Thanks, your video was a big help! I took mine out and managed to pull of the top all together, just remove the tiny clip on one of the sliding rods, that enabled me to get to the filter easier, because you can then remove the whole inside unit very easy. Thanks again!

Your welcome mr prosale replacing the fuel filter is a necessary maintenance item that’s often forgotten because a lot of car drivers are not aware it should be changed. Engine performance will improve with proper fuel flow rates and it’s nice to know about any other issues in the car before they leave you stranded on the road. The Mazda has almost 180k miles and the only problem is a electrical malfunction with the ecu, high beams don’t work and the horn does not work. No check engine light.

What you could have done is disconnect the power from the pump and start the engine to release the gas pressure from the gas line that way you wouldn't need a pan to catch fuel

Vitas, I hate to tell you this but you only replaced half of the filters. The case that surrounds the pump has a fiber filter in it that is not serviceable that I can see. I just replaced the whole unit and both filters were pretty dirty. I had to cut open the cannister to get a look at the big filter. The strainer filter at the bottom was the worst and I'm suspecting it has clogged the filter screens in the fuel injectors too.

Lo que no entiendo es, porqué hay que cortar la alfombra para accesar a la bomba de combustible. Si hay que darle servicio al filtro, lo logico habria sido dejar el espacio abierto para MANTENIMIENTO.

Thanks for the video. What you show is replacement of a strainer. Is there anither filter indide the white bucket with s fuel pump ot anywhere else on the car?
I checked multiple sites, but cobuld not find a strainer or another fuel filter in any of the typical online catalogs or Amazon.

Why would Mazda complicate a regular task such as this though? 😡

Because Mazda wants their car owners to take them to the dealership for service
