“Caring is not an advantage” he knows that because the only person that he really cares about is Sherlock and this always puts him in a complicated position.
I'm sure he also cares about their parents and about Eurus - he spent years doing what he thought was best for them, despite that it couldn't have been easy on him to keep lying and putting up a front.
Kangaroo You’re definitely right! I think that maybe I did mention only sherlock because their relationship is more explored in the show. But you’re spot on.
Mycroft is such a good character. Somehow, hes one of the most relatable. Watching this video really lets me see how he is. He's hypocritical. He's caring, but doesn't like to show it. He's stiff, but thats only a persona.
and , my dear , i don't dars to change your mind. coz yes , he's so amazing like he only cares about sherlock and somehow sherlock does the same but Mycroft always sees him as a child , the lil sherlock , the one whom he cares the most.
I think Mycroft is the most tragic character of the show. He said he didn't care but he cared. Too much for his own good. More than anyone. He sacrificed his soul to keep sherlock happy, to keep his family in balance. And what does he get in the end? His parents calling him a failure. Saying that he wasn't good enough. That everything he did was in vain
@@its.nikii07 all the eldest child in the family gets this feeling. That's life, I suppose. WE are the 'SHOCK ABSORBERS' even though we can't handle things anymore. btw, I totally love Mycroft XD
The only reason Sherlock is not in prison or dead is because Mycroft takes care of him. He runs around playing detective knowing Mycroft will be there to clean up the mess.
I think yes all elder brothers will relate. Why did Mrs. H hate him so much... why they make fun of him. Yes Sherlock was always protected by him. Mycroft threw himself always to protect him. When he was ready to lay his life even to save Dr. Watson, it was not like him as they project him to be. Goodbye. Brother mine. .... brought tears to me. I loved his character more than Sherlock. for me its after His Last Vow... (spoiler alert beyond!) "your loss would break my heart" well yes he probably said that just to play with Sherlock, but he was under the punch influence! so that could kinda emphasized on how long Mycroft had suppressed himself from ever saying that to Sherlock until that scene. and the ending where he saw little, helpless Sherlock after killing Magnussen... it is so beautiful. eh or probably since A Scandal in Belgravia because "I'll be mother." "That sums up the whole childhood." (or something like that) showed their childlike dynamic so well, it's so cute. I miss them both on screen. it's thanks to Mark Gatiss who performed so well as Mycroft 💕

And calling him very limited!?! I could've throttled that woman! Your darling girl is a murderer who also wanted her one brother to kill the other one, and you still have the nerve to have sympathy for her?!

Sherlock, to John: Yeah, but if you were dying, if you're being murdered, in your very last seconds, what would you say? Mycroft, to Sherlock: Goodbye, brother mine. No flowers, my request. NOW I CAN'T BE DEADER
everyone is talking about when Mycroft said “goodbye, brother mine” but what about when Sherlock went to Mycroft and said: _”ever wonder something is wrong with us?”_ like God, Sherlock went to the one person that would/could understand him feeling like he’s nothing but sh-t because he’s been told he was a freak and a d-ck for innocently knowing stuff about someone just by analyzing them (without even doing it purposefully.) all they do is just notice. it hurts Sherlock because he has feelings, and he can’t tell Mycroft cause he’ll just call him soft. but Mycroft calls him soft and pushes him about having emotions because he wants Sherlock to be tough and not show weakness to others, like a dad would for a kid who skinned his knee. and Mycroft is in Sherlock’s mind palace, making sure he’s doing it right, making sure he isn’t getting distracted by unnecessary details, when he’s not even there to mentor Sherlock at all. Mycroft does have feelings, just like everyone else, when it comes down to Sherlock. and Sherlock, because he sees Mycroft as a nuisance (as siblings do) he doesn’t realize the care that goes in it when Mycroft spies on him, and he sees it in the logical way, like “he’s making sure i’m not doing anything illegal or getting myself into trouble with his big government laws.”
