    Thanks for the video!
    Any ideas on how to connect regular speakers (non-woreless) to HA? Maybe through ESP32 or some other low cost device?

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  Місяць тому +1

      Thats a real rabbit hole of a topic. very much dependent on what type of speakers, do they have an amplifier, how you want them connected etc. I don't have a video that covers that topic, but check out Lewis as he covers a similar topic (ua-cam.com/video/4DQ9iyV3G20/v-deo.htmlsi=F7mQpUwzZlFFnfvC)

    thanks for explanations. I am spotty on network architecture and dev knowledge, but since this creates what looks like a separate network address for MA, can the MA engine [I am thinking streaming throughput] be run off a different computer and just have the frontend UI/control be placed on HA instance? I am currently looking at changing what I have set up as since tied to Amazon components, it keeps breaking like album art display, etc (I have several smart hubs in tandem at the moment and running music through Hubitat without leverage to my local NAS).

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  День тому +2

      Yes, you can run the Music Assistant (MA) engine on a separate computer from your Home Assistant (HA) instance. This setup can be beneficial, especially if you want to optimize streaming performance or have a dedicated machine for audio processing.
      It's a little involved so not something I would go through in the comments, but IM me and I'll send you the instructions if you like.

      @@smart_home_australia thanks. I need to figure out the speaker direction I want to go first; since I would prefer non-ecosystem reliance on the speaker side of things. I have an old dumb zone controller that I am trying to get working again and then see if it will integrate.

    Very nice video! thank you. Could you also make a video on iHost connected to home assistant. I cant get the status of the devices to replicate on home assistant. And I noticed a lack od iHost videos. thank you

      I actually don't have an iHost, although it does seem a fascinating device, I mean it even have a 2TOPs NPU built in !! I'll see if I can get one in.

    I really like your video!
    I see possibilities to share my music assistant with one friend who gives Kickboxing lessons. Might it be possible to have my premium Spotify and UA-cam accounts authenticated but in inprivate mode?
    I would like to have my personal playlists still referencing my tatse of music instead of the suggested playlists being all over te place?
    Tldr: i want to share music for lessons, but i so not want to have my personal suggestions/playlists full of other suggestions.
    Is it possible to have inprivate music sessions?

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  Місяць тому +1

      Yes, it is possible to have private music sessions on Spotify while sharing your account for kickboxing lessons.
      To prevent your music suggestions from being affected:
      1) Enable Private Session:
      - Mobile: Go to Home > Settings (gear icon) > Social > Toggle on
      "Private session".
      - Desktop: Click your profile name > Select "Private Session".
      2) Turn Off Listening Activity Sharing:
      - Settings > Social > Toggle off "Share my listening activity".
      3) Make Playlists Private:
      - Go to the playlist, tap the three dots (•••), and select "Make
      private".
      UA-cam Incognito Mode
      - For UA-cam, use Incognito mode to avoid affecting
      recommendations:
      Tap your profile picture > Select "Turn on Incognito".
      Hopefully that makes sense?

    I have had no luck in finding an answer in the last 3 months, but since you just uploaded about it, might as well ask directly... Tracks, artists, albums, stations, they all load from all providers. Set up speakers and everything. NOTHING PLAYS! No matter what I choose, it loads for a few seconds and then stops, without ever starting. On playlists, it shuffles untill the last track, but again, no music! Any helpful ideas?

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  Місяць тому +2

      Wow that must be so frustrating, OK afew things to try:
      - Verify player connections: Ensure that your speakers and players
      are properly connected and recognized by Music Assistant.
      - Restart the add-on: Sometimes, a simple restart of the Music
      Assistant add-on can resolve playback issues, but as this is over
      afew months I'd assume you have done this many time.
      Troubleshooting Steps
      Check logs:
      - Go to the Music Assistant add-on in Home Assistant
      - Look for the logs section
      - Check for any error messages that might indicate the source of the problem
      Verify streaming service connections:
      - Make sure your streaming service accounts (e.g., Spotify, Tidal) are correctly linked and authenticated in Music Assistant.
      Update Music Assistant:
      - Ensure you're running the latest version of Music Assistant
      If not, update and see if it resolves the issue
      Check player compatibility:
      - Some players may have limited features when used with Music
      Assistant
      - If possible, try using a native player provider that's optimized for
      Music Assistant
      Network issues:
      - Verify that your network connection is stable
      - Check if there are any firewall settings blocking Music Assistant,
      I've had this issue before and was tricky to track down.
      Reinstall the integration:
      - If all else fails, try removing and reinstalling the Music Assistant
      integration in Home Assistant
      If these steps don't resolve the issue, you might want to reach out to the Music Assistant community forum or GitHub page for more specific help. Sorry I cant be of more help and please let us know if you resolve the issue.

    Is there any way to have different logins for different home assistant users? So each person can connect their own accounts rather than mixing a single youtube/spotify account and also have separate recently played and favourited albums and artists in music assistant?

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  8 днів тому

      I didn't know off the top of my head; I dig some hunting, and it would seem that Music Assistant does not currently support having separate logins or accounts for different Home Assistant users. Sorry.

    Only available on 64bit systems? I run HAOS on a RPI4 in 32bit mode. Documentation: MA requires a 64bit Operating System and a minimum of 2GB of RAM on the physical device or the container (physical devices are recommended to have 4GB+ if they are running anything else)

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  Місяць тому +2

      True, MA requires a 64bit Operating System and a minimum of 2GB of RAM on the physical device or the container (physical devices are recommended to have 4GB+ if they are running anything else). So some smaller SOC machine might not meet this requirement.

    Can you now use Apple Music properly? Last time you had to get a code, or something, that reset after 30 days or something

    • @smart_home_australia
      @smart_home_australia  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Michael, I don't use Apple Music as I use UA-cam Music, but I did some searching and there doesn't see to be a requirement for a code ever 30 days. Where are you seeing this???

    • @_enbb

      You still have to get the music user token from the AM web player, but I haven't read anything about needing to renew it every 30 days

    • @smart_home_australia

      In so much as it is integrated into HA and HA Assist can control certain functions, then yes, although I have not tried it.

    • @wowareolys
      @wowareolys Місяць тому

      @@smart_home_australia I looked around a bit and managed to get it working with adding the HACS integration. This way you can control it via voice / automation. Smart Home Circle made a video about it, if anyone else is interested. Worked for me 🙂

    Can't get UA-cam working.
    It's installed and setup, but doesn't import anything.
    Also; the toggle button that enables it is greyed out, and I can't uninstall the plugin.
    Looks like I'll need to uninstall the entire addon and try again.

      You can use UA-cam Music for free, but there are limitations, especially when integrating with Music Assistant.
      With a free account, you can access UA-cam Music, but you will encounter restrictions. For instance, when you request a specific song, the service may only play a station of songs inspired by your request rather than the exact song. Additionally, some features may be limited or unavailable.
      To fully utilize UA-cam Music with voice commands through Google Assistant or to access certain features like the new "Ask Music" AI playlist generation, a UA-cam Music Premium subscription is required. This premium service allows for ad-free listening and the ability to play specific songs directly.

      I didn't have that issue myself, did you have MA v1 previously installed? Might have been some code that remained? Also remember to reboot at key points and not just reload yaml code. I'm a compulsive rebooter, JIC :)
