That's why brass surfaces are naturally anti-microbial, when we moved to chrome and plastic surfaces, microbes create a biofilm which persists.

Just make sure that the water isn't poisoned by the copper.

It's very unlikely to get copper poisoning even as a human. I'm sure whatever cattle is drinking out of this will be able to stomach it

      How is that possible?

@@Gabriel.Q You want to make sure that the copper doesn't corrode in the water and that no chips come off so that whoever/whatever is drinking it doesn't get copper toxicity. It happens with copper cookware.

@@kaitlyn6853Significant corrosion, in this case, would take years. We literally use this metal for pressured water pipes decades at a time. As long as he checks it every once in a while for visible signs of corrosion, the water will be just fine.

I saw a water trough that had fish in it. I was told they were goldfish. They ate the algae and bugs that landed in the water. And any mosquito larvae.

It would likely work better if you emptied out the water, put in the copper rod, refilled it, and did the same. Less algae to kill, less gunk in it afterwards.
Although that would obviously mess up the transformation shots so it would be harder to tell if it did work.

Was that a copper coated ground rod?
My buddy puts a couple of 1' lengths of bare solid #6 wire in all of his livestock water troughs.

This is not a good option for copper sensitive breeds like sheep.