Mycroft cares a great deal about his family. I can tell you that for a fact. Especially Sherlock. Sherlock fails to analyze Mycroft's true feelings for him and misinterpret's them into negative feelings. Sherlock has no clue the true depth of Mycroft's love for Sherlock, but I TRULY hope that one day Sherlock will know, and understand just how deeply Mycroft cares about him and the rest of his family. Mycroft by the way, does actually care about other people in the world too, and that is one of the main reasons that Mycroft works behind the scenes in the British Government to help create and maintain an international peace. He does not take on the MOST difficult challenges in the world as a way to fight boredom like Sherlock does, he does it because he Truly cares about other humans and wants to help the rest of the world. He acts like he doesn't care partly as a cover so that no one will see through his steely eyes and look into his heart to see that he actually is a VERY caring person, which someone could use against him in many ways. The other part is simple denial. He does not want to admit even to himself sometimes that he does care because he is afraid of loss. He is particularly afraid to lose Sherlock. He also is very afraid of rejection from others, which is very sad. He is afraid that if he showed someone his feelings that they would in turn just reject him. So he chooses to try and hide his feelings and put on a suit of armour and self confidence and control so that nobody can break through his armour and in turn break his heart. It all makes perfect sense when you think about him and analyze him. It is actually very tragic indeed. Mycroft Holmes is actually my Number 1. Favorite character in the entire story. Mark Gatiss plays him perfectly, I think he makes THE perfect Mycroft Holmes out of anyone who has previously played him.

Mycroft: _"My brother has the brain of a scientist or a philosopher and yet he elects to be a detective. What might we deduce about his heart?"_ The real question is, my dear Mycroft, what we might deduce about yours.
I feel like "No flowers, my request" isn't much of a request. I think he believed no one would visit his grave so he acted like it was his choice. I don't know, maybe I read so much into things but this sentence always breaks my heart.
(Mycroft Holmes: Everybody dies. It’s the one thing human beings can be relied upon to do. How can it still come as a surprise to people?) He said this. It shows that his mind is very sensitive. And he doesn't understand himself either And also made me realize that even the genius doesn't understand the reason for life
Yes! Now that I think about it, it shows that even though he's really smart, he may not have experienced too much of death in his life. It shows in his reaction to the man who killed himself, Sherlock and John were relatively unfazed.
2:19 “If you were dying, if you were murdered. In your very last seconds, what would you say?” “Goodbye, brother mine.” OKAY THAT IS JUST RUDE! HOW DARE YOU BREAK MY HEART THIS WAY?!?
"everyone dies...it's the one thing human beings can be relied upon to do." this sorta lines are the reason mycroft is one of my favourite characters. he obviously cares about the people around him, especially his family, but he still acknowledges that "caring is not an advantage, sherlock". his character is very well thought out, since it's so self-aware, like, mycroft clearly is aware of his own flaws; "i was never very good with them. humans." but also aware of humanity's flaws in general; "everyone dies...it's the one thing human beings can be relied upon to do." but he still empathizes with others' pain, and shows that he cares in various ways, even if he considers caring a weakness: "i was there for you once. i'll be there for you again." and i also like how it's made very clear that he still feels emotions, for example: "oh, sherlock.....what have you done...?" "w-...why would he do that to me, thats insane.." upon the mention of friends: "change the subject, now..!" "i don't need....'friends'..." ("...how would you know?") "i'm living in a world of goldfish..."
Mycroft is really my favorite character in Sherlock. He doesn't get enough love. You can tell how much he loves his little brother and how hard he tries to make sure he's stable and okay. Honestly we should all Stan him
He seems cold and heartless but its obvious that he loves his family and of course his little Sherlock. As for Eurus, he did his best for the family and Sherlock as the eldest one. And the Holmes siblings love each other too. Mycroft always cares his little bro and Sherlock does too. Even the youngest genius psychopath Eurus didnt kill her brothers in the end.
Lovely edit, shows us the true Mycroft. Only part that is missing are the scenes in The Abominable Bride, where he tells Sherlock "I was there for you before, I'll be there for you again. I'll always be there for you". A minute later, he asks John to "Look after him..please.." That little 'please' at the end was so heartbreaking, and said with a sad smile, with pain in his eyes. Need to add these in your vid.. otherwise, fantastic job!
Mycroft loves Sherlock and their whole relationship physically hurts me like he locked Euros up because she hurt Sherlock (also she was a danger to other people but Mycroft doesn’t care about other people so) and ahhhhh. The plane scene in the Abominable Bride literally left me hysterical.
And he tried to "assist" the development of Sherlock's fabricated memories ever since he was six....because Redbeard was a beloved family pet to Mycroft, and so is John. Sherlock's pets. To Mycroft, Sherlock has dogs.
He might scoff at caring, but he’s the one who cares the most. He might not care about everyone, but he’s utterly vulnerable with the few he does care about. Beautifully drawn, beautifully played, quite underrated character.
First time i saw the first chapter, i didn't even know Mycroft even existed, at first I didn't like the idea of a Sherlock brother but now, I think they can't exist without each other.
