn't have the same mass appeal it use to.
you know back then they were putting on a show now all it feels like its just them doing a trick and setting up for the next one if you watch Pastrana he was keeping the momentum unlike a lot of guys today even though they can do front flips now
Travis's double flip clip still gives me chills with how insane the crowd is even before he goes off.
That night was electric.
And to think he has now landed a triple 3
Yeah when Josh Sheehan landed the triple, that was just ridiculous I really don't want to see anybody try that again, hitting a ramp at nearly 60 miles an hour being probably 70 something feet in the air, I'm glad Josh did it because he landed it and I'm glad no one else has tried it, one of the few tricks I feel that way about because, well yeah.. anyways, unreal!
It looked unreal. I've watched the clip so many times, and my brain still has a little trouble believing my eyes.
The stuff they're doing now is just insane to me. That fact that nearly all of these pull double backflips like its part of basic training now
Man xgames in the 2000s was the best !
I watched it live too and yeah, that feeling was just indescribable
I got goosebumps just reading this and thinking about it lol

Beat me to it
Not true at all
In the unchained document they said it best if u can’t flip it was ur retirement
To me I've always seen Travis pastrana as the hero of motocross. Even watching him on his shows and doing things off the bikes, the guy had zero fear and was amazing to watch
I mostly watched X Games as a kid for the skateboarding but always got so excited when a Travis Pastrana run was coming up
14:37 even his bike is proud of him
Love re living all these moments. Although it breaks my heart to see all the empty seats in the more recent clips :(
Right when it was ONLY in Cali at staples inside especially in the early days
The crowds now vs before is just sad
It’s fuckin dead today 😔
matt johnson facts
S T no i mean even prior look at xgames 2019 best trick
@El Chapo not sure, i just think nowadays it doesnt have the hype it had in early 2000’s
@@TVLON realtalk sad to say yesss your right😔😔😔😔
Travis is a freaking madman !!! That double will always be the peak of the sport! The energy in that building is insane!
That is why Travis Pastrana is my idol and hero. So is my father, but Travis is hands down the most amazing human being alive. The significance of what he did, then to apologize to his mom for worrying her and putting her through that. Its just what i respect. How you treat animals and your mom. Travis is insane. Double backflip on a dirt bike. Skydiving without a parachute. Racing rally cars.. he’s the true x games goat
Travis after his double:"I hope I never do it again"
*ff 10 years*: "yeah I think I'll go for a triple"

Wow the energy of the 2003 X Games was so different. I started watching in like 2008 and I was still a kid. I had no idea how crazy it was then.
Lands a double backflip “I’m sorry mom” haha such a LEGEND
I still get goosebumps watching Metz doing those back to back backflips
15:50 to 16:00 is one of the greatest camera shots in the history of sports. Iconic.
Amazing memories ❤️ never forget Metzger’s “double” backflip, and Pastrana’s double. The world was watching Travis that night. Chills.
When Mike Metzger hit those backflips it was like time stood still for me as a kid.
It’s wild how much milder the crowds have gotten over the years.. wish the energy would come back again!! So rad. I remember growing up watching those earlier x games!
I remember being a kid watching Mike Metzger in Philly that summer. It's still one of the top freestyle runs I've ever seen
that backflip body varial is the best trick of all time ...my gawd!!!!
We Love You, Chuck Carothers!
That trick chuck did has to be the hardest trick ever. Nobody even does that trick ever. Everyone is afraid of it.
Caleb Moore did this on a snowmobile on the Winter X Games and Brett Turcotte almost did this on the Winter X. Also Brandon Cormier wins last snowmobile freestyle with the similar trick
Tomas page's does this trick
@@garrettsomero3622 no he doesn't
How is this trick called?
David Rinaldo just brought it back this year for best trick and kinda added his own style to it. Was really cool to see someone else busting that trick out.
Chuck Carothers, You Are The Man!
I still remember staying up late to see Travis go for the double and fell asleep during the comp. I woke up right as Travis was hitting the ramp. It was like a dream. I don't think I slept at all the rest of the night. Had to watch it a hundred times just rewinding
He did!,,, I had to tap back ten seconds or so “first person to land a back flip”
yeah same xD
I was so big into motor x and the video games with it, THP back in the early 2000’s
I had a lunchbox of travis pastrana sending that double backflip as a kid, jesus that was a nostalgia trip
and all this began with supercross racers having fun in the dunes...
I will always remember where I was when I saw Travis do the double backflip
The first one is still one my top fav moto moments! 🤘🏽
7:53 I think he ment front flip lol
To this day I'm upset that Pastrana didn't get a perfect 100 for the Double Backflip that night LOL It was literally the best moment in X Games history, hands down 💯💯
If not TPs double then it'd have to be Tony Hawk's 900
The standing "OHHHHHHHHHH!!" From both casters when Travis landed. You knew that was a moment in world history right there. closest thing to Modern day Evil knieval.
