Even expanding/modifying ships makes my brain hurt. I have to use all of my two brain cells to figure out where to put habs to make sure the ladders' positions aren't confusing.
@@griffin_gold The biggest single tip I can give is that instead of moving habs into place with the mouse, instead highlight the place you want to have a doorway/ladder (specifically the actual attach point) and hit G (or whatever the "add" button is on console), which will bring up a menu of everything that's "allowed" to be attached to that point. If you do that and then add a hab or walkway etc, it'll prioritize THAT specific attach point as the entryway. I use it to prioritize doors over ladders because I don't like many ladders being in the way and prefer doors in strategic spots where there isn't important stuff. Doesn't always work, but has a much higher success chance than clicking add globally and then sliding the item into place with your mouse does.
I got deep in to it the other day for the first time and even when I was done I find myself fine tuning the ship still a few times a day. She will never be finished. Also I'm broke now :P
Happiness achieved 🖤 Damn this game is truly amazing, just finished my first playthrough. Time to beat it 9 more times lol, then I can go nuts with ship building. Your videos have helped a lot, I have loads of screenshots of my favorite habs, & you made that possible! Thanks again Homie!
Thank you so much for making all of these comparison videos! Lots of us care about what our ship interiors look and function like, so you've saved us tons of time going to different staryards.
I am definitely going with the "rushed their way through the brigs" hypothesis, the Deimos brig's control area has two lockers in it where they are installed sideways so that the doors clip into the other locker instead of opening outwards. Looks REALLY rushed, just "chuck some lockers in there in the creation kit and hurry up about it!!" style. Plus it kinda hurts that even though we have plenty of bounty missions, I haven't found a single one yet that I could stun and take alive in my brig, so.... purely RP and not very good at that? Eh... Thanks for touring them but I think I'll swap my Deimos brig for a Nova Galactic 2X2 living space instead, and simply take no prisoners!
Would have been really fun to have the alive reward be a little higher, and have the systems in place to use your brig and stuff. Some day in another game :P
@@Digfigwe have non lethal weapons/skills, brigs, everything but the choice to take people alive💀. I’d hope they plan to add it in as a dlc with lots of new deep mission board quests, a questline with the trackers alliance? More non lethal options added
I think I'll avoid the brig all together. The only time I would want one is if I'm doing a bounty hunter but even then you've got some armory with cells.
Same. It's cool to see but serves no purpose at this time. Hopefully, in future updates, they'll have bounty hunting missions where you have to take the target back alive, and you need a brig in order to do that. At the moment, though, it's just a thing you can have for aesthetic and serves no purpose.
"Hey players, we're adding bounty hunting to this game!" "Great, we can put them in the ship brig and haul them off!" "No, they just sit there and surrender." Come on Todd, perfect opportunity.
Ive turned the frontier into a J shaped beast, its a top notch ship. Did a 1×2 above lander with a link going to 2 1×2s next to it, reactor an drive in center of J.
I’m kinda torn between Hopetech, Stroud, and Deimos. Hopetech kinda has that grunge and degrading appearance for the jail cells. Stroud is very clean with those nice dark walls. But Deimos has those nice red lights in the cells almost like a silence of the lambs vibe.
I swapped the Stroud brig that came in the Star Eagle for the Nova one. I prefer the layout of the Nova, the fact that the cells have toilets and benches in them (if I’m bringing someone with a bounty in alive, I don’t want to make them shit on my floor or piss in a corner). I also like the workstation with the big console. Another place to get some work done or send some messages or whatever.
I dont like how once you use the computer to open the door to the cell you can't use it again to close it. No actual gameplay reason to but it could be nice for RP. Hoping either Bethesda or modders add the ability to actually capture bounties alive and use these brigs to transport them to whatever system they're wanted in some day
My favorite brig is the Hopetech BECAUSE of the color scheme. I'm going to put it in my Batwing! It really sucks that you can't actually use them at all. That makes them much less interesting and a waste of a hab space overall. I would only use something like the brig on a ship for bounty hunting or to RP as Batman.
Although I enjoyed your showcases of different habs, it would work vastly better if you didn't connect each one on top of the other, which creates ladders in places where it normally wouldn't be. If you use a companionway stacked between them all, you get one ladder going up with a doorway leading to it from the habs, which wouldn't take away from the habs as much. Just a personal preference.
Well as long as there aren't any prisoner tranport missions i don't see any use of this for myself xD i would love to like an escort mission or something like that xD
OMG, is this for the Adoring Fan? 😂I don't know if I could actually lock him in?! Cause, I definitely would lol Could you do a tour of the cargo halls ? I know there isn't actually racks, but, there are boxes 😂 Missed opportunity.. The modders will be amazing at this I'm sure 😁
As someone who has worked in a prison, these brigs absolutely horrify me with the design. Simple. A cell in each corner with minimal features. A bathroom in the middle front and back and a first aid station ileftvand right in the middle . A control area in the center. Or a ladder entry in the center. That is a brig.
Can anyone tell me is there actually a use for your brigg? I can't for the life of me figure our how to put people in my ships brigg. 1) in the stroud ekland brigg I opened one of the cell doors but nolonger had an option to close it anywhere. 2) a few people online said use an EM weapon to knock them out and then just hover over them to put them in. But nobody sais how. I hover over and I can't even pick them up they are stuck to the ground where they fall unless they are dead. Please can anyone who knows exactly what you are supposed to do tell me what I'm not getting if they are actually functioning?
I am really disappointed with the brigs. They are currently of no use until mod support comes out, and their layouts are underwhelming, like you said. That massive computer station in the nova galactic brig? Pointless. I'd absolutely replace it and put more brig doors there.
I spent 2 and a half hours building by first starship last night. I feel like I just tried crack for the first time.. This is life now.

Lmfao the crack reference is perfect that's literally me with the ship building! Love it and I spend hours doing it.
There are way more habs than I realized. I don't know how ima fit this into my SR-1 Normandy. Thanks again for these seriously.
There is a good amount of them, I love the Normandy series of ships. I have each one hanging on my wall next to me!

Now I'm convinced that you are the Nova Galactic chief of marketing 😂 even though the lore says Nova already defunct and bankrupt 😂
Buy low sell high, now to make Nova worth something!
I wish you could assigne crew to specific spots in the ship.
Right. I just need them to stay clear of my captain quarter's bed.

Just a small curiosity, hopetech 2x1 armory offers a cell right in front of your arsenal.

Came here because of the new bounty hunter mod that actually uses the brigs and was considering building a prison ship, now you ruined that.
And that's the thing I hate about Starfield you have to build from scratch not to mention how buggy the game is🙄