@@SvenTviking That's one of reasons I felt a little bit weird watching the latest episode; they are building character development for Sherlock, sure, but the writing of Mycroft in that ep... it was written as a battle between Sherlock and Euros only, not for the eldest sibling to play a role and used his brain at all.
The burden older sibling have to carry to protect their you ger siblings is just shown very very well in this. In his own twisted indirect way he cares about Sherlock. He had to care of both his siblinge coz nobody else would understand them, care of them or love them like he does.
You have done an amazing job showing his character. He is a hypocrite in the most beautiful way. His logic screams rationality and pragmatism without compassion and empathy. But he has a heart. His actions contradict every cruel thing he says.
My favorite scene was when Mycroft was in the helicopter and kept saying don't fire, don't fire on sherlock. Then he saw sherlock as a child feeling afraid. I felt so touched...... Mycroft will always be my favorite character here
The one who cares the most, who's been put in complicated situations, who protects silently, who had to be the responsible one because he's the eldest, who must hide his real feelings, the one who prefer to play at the back stage.
Mycroft is richer, sharper, faster than Sherlock, his only disadvantage is that, he is not BRAVE. But he loved Sherlock even though Sherlock bullied him for every small reason
I don’t think he hates him. He’s just a younger brother, that’s what they’re like. I think that Sherlock secretly still adores his big brother but is too stubborn to let Mycroft know that. I know my little brother can be like that sometimes
Honestly I viewed Mycroft to be one of the bravest people in the show. See S4E3 when he steps up to sacrifice himself for John without a SECOND of hesitation
I genuinely believe that Mycroft believes caring isn't an advantage, but I also genuinely believe that he DOES care. He's openly admitting his biggest 'weakness.'
Mycroft and Sherlock are such remarkable characters. They are possibly the only people, who truly understand each others mind. The Holmes Brothers are indeed very different. But at the same time so alike, they hate it 😂
You see all cool Sherlock edits, all villainous badass Mycroft edits, all cute and clumsy Watson edits but THISSSSS, this edit is like one of those rare edits you stumble upon by chance that makes you cry with an ugly wobbly smile.
I feel like this is an ode to all the elder siblings out there who hold the line, watch and care for us and try to maintain that they're infallible even when they're hurting. "He is not strong as he seems"
I've always noticed how at the end of 'The Final Problem', Sherlock tells Lestrade to look after Mycroft for him. This mirrors the scene near the end of 'The Abominable Bride' where Mycroft tells Watson to look after Sherlock for him. Johnlock and Mystrade hmmm... I just really love these parallels :")
Mycroft a man who does not want to admit he is like everyone else and with Sherlock will do anything to make sure his brother is safe even die for him😩
Mycroft is such a fascinating character, same as his brother. They are both, in their way, special. And even if it seams, they hate each other (ok, they do a bit), they still love each other as well. I really love their chemistry 😍
I've already watched this like 50th times and omfg, this just breaks my heart. Into a million pieces, Mycroft is literally on of the most complex character in the show and averything aout this is just,,, perfect
any older brother with a troubled younger sibling can understand this x a love of his sibling despite their flaws and constantly trying to support them despite any childish resentment
When the Sherlock started, I was thirteen years old. Of course, I liked Sherlock and John and I always waited for Moriarty. But now, 13 years later, I realize that my favorite character is Mycroft..
Honestly, I´ve seen many different videos of this kind. But I keep coming back here. The way clips are used and you´re able to tell the story and paint the picture with such limited amount of them is amazing. You´ve astonishingly produced a video which could be, in a way, used as an amazing trailer for the whole series or at least introduction to the character of Mycroft. Lastly I must applaud your choice of music which is just phenomenal. Very well done!
Mycroft- a paradox, a beautiful walking contradiction.. he says caring is not an advantage, yet he fails to say this wisdom comes from first hand experience, from caring too much.. isn't it ironic, how in the end The Iceman became the most relatable one!! he has his own flaws, and they make him all the better, they make him human. Though the series is about Sherlock and John, Mycroft is the best one out of them all.
We know he cares. He knows it‘s not an advantage. Winner is, who survived. So, who is the smart one now? Magnussen? He‘s dead. But all lives end. All hearts are broken. He can‘t handle a broken heart. And „Your loss would break my heart“ And surely, it would come as a surprise to him.

He said this. It shows that his mind is very sensitive. And he doesn't understand himself either
And also made me realize that even the genius doesn't understand the reason for life
Does anyone understand the reason for life, tho? He can't be blamed for that one
He also reacted to the guy who killed himself
Yes! Now that I think about it, it shows that even though he's really smart, he may not have experienced too much of death in his life. It shows in his reaction to the man who killed himself, Sherlock and John were relatively unfazed.
