Always glad to see the 135mm focal length from someone who prefers it wider than most. The GM having some beautiful bokeh is a bonus. 👍
Sweet! This shoot really comes together in the loveliest way. That dress with those boots - chef's kiss.
I find with the 135, having something environmental in the plane of focus *really* helps, like at @4:11. The grass there gives a perfect amount of context.

Great shoot Julia! Especially when your model was skipping. That is exactly the whimsical style of photography I love to shoot. The A7RV/ 135 GM combo is fantastic. You can even go into crop mode and you have a 200 mm f1.8 at 26 MP. Of course then you would have to go away even farther from your subject. Cheers from Texas USA.
It will be an equivalent of 206mm f/2.75, not 200mm f/1.8.
@@dwightsbeetfarms3611 Actually it is equivalent to 202.5 and yes the effective aperture is ~f2.7. Still its like have two lenses in one. I wish Sony made a 200 f2 GM

This lens (GM 135mm f/1.8) is certainly one of the best lenses for Sony ML!!! But I took for $600 CDN less ,the Zeiss Batis 135mm f/2.8 because it's smaller, weight reduction (only 600 grammes) and optical stabilization! Good video miss Trotti. Realy sorry for my english writing.

That camera and lens combo works really well. Great photos. Is there a reason that you didn’t use the electronic silent shutter?
People rarely use electronic shutter. Why would she? It doesn't give you that feedback of taken photo, also person who is being photographed can hear it so he/she knows what's going on. And electronic shutter may introduce rolling shutter effect when making photos of moving objects and banding in some artificial lighting.
@@Stasiek_Zabojca I still have the A9, so I don’t worry about rolling shutter. I tell the model to just keep moving and I get a lot more of the special moments in between. But, I get what you’re saying. Everyone has their style and comfort zone.

Since sony a7ii or a7rii I have not seen any sensor improvement prove me wrong Julie.
Sensor improvement hasn't really improved in the last decade besides more pixels. It's more AI AF, better AWB, sensor readout. But its not like you can take some nice photos with the A7II, you'd just be seeing some nice QOL changes

Hello Ms.Trotti. I suddenly have a question popped up in my head. Is there a certain equation that you can simply calculate the level of DOF for a lens would perform by only knowing its focal length and F-number? (and the relation to crop and full-frame body) For example, in the group of50mm F/1.2 vs. 105mm F/1.4 vs. 135mm F/1.8, which of these would have most big bokeh if an object is taken in same magnification ratio on a sensor?
Check Google for the DOF calculator. I use it as I'm not pro level yet.

Thank you! No, you definitely have more bokeh on the 135, the f1.8 vs f2.8 makes a huge difference and especially if you are just shooting them side by side. You could still make the 70-200 look dreamy like this, but you'd have to work with your location a little differently!

hi julia, could you do a 90mm 2.8 g macro lens review?
Sony really needs to update the 90 macro. Preferably with a 2x macro switch and an f2 aperture. It would probably still be a "G" lens but still have GM quality IQ.

How are you taking so many photos so quickly? I’m new new to photography so sorry if it sounds silly!
There are a few things that can contribute to how fast you take a photo such as what memory cards you're using, what focus mode you're using and what shooting speed you're at. The Sony A7IV focuses extremely fast in Continuous AF, so you are able to take many photos one after another without having to wait for the camera to find focus. I also personally like to have my shooting speed set to One-Shot which is a little slower, but you can also shoot in high speed continuous if you want to take a burst of photos.
