    The Piper Cub which appears in several scenes is approximated by other light civilian airplanes. Unlike most other of my videos, this one was created using two simulations, DCS World and War Thunder. You can entertain yourself additionally trying to guess which scenes are shot in which of the two 😁

      You can be forgiven about the piper cub because the many other types shown like the Vampire, Meteor, Ourange, and Mystere 4 all being modelled for for us here.

    Fantastico! another masterpiece by showtime 112, been watching your videos for so long, and the attention of detail so great, i kept looking for the ejection of the egyption pilot from the MiG15 which was shot while take off. Fantastic video nonetheless.

      Thanks a lot! As for the ejection, I repeated that scene for 15 times or so and the AI pilot just wouldn't eject. They always do the opposite of what you want. When they are not supposed to eject, they just do and vice versa 🤣

    I'm going to save this for later but I am going to watch this. Unless I'm totally focused and settled in and ready to pay attention I don't want to waste a Showtime 112 segment.

    It's really incredible that so many early generation jet fighters looked so much alike in their design. A frontal nose air intake with a single straight thru jet engine. Canons mounted in extreme lower nose section. It made for a clean design but with limitation on exactly what you could get out of the aircraft. With only a few types actually achieving supersonic ability.

      Israeli here. Iv talked to mechanics who worked on french American an soviet jets of those days. " The french munchies were over complicated yet the quality of worksemanship was superb so much so they could take a hit and limp back. The Soviets had very good designs but poor worksemanship causing them to some time be fragile.

      In official reports in Egypt, after 1973 war, we accepted that Soviet planes lack good missiles after the peace treaty. The first jet to be in EAF is f-4s and f-16s till we met mirage 2000 and finally the refeal basically the idea here that French equipment is btter than even American ones

      French military equipment is an interesting part of the market. Western, but often reaching countries which other Western equipment can't reach. It performed well on a number of occasions, that's true.

    I once heard about an incident where an Egyptian mig was doing a strafing run and the only casualty was a soldier on the ground who was hit by one of the cannon shell casings

    7:02 South Aftican Pilot Rex Wickens served with the RAF on Shackletons and recalled be chased by Egyptian MiGs over Egypt at some point in his book. Can't remember what year unfortunately. It's on Facebook somewhere.

    Two piper cubs are worth a MIG? Youve got to explain that math to me.

    • @showtime112
      @showtime112  12 годин тому +4

      They also damaged a Mystere and believed this to be a victory. But most importantly (as I already explained in the video right after mentioning the Pipers), they performed a number of successful airstrikes against Israeli ground troops, pinning down the paratroopers at Mitla and slowing down the advancing 202 brigade. Plus, there was another successful interception of a British recon aircraft. They had a good number of MiGs to replace the lost one. They lacked pilots but the one that was shot down survived.

    • @miquelescribanoivars5049
      @miquelescribanoivars5049 12 годин тому +2

      Also the MiG pilot survived, while the pilot of the shotdown Piper did not, and in the end loss of personal is much harder to replenish than material losses.

    • @smokejaguarsix7757
      @smokejaguarsix7757 12 годин тому

      @showtime112 I would say the ground engagements were about even but this is why youre wrong about the MIG (and normally I think you make decent assessments btw). That MIG outclasses the Mystere. The Egyptians have limited numbers. The loss of a MIG they cant easily replace vs damage to a Mystere that wasnt written off just doesnt compare. I am certain Israeli and Egyptian commanders at the time would agree. The Israeli's came off better.
      That said, the delay to Israeli ground troops was the most serious of the issues. Then again, the Egyptians also ended up being delayed. It gave the Brits and French time to react. That was the real issue. But if youre going off of losses...the MIG is a bigger hit.

    • @smokejaguarsix7757
      @smokejaguarsix7757 12 годин тому

      @miquelescribanoivars5049 Ive flown Pipers. A chimp can fly a Piper. I can put an infantryman in a Piper and have him flying it in a few days. That MIG was an actual threat and not easily replaced. You never want to lose folks but Its just not comparable militarily.

    I would strongly urge you to use a native English speaker to read the voice-over/commentary. The vowels and stress-rhythms of people who have English as a second language jar the native speaker’s ear. Instead of helping the presentation, they distract and detract.
