Really ? What does he do when the bio parents get together and want a relationship with her ? He sees her only 2 times a month. What is he then ? Dad number 2 ? He can get left behind at any moment. Genes matter. Scientific studies have even discovered that our best friends have similar DNA to us. She can see herself in her bio dad. All her attributes that make her, her are divided between his cheating ex and his back stabbing brother. He literally has to also deal with them to have a relationship with her. She has a mother and father. Children heal much quicker than adults. The child will be ok.
Finally a story stopping stereotypes. A man who is not tied down on how noble it would be to take care of a child not his own. Specially one produced from betrayal.

Great story, husband stood strong, especially when knowing wife and brother affair began before marriage. And continued through out six years of marriage. Now wife pregnant with brother’s second child. And husband’s parents help keep truth from him. So distancing himself from them was for his well being.
He told he knew and would destroy them , and they still showed up? He said he loved his daughter. Yeah, not his biologically, but the daughter of his heart. That's the one thing I keep hearing, "raising some other man's child " "paying for some other man's child ". I have NO sympathy for someone who would intentionally hurt a child. The child did nothing wrong., but will be hurt the most when thrown away by the parent they love, not understanding that grown-up feelings and that grown-ups money is more important than the child they "love ". Brother and wife are AH, but the betrayed spouse took his place beside them after kicking the child to the curb.
It's one thing to destroy the brother and wife, but what about all the people working at his brothers company? He is truly a ASSWIPE. he has nothing to be proud of.
Well, at least his niece got to experience fatherly love even it was just for little while. The little girl should be very thankful for that. She should know not every child gets to experience it.😅
@lindasynnvewahlmann7766 not saying that baby girl wasn't. But by cutting the thread now will help her understand eventually heal. She is young. It's is not his responsibility but more on the point it was his choice. His wife and brother actions resulted in her birth. 16 year long affair. Do you realize the time that was lost for him. The children he could have had. The wife who actually love and respect him. His true ride or die. . So to me he made the right decision. His wife and brother was escaping responsibility.

From what I’ve gathered from all of you, each of you would rather tell a lie to Merrit, rather than tell her the truth. Whether she’s four or 40. That’s pretty sad and yet everyone in the family says; what about Merritt? But not one of them truly gives a damn about her.. they all only care about themselves and the business.
I get what he did to the adults but that child is innocent. She asked if he loved her and he Didnt answer. She's still his niece and she's innocent. He Didnt have to basically say he Didnt love her or want anhtbjng to do with her.
That is exactly what people like the people in this story hope for. If he wants a complete break from the adults he has no choice but to make that break 100%. Add on top of that every time he looks at that little girl he will see the betrayal of not only his wife but also the entire family. He could never treat her the way she deserves. The little girl is innocent in all of this, she will suffer the most. It is not however his fault nor his responsibility, and unfortunately with the way laws work if he takes even an iota of responsibility he is permanently on the hook for all of it. It falls under assumption of fatherly duties and there is a lot of court case law in place for that. The cautionary of this story is that, if you pull this crap you are not the only one that will suffer when you get caught.
