Hillcrest South nurse saves life at Jenks Baseball Field

In May 2023, Phil Elias and his wife Sherry were watching their grandson's baseball game when Phil suddenly went into cardiac arrest and collapsed. Kate Copass, a labor and delivery nurse at Hillcrest South, recognized his distress and started CPR while calling for her son Maverick to grab an automated external defibrillator (AED). Kate, Maverick, and a Tulsa firefighter teamed up to care for Phil until emergency services arrived. They discuss the importance of knowing what to do and where to find an AED if someone is in cardiac distress.
