- The Russian song "You Are The Only One" gathered a narrow majority of votes in the OUTmusic poll this year. Since the European gay television broadcaster OUTtv started the Eurovision poll in 2010, it's the first time that its gay viewers all over Europe have voted for Russia to win the Eurovision Song Contest. This year, a record of more than 3500 gay men have voted. Especially France, the Netherlands and Russia are the big favorites among the voters. The outcome is remarkable, because OUTtv viewers appear to be well predictors of the winner of the contest.
It is the seventh time in a row that OUTtv organizes the poll. As usual, the winner receives the OUTMusic Award before the Song Contest officially starts. Since the introduction of this award in 2010, the winner has already been predicted mostly well by the gay community (in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015). "We can say that the gay community is quite good in predicting the winner when it comes to the Eurovision Song Contest," says Marc Putman, CEO OUTtv Europe. For the first time Sweden is not in the top three. Sweden won the award four times already.
"It is no secret that the Eurovision Song Contest can count on a lot of gay votes every year," says Putman, "Also the organization knows that the gay community has an important part in the success of the festival. It is the first time that we hand out the OUTMusic Award to Russia and that's quite remarkable. Since the anti-gay laws in the country, the LGBT community and Russia are not really an ideal combination. But our voters have decided and we respect that."
Singer Sergey Lazarev, who represents Russia at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, was surprised with the award as well. He responds: "I know I have a lot of gay fans and I would like to thank everyone who has voted for me. Last year Russia has got booed off stage after finishing second in the competition. I am prepared for that as well, but of course I hope that people will enjoy my performance. The gay scene in Russia exists and I can tell you that OUTtv and everyone else will be more than welcome to visit."
On the 11th and 18th of May at 9.45 PM, OUTtv will broadcast their Eurovision show 'Stockholm Calling' on TV where the OUTmusic Award will be handed out to Sergey Lazarev.
Sergey is so damn hot and his song was by far the best on the night, no wonder the gay fans voted him number 1. How did the interviewer resist him?
I get so sad watching this now. Russia real winner, love you Sergey!
He should have won, too bad 2016 was once again another political win, just like in 2022.
Everyone in Europe feels for the people in Ukraine but why is Eurovision such a political contest if it is a music competition?
I love sergey and I will always support him as a person and an artist because he is a really kund person and he has a good soul.
I hope he comes back and represents another country next year and that he wins because these "juries" always made sure he ended 3rd place, in both 2016 and 2019.
Sergey is awesome! He really deserves to win!
Sergey is an incredible person - we love him so much❤️
Sergey is beautiful as a person and as a singer, as an actor, he can conquer and ignite the heart of any person, regardless of their orientation
i am a fan but......i am not gay...
sounds great! You don't have to be gay go be a fan :P
+noranashat I'm a big fan but I'm bi :p
Kate Verbunt SAME
+noranashat fun😂
As much as I adore Sergey, so so much, I'm afraid some gay fans are just trying to out him.....
yeah.. they don't know how kind and amazing Sergey is and instead think "oh he's Russian so he must be homophobic".. and as a half Russian I know that he in theatres (because he also is an actor) has been playing a man dressing as a woman (long story), and russians are thinking it is weird and some even protesting while he's like "eh it isn't weird, it's ok, and also I am just acting"
he is very different from the typical Russian and even Russian celebrity, and he's much kinder and nicer at that :))
@@deardoggo you're right
Why are OUT-TV not pushing human rights question more in this interview? It's quite stupid , when you have the power to make a change with a own network/channel.
Sergey is man god! love him so much
Has Sergey come out already?.
HE IS NOT GAY HE IS JUST LOVELY AND A GOOD PERSON😊👍👍👍👑👑👑
I'm sad to hear this prediction...
Do you know that you have a lots of gay fans? Lazarev: Comon man! I am a gay myself! :D :D :D LOL what a question!
Lazarev must be ashamed for lying!
So cute Sergey
It's funny to hear this after winning Ukraine...
But instead, talent won. UKRAINE

George Austin Tay I like Ukraine more than Russia but I think Russia should have won because it's first in televoting;)

I don't wanna out anyone, but you'd be surprised of who's gay and famous and Russia

Arik Taranis so why he has so many gay fans?
Emilia Zarembska Ask them! 0_o Well, even I have gay fans, nevertheless I'm strait.
0 points for him! I hope they don't win!

+Kate Verbunt Because he comes from a country where 85% of the people are against LGBTQI+
+SkajN123 but he isn't