2:19
“If you were dying, if you were murdered. In your very last seconds, what would you say?”
“Goodbye, brother mine.”
OKAY THAT IS JUST RUDE! HOW DARE YOU BREAK MY HEART THIS WAY?!?
"everyone dies...it's the one thing human beings can be relied upon to do."
this sorta lines are the reason mycroft is one of my favourite characters. he obviously cares about the people around him, especially his family, but he still acknowledges that "caring is not an advantage, sherlock".
his character is very well thought out, since it's so self-aware, like, mycroft clearly is aware of his own flaws;
"i was never very good with them. humans."
but also aware of humanity's flaws in general;
"everyone dies...it's the one thing human beings can be relied upon to do."
but he still empathizes with others' pain, and shows that he cares in various ways, even if he considers caring a weakness:
"i was there for you once. i'll be there for you again."
and i also like how it's made very clear that he still feels emotions, for example:
"oh, sherlock.....what have you done...?"
"w-...why would he do that to me, thats insane.."
upon the mention of friends:
"change the subject, now..!"
"i don't need....'friends'..."
("...how would you know?")
"i'm living in a world of goldfish..."
Mycroft doesn’t get enough love and I’m so happy to see this because he’s one of my favorite characters.
mycroft has a heart. His might be bigger than most, to be honest. He has too much love inside him for him to handle with his intelligence
Why is no one talking about the music? It’s such a perfect fit for this amazing masterpiece. ❤️❤️ mycroft btw
Actually it is❤️
Lonely day
Lonely Day, System of a Down
In the end Mycroft turns out to be the one who care most.
Mycroft is really my favorite character in Sherlock. He doesn't get enough love. You can tell how much he loves his little brother and how hard he tries to make sure he's stable and okay. Honestly we should all Stan him
That look when he said "Goodbye, brother mine." You'r right, he deserves so much more love....Mark Gatiss, what a talented man
“Hmm I wonder why this video from probably 2014 is in my recommen-“
_Sees that it was uploaded three days ago_
well, I’ll be damned
"It's not so bad once you get used to it." -Crowley (from "Good Omens")
"well, I'll be damned, Hamilton is on your side."
I will take my leave now.
Imagine if Mycroft also has a series
He seems cold and heartless but its obvious that he loves his family and of course his little Sherlock. As for Eurus, he did his best for the family and Sherlock as the eldest one. And the Holmes siblings love each other too. Mycroft always cares his little bro and Sherlock does too. Even the youngest genius psychopath Eurus didnt kill her brothers in the end.
i remember crying like a bitch when i thought sherlocks gonna shoot mycroft... i really admire and respect him.
I don't have Abominable Bride anymore, sadly, so I didn't get to add it.

I swear Mycroft seems much more interesting than Sherlock sometimes.
@@cassandrabelyeu2419 okay but you are a genius for saying this
He might scoff at caring, but he’s the one who cares the most. He might not care about everyone, but he’s utterly vulnerable with the few he does care about. Beautifully drawn, beautifully played, quite underrated character.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
I absolutely love it. But again, Mycroft is my favorite character so I may be a little bit biased.
Thank you ❤😭
First time i saw the first chapter, i didn't even know Mycroft even existed, at first I didn't like the idea of a Sherlock brother but now, I think they can't exist without each other.
number 3 Have you read Sherlock Holmes? His first introduction was in the ‘Adventure’ if my Sherlockian knowledge is still reliable.
Mycroft is actually more intelligent than Sherlock. But he uses his gifts for more establishment uses.
I loved Mycroft so much! Especially in the final problem when Mycroft tries to be rude and insulting so Sherlock would kill him instead of John.
You have done an amazing job showing his character. He is a hypocrite in the most beautiful way. His logic screams rationality and pragmatism without compassion and empathy. But he has a heart. His actions contradict every cruel thing he says.
Caring is not an advantage...
He would know, wouldn't he..
S : Sex doesn't alarm me.
M : I'm not lonely, Sherlock.
S, M : How would you know?
I AM DEAD
My favorite scene was when Mycroft was in the helicopter and kept saying don't fire, don't fire on sherlock. Then he saw sherlock as a child feeling afraid. I felt so touched...... Mycroft will always be my favorite character here
Mycroft Holmes was, in fact, the Ice Man.
Heat melted him, pressure cracked him, and yet he was the coldest of them all.
The one who cares the most, who's been put in complicated situations, who protects silently, who had to be the responsible one because he's the eldest, who must hide his real feelings, the one who prefer to play at the back stage.
