Greetings fro Germany, I used to live in Melbourne and at the time Trimmers was my favorite player, I bumped in to him once at an AFL game at optus oval, Noth vs Carl we said hello and I think he was with Awaritiefe at the time, I said to my mate (a carlton fan me North) thats Paul Trimboli, the best football player in the country!
What I mean is, this guy is one of the most natural talented players with so much vision compared to those that i have seen, that have gotten picked up in europe at the time!

Absolute CHAMPION in every sense of the word both on and off the field. Those of us who were lucky enough to follow SMH for the 17 years Trimmers was at our famous club are blessed. Awesome tribute for a legend. Paul Trimboli walks on water, tra la la la la, la la la la.

oh man the golden days. When i was playing for south melbourne juniors between 1999-2001 i got a free season pass for all their home games. Pretty much went to almost every home game for SMH in these years. Loved watching Trimmers, Boutsianis, Covenhy score goals for fun. Such a shame we bottled the 2000-2001 NSL grand final. When A league didnt take in South Melbourne, i didnt have a team. If they actually let South melbourne in, I defs would have followed a league more, but i just dont give a shit.

Couldn't run, cross, shoot, win a header, defend or tackle. Was heavily marked by more than one man on all occasions, and despite all this was still too good for most teams to handle.
Obviously very skilled and smart, but for mine, the most positive player I've ever seen. Trimmers would very rarely pass backwards, he was always looking to create and was brilliant at it.
It's a shame his physical and athletic attributes weren't really good because he is the most creative player Australia has ever produced. Absolute legend of the game.

A-League teams can only wish they had such players.

Not entirely fair. But most of these teams could take the ALeague sides.

No. Got a huge offer from Rangers in the early 1990's but he didn't want to leave Australia as he also had a successful career outside of football.
