I mean, it is considered by most composers and arrangers to be one of the (if not the) most versitile instrument, just look at John Williams' music in general, the soft ballad type in Leia's Theme or The Force Theme. Then you have the typical Orchestra horn in Harry Potter, you have the ominous sounds in Jurassic Park. Not to mention it has a very wide sound range going from about middle Bass Clef to near middle Trumpet sounds.
I am really disappointed by how little appreciation the French Horn gets. This coming from a French Horn. Some people done even who that the French Horn exists!