I miss the old days of the x games in the staples center. It doesn’t have the same energy in the big stadium.
Travis's double backflip is iconic
Tp is the goat of all sportsmen imo. Weapon
Malachi Roll was definitely taken from PS2's Freekstyle 😂😂❤️
Great tricks and clips, but Carey Hart coming back after his injury and nailing the back flip is one of my favorite moments.
Crazy how most of these tricks are common now
Old 2 stroke freestyle was amazing 😎
Travis when he tired to do the mulisha twist was iconic
Gotta say, I teared up on Mike Metzgers run. A very special run for sure.
We Missed You, Chuck Carothers!
Kingwood Texas 👍👍👍
I remember Kyle Loza when he first started and won his first gold medal, then followed up the next time with another gold, he was so underrated.
Theres so much nostalgia watching this on cable tv
Wow. . .really great super amazing🤩🤩🤩
that first front flip was cooler then a normal front flip lol. travis double was the best i witnessed live tho
Travis is the Real Goat 🐐 For ever
Pastrana was obviously a shoe-in for multiple entries in this video, but when I saw it in my subs my first thought was "Mike Metzger, back to back flips". I'm glad you agree! Is it just me, or has the popularity of these events really dropped off from those 'glory days'?
For sure. 03-06 was the best. Mulisha and pastrana. Riders today are amazing but meh.
I remember watching Travis do the double live. It was absolutely insane!
Amazing! Insane! Fabulous....! Much much respect!!!
04 step up battle was awesome remember watching it live!
Killer mix, Rock On!
Chuck Carothers, You Did It!
all the best tricks were done on 2 strokes....2 stroke is king
I love 2 strokes but I don’t have time to rebuild that often 😂
I remember when you would go get your favorite dirt bike magazine & then rent the best video & then get home and play Jeremy McGrath Supercross 98 with your buddies. Those were the times! 🎧😁🤟
best part Rinaldo screaming 5:09
Where did the crowd go? Sad seeing those empty stands.
Travis=🐐
2:00 was the opening backflip monumental or something? (The gap length?) Because I'm not seeing any other reason that average run is in this vid. And the 360 was done earlier, so I'm confused
Travis's legend
the Carolla is way under rated
Dang this was sick!
I remember seeing Mike Metzgers' double back flip live...I'm glad he did that in Philadelphia
Chuck Carothers, You Won A Gold Medal! 🥇
Freestyle in the coliseum was elite
Travis Pastrana the king of motocross freestyle 👍🥰
Man, moto used to be the biggest sport at the X Games. Those were the days. I honestly think it has just reached a point where the likelihood of serious injury or death is so high, it doesn't have the same mass appeal it use to.
X games was so special back in the day when it was just in Cali at staples now it feels empty
Oh my god
He on xgames bruhh
Pastrana es legendario, fue un antes y un después desde su doble backflip en los xgames
Metzger was always my favorite guy in FMX growing up
Travis,s the best 4 ever🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌
6:39 why she up in his face like that
She tryna fight
At 4:00 deacon knows he's gonna loose i still remember that night even nate adams was 2 place beat him too
No deegan 360? Ahh the good ole days when they actually promoted Xgames....
Вот это мастерство!
8:35 why do they keep saying its a messed up front flip? Isnt that a front flip 360?
Firts Dobel backflip from TRAVIS in X games....,
I remember this moment
5:00 this trick is crazy... 😱
love moto cross
I seen this moment 10 years ago and now
Kyle Loza is my favorite of all time❤️
I live 10 min away from Travis house
Travis Pastrana is the greatest of all time
I'll never do it again, but It was time,i have that skill ,so did it again.
Jamais on aurait réussit à faire sa avec no y'z des années 80 mais aujourd'hui elle sont tellement bien équilibré et marche plus fort aussi
What kinda bike is that at 4:55?
Yz250
brasil 🇧🇷 👾
Diana is gorgeous ❤️😊
If you went back in time when Metzger did the double and told him that someone would do a rock solid backflip do you think he would believe you
you know back then they were putting on a show now all it feels like its just them doing a trick and setting up for the next one if you watch Pastrana he was keeping the momentum unlike a lot of guys today even though they can do front flips now
So technically, Chuck did FMX's first-ever body varial type trick in 2004
I wouldve brought up Lusk
Who remembers Carey Hart's backflip bail
4:58 the most insane trick ive ever seen and the crowd reaction was lukewarm at best lol
I'd assume had there been more people in the seats the reaction would've been alot better