Possibly unpopular opinion: Mycroft deserved better from Sherlock and his parents.
Not unpopular at all. Best character on the show
Mycroft is richer, sharper, faster than Sherlock, his only disadvantage is that, he is not BRAVE.
@@lilyheym5570 yea, I couldn't think of anything else instead 'hate' at that point of time. I'll edit it now
Honestly I viewed Mycroft to be one of the bravest people in the show. See S4E3 when he steps up to sacrifice himself for John without a SECOND of hesitation
He's one of those people who has to do the dirty work.
I genuinely believe that Mycroft believes caring isn't an advantage, but I also genuinely believe that he DOES care. He's openly admitting his biggest 'weakness.'
Tender heart Ice Man. Kind hearted brother.
"He is not strong as he seems"
mY BOY
yOUR SON
I've always noticed how at the end of 'The Final Problem', Sherlock tells Lestrade to look after Mycroft for him. This mirrors the scene near the end of 'The Abominable Bride' where Mycroft tells Watson to look after Sherlock for him.
Johnlock and Mystrade hmmm... I just really love these parallels :")
Beautiful montage with spot on choice of music. Very moving.
Mycroft is kind of my favorite character. I loved him since episode one. This video made bond even more with him.
"Then he's very limited"
The audacity of some parents, you can't say that to your child even if it's true
Sherlock and Mycroft are my favorite characters. Especially when they are together.
I can't be the only one who realizes Mycroft's hand is shaking here. 1:15
and Sherlock does a sad, worried smile here 2:16
Wow..this video is so sad and emotional that youtube tagged it as possibly sucidal
Lmao exactly
Eurus doesn't blink to kill a person, Sherlock kill when he need to, Mycroft wouldn't hurt a fly.
The kindest soul, in pain the most.
this.is.bloody.incredible! i love it soo much!
I've already watched this like 50th times and omfg, this just breaks my heart. Into a million pieces, Mycroft is literally on of the most complex character in the show and averything aout this is just,,, perfect
Who of you knew: Mark Gatiss who plays Mycroft is also the author of some episodes.
any older brother with a troubled younger sibling can understand this x a love of his sibling despite their flaws and constantly trying to support them despite any childish resentment
OH
MY
GODDESS
THANK YOU SO MUCH THIS IS AMAZING I'M IN TEARS
he said Caring is a disavantage, but after all, he did care, always care.
i love this man, from the bottom of my heart ..
I was gonna die if Mycroft died. I was crying like hell....btw thanks for this beautiful edit. Loved it to the core. Mycroft is my favorite.
If I hadn't already adored this version of Mycroft, this video would have done it. Fabulous!
"All lives end. All hearts are broken."
"Can't handle a broken heart, how very telling."
"Your loss would break my heart."
“ Laser surgery “, remember..........He is actually intelligent and quicker than Sherlock but he is underrated
Though the series is about Sherlock and John, Mycroft is the best one out of them all.
l literally cried the first i watched s4ep3 thought he was actually gonna shot by sherlock my heart was bleeding
Wow. Wow, thank you for showing Mycroft in such a way. He is so underrated
Iceman going through a lonely day
“Make sure Mycroft is taken care of; he isn’t as strong as he thinks he is.”
As always, I love it! Your edits always make me see the character under a new light, I feel like I understand them better. Thank you for that
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND UNDERRATED CHARACTER
change my mind
I cannot fathom how beautiful this is oh god i'm crying 😭😭😭
Mycroft will have to spend the rest of his life knowing that Sherlock would rather kill him than John
I dont know why, but without failure this video makes me cry every single time I watch it and I love it
This was so well edited and omg the ending justtt omggg *chefs kiss*
Mycroff have always been a big brother to sherlock and will always be.
Two of My favourite lines in Sherlock:
1. Sherlock saying "My dear Watson".
2 Mycroft saying "Brother mine".
We know he cares. He knows it‘s not an advantage.
Winner is, who survived.
So, who is the smart one now? Magnussen?
He‘s dead.
But all lives end. All hearts are broken.
He can‘t handle a broken heart.
And „Your loss would break my heart“
And surely, it would come as a surprise to him.
'No flowers...my request', the best Mycroft to ever grace the screen
Мы не можем не согласиться с тем,что Майкрофт самый недооцененный персонаж в этом прекрасном сериале
lmao i cried so much the first time i heard “no flowers. my request” jesus i love him so much
I`m literally crying, bc all this family relationships are too strong and this video is too beautiful and emotional))
