Yeah, I really like Gorillaz' early material because it has this weird vibe of the turn of the millennium. Though I I literally became a teen when the decade ended, I really love that feeling.
This feels like 2000-2007 MTV I’m 12 years old and I see this video when I was 5 idk and it feels like nostalgia idk
One thing I really like about this video is that it captures the feel of the 2000’s. The cityscape’s streets and light really captures a familiar but run-down feel that is weirdly intimate. The art style of the characters is bold but mellow, making them seem part of the environment. The music is very calm and serene, kind of like a summers night, sitting on a bench in the park, or the porch of your home. I wish this is the kind of feel that music and media in general can make, but I guess that’s me being nostalgic.

Ah, the days when 2-D had Purple hair, Murdoc wasn't tanned pickle Green, Noodle was small and barely spoke English, Russel was REALLY round, and Del was sort of a 5th member. I was never actually alive then, bahahaha. But, there's something about this era of the band, from the lore, the artstyle, the music, it just appeals to me the most out of all eras of the band. Absolutely adore Dan The Automator's production, I absolutely believe they could use another producer like him. Wish Gorillaz would take risks like they did then, tackling new ground in each album, doing weird things with genres, twisting them up and putting them together to create something that's very much it's own unique thing. Ever since Humanz, Gorillaz has very much stayed in their lane, I don't even really like Humanz all that much, but I do think it had something really unique about it, but now it feels like they're too scared to do something that could potentially scare new people off, when that was what made stuff like Phase 1 so cool. There's something sort of unfriendly & unsettling about Phase 1, but it feels so cool and casual at the same time. It's the mystique and the unique vibe that keeps people coming back. I haven't felt incentive to revisit The Now Now or Song Machine that much, even though I actually really liked Song Machine (as an album), but you bet your bottom dollar I revisit stuff like Self-titled & Plastic Beach all the time. Apocalyptic Dance Music Gorillaz was really interesting but really repetitive and lacked in execution. Stripped back Gorillaz was nice and easy listening but felt rather empty and samey. Back to basics Gorillaz is just the Gorillaz being Gorillaz doing what we know them for already. I want do something new by taking something old and completely flipping it on its head Gorillaz. I don't want yesterday to be our today, I want tomorrow to come today.

@@stopmotionmovie123 I mean, sure, but Phase 1 art, specifically the music videos, really doesn't reflect that fact all that much. Because we can see clearly in stuff like 19-2000, the mans rocking purple hair in broad daylight. Even in this video, when he's facing the camera he has purple-ish hair, it does change to a bluer deeper shade when it changes to a side-shot however, so there is that. His hair maybe blue in Phase 1 canonically and it may be showcased properly in some art, but I personally don't think the art reflects that all that much, or I guess, at least, it's inconsistent on the matter for any number of reasons. I think it's been purple-ish enough times in Phase 1 to call it Purple outright even if it isn't actually supposed to be. Reminds me just a little bit of Spider-Man 2099, his suit is canonically black, but blue was used for shading because drawing it as straight up black would've been an absolute mess on paper at that time, but overtime, his suit just straight up became blue because of the general perception of the character, though I suppose Stu's case maybe a bit of an opposite/reversal. I dunno, funny comparison I thought of in my head.

I've been listening to this song since I was a little girl in elementary school. I'm 24 now, listening to this again for the first time in years. And I don't know why but the line 'don't think I'll be here too long' really hit me hard. It made me realize that the Gorillaz is that one band that I've listened to for damn near my entire life. I can't even begin to imagine how shattered I'd be if we lost Damon. He's made so much beautiful and expressive music. Russel breaks the laws of human anatomy and that’s just what happens, no explaining it really. Noodle is a whole badass, and 2D is best boi. Murdoc can go screw himself, but at the same time we love him, and no one knows why. everything may or may not make sense, but that’s why Gorillaz is legendary. they don’t really follow any rules so you either take it or leave it. We choose to take it, and hope you do too. It’ll change your life.

This song has so many emotions, mindsets, and feelings in it; 2000s/early 2010s nostalgia, in the zone, deep feelings, depression, driving your car at night alone, driving to work, the city, etc. The effect that this song has on you really depends on what part(s) of your life you associate it with. In general, songs like this one bring out the good, the sad, and the awe of our past, how it’s unfortunately gone, and how we as people have to face the future as tomorrow comes today.

I wasnt alive in the early 2000s, but listening to Gorilla’z old songs gives me nostalgia for some reason, even though i didnt listen to Gorillaz music until like a couple months ago.
Same I was born in 2007 and didn’t start listening to them just back in march of this year but I do get a sense of nostalgia even though I never experienced it before
