@@fructosecornsyrup5759 Oops, I messed up the context of my comment. I meant to say I had thought (back when I was younger) that Rain screamed because the sound of the bullet going off scared her.
I love this movie it doesn’t have much dialogue but you can still tell what the characters are feeling rain is the perfect example she never says a word but you can still tell how she’s feeling and what’s she saying
I’m not sure what that colonel was trying to accomplish with only a dozen guys behind him. If this weren’t a cartoon he probably wouldn’t have been able to do much of anything. Probably the only nit-picky thing I’ve ever said about this movie. It’s amazing. I’m in my thirties and still listen to the soundtrack.
It wasnt up to the colonel to take over the village, it was the railroad company…if you listen to one of the soldiers earlier in the desert base, he mentions that the railroad companies sent in complaints about the indigenous attacking and killing people and workers. If there’s anything I learned in history is that the militaries are just guns for hires for other corporations or elite groups doing their biding. So this military attack on the village was probably sent by the railroad companies
Is Sad the Tragic Native Americans had too went through putting up a Fight their Resistance upon themselves to Protect their Families like that were Forced to Flee their Homes in Order to Escape 0:53 that Warrior's Spirit Heartfelt Battle-Cry right there!.
That was descosting! Can't believe we tried to wipe them all out because we thought they they were uncivilised. From my point of view, it's people like this colneral guy that's the real savage.
One thing I kinda wish we got in this movie was a rivalry between Spirit and The Colonel’s horse. I mean a part of me can’t help but imagine that his horse felt jealous of him wanting to ride Spirit so much.
Speaking of which, I actually wrote a fanfic of a sequel to Spirit. It was about spirits child being captured by the humans…Spirit knowing how the humans are tried to save his child, only this time he has a rival pitch black horse getting in the way of his mission. This rival horse is called by many “The Shadow”. But little to Spirit’s Knowledge, The Shadow happens to be his long lost father, Strider, who he himself was captured by the humans long before Spirit’s birth. Strider lived a life believing that his mate Esperanza died along with their unborn child a long time ago and now acts as a slave to the humans. It is up to Spirit to not only save his child but also his father. It’ll be like a Luke and Vader like relationship
You know what’s strange to me about the new joke of a franchise? That they didn’t make the new Spirit a completely different horse. The new generation wouldn’t care..it didn’t need to be in the same universe as spirit. The different horse could of been a pretty cremello or a silver bay if they wanted him to stand out. I mean, honestly Dreamworks..what the fudge? 😐
The horse from the show is supposed to be Spirit‘s and Rain‘s son. I think they hoped for the "old generation“ to make the new one watch it because "Spirit was so good“.
Depends on the tribe. The Comanche and Apache were indeed brutal and vicious to damn near everyone. Torture was post-battle sport. The Lakota got pretty viciouswith the other tribes too.
And believe it or not, at one point Rain was originally intended to die here. Glad they changed it but it would have made this scene even more heartbreaking.
Because most of them were racist dicks back then, they believed the land and all of its resources belonged to the white man. They lies and went back on many treaties (and also used the language barrier against the native people) and just straight up killed people.

I didn't notice this before but I think rain reared up not because she was scared but because she was protecting and shielding little creek.
