Over 50 years na ako dito sa US, nagsasalita pa ako ng diretsong ilokano at tagalog wala akong masyadong pilipino friends, kasi dahil sa tsismisan, inggitan, at payabangan, i would rather hangout with my family and I’m much happier ❤

I feel a bit embarrassed. We were still so very young when we 1st arrived in the 70s. Me & my siblings used to speak fluent ilocano & tagalog. But we've been surrounded by english speakers daily & suddenly one day we just realized we lost the ability to speak both dialects fluently. Although, thank goodness, we can still understand, since our parents still speak to us in our "native tongue" 😊😊

No offense meant. but a smile back kahit mahiyain would make a difference. Im an ambivert minsan nag eexude ang confidence but there are times tinatamaan ako ng hiya and when that moment happens I still smile back and just look down keeping my smile a bit longer. or I would smile back and just nod. pag kinamusta ill simple say ok naman po kayo ho? then after whatever her response is I would exit gracefully with a smile para di bastos looking. I think ang byword is just to be respectful to people who are polite di ba? again no offense meant just an opinion😊

Filipina from Norway here. I don’t agree with you 100% 1. Sa tingin ko po hindi ka suplada or arrogant kapag hindi mo pinansin agad agad kapwa mo Filipino in public places. We’re all busy with our lives & with our own problems that I think it’s wrong to expect na i welcome ka kapwa mo Filipino with open arms agad or mag smile sila sa yo. Better to give others the benefit of the doubt than assume the worst especially when we are unaware of what others have experienced in their lives2. Kung gusto po ng Filipino o kahit sino man gumamit ng LV, Hermes, Gucci, Rolex, Cartier etc & credit card po ginamit nila who cares?
& most of us Filipinos (& generally asians) like to use designer goods anyways. I
mean if one chooses to buy a bag from Macys for 10 $ or a bag from Chanel for 10,000 $ there’s nothing wrong with that. 3. Be a law abiding citizen at all times that way may mag report man sa yo then you have nothing to hide coz you didn’t do anything wrong. 4. Discrimination happens all the time, unfortunately most of the people discriminate regardless of where they are from (this is not just exclusive to Filipinos).

I think envy is good as long as in the constructive way than destructive (destroy others), this is human behavior even other nationalities, even worst. In the bible it says every talent is God given, not everyone becomes a Doctor, attorney etc. It's probably boring. Be content what you have and make the most of it, that will bring you money, happiness and don't forget to pray to thank the Lord always and help others.

Isipin mo na lang n baka may pinagdadaan, we don't know were they coming from. It's good na somebody are their to reciprocate you energy. Additional insight din don sa mga Filipinos na medyo masungit..I can understand them also..there must be a reason why they reached that level of skepticism sa kapwa nila..Baka they experienced something really bad kaya super ingat n sila. First time ko Umalis ng bansa to teach in Thailand, I was very young then and I was one of those people na sobrang naive at super enthusiastic pag nakameet ng kapwa Filipino..sadly, I experienced lots of negative things..so time and experience taught me to be really really careful..to the point minsan siguro na nagiging quiet lang ako pag may filipinos around me.

Kahit na anong lahi may ugaling pangit. Dahil nakasaad sa Bible that “ we all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Yong need to know Him in personal level. Dahil kung kilala mo si Lord at alam mo why He died on the cross. Mapapahumble ka at matutunan mong live for Him everday. If you are walking with the Lord mababago ang pangit ng ugali ng kahit anong tao.

I agree with the guy that says iba iba Ang ugali ng bawat isa. It is what it is. It doesn't matter what color or nationality. Move on and try to think positive. It is really have to do with ego. All of us have idols. Idols means idolizing money, fame, material things, beauty. I believe Louie Vuitton are for poor people. You don't need brand name to show you are rich. Take a note that the real rich people don't wear brand names. They don't try to impress people that they are rich. Move on girl. Put your energy on positive thinking. Bakit kya? Cguro likas na mayayabang lang talaga! Correct! Best thing to do. . .). Ito yung mga 'deprived' sa Pinas.

Noong 2015, narerember ko padin itong eksena nato, haha. I onced got invited by a new friend sa church nya. May mga pinay yung new friend kong pinakilala sakin. Yung isang pinay matangkad at maputi may itsura sya. When we were introduced, inuri ba naman nya ako from head to toe. Matapobre ang dating, haha. Later, nabanggit ng friend ko na dati daw worker sa Hong Kong, I’m not sure what kind of worker but maybe DH? Well, anyway nakarating sya dito sa US dahil nakakilala ng US navy na afam at pinakasalan sya. She’s very lucky kasi now she has a good life.

We're almost the same. Except, I grew up here, went to college abroad, then came back to work. I've already been established for 15yrs BEFORE I finally met my spouse. And it took me 5yrs to finally agree to even get married. We used to live in the west coast, where there are already so many Asians. So I never noticed the negatives in your list. But I'm also aware that there are less Asians, let alone Filipinos, in Michigan or east coast in general. So maybe that's the difference, the more Filipinos < less competition > friendlier.

    • @walkerlamebrain
      @walkerlamebrain 26 днів тому

I just read some of the other comments & realized, my entire life I've been surrounded mostly by Caucasians + Asians & various other races, who also either grew up or were born here. So we're not aware of the "crab mentality epidemic" since me & my closest family/relatives/friends/coworkers never experienced it ourselves. It's sad to think there are some who will treat their fellow Filipinos badly just to make themselves feel better.

    • @pinayinmichigan6363

@walkerlamebrain it really is a thing…the crab mentality. Check out the history of “MAKAPILI” during Japanese invasion in the Philippines…those group who turned against Filipinos. I’ve been told that here in the US it is the fellow Filipinos who would tell on fellow Filipinos who do not have legal status and end up getting deported. It is a sad reality.

Dapat kasi, adjust the way things are done in your adopted country. Some Pilipinos just don’t want to associate with other Pilipinos. They asked too many questions about your personal life which is too invasive. It’s their way of gauging your status in the community which I think of being competitive. There are two categories of Pilipinos, 1. An individual born in the USA (first generation) and 2. Pilipino immigrants. There is also such a thing as 1.5 generation. Those that were brought in the USA at a young age ie. 1 to 5 yrs old. These are some emphasis on some Pilipinos.

Hello po! Just bump into your video, happy to watch it.😊 12 years na po ako dito, I’m here at Georgia. I worked in a medical field po sa isang hospital dito at ang daming Filipino nurses which were hired from Philippines through agencies, I actually let them know po that they are brave to go here alone without knowing anyone just to work, I appreciate all of them. Even though Maraming pinoy sa workplace ko, I’m the only Filipino sa department namin so I don’t really have a chance to mingle with them. But sa na observe ko po they are hard workers and respectful.🎉 minsan may marinig ako mg chismisan sila sa isa’t isa. As for me hi, hello lang talaga ako sa kanila, I don’t join if they have chismis or if may e share ang isa sa akin, I just smile and I don’t feed the negativity. And even though Maraming pinoy, I also understand that we are there to work so Hindi lahat dapat friendly agad or iba iba ang characteristic, may shy, introvert, extrovert etc so I don’t think of it as offensive if Hindi sila mg smile or Hindi friendly.. I act professional sa work but I smile whenever may ma encounter ako however I don’t usually ask na are you Filipino or start to chat personally or ask questions except if uunahan nila ako. And yes it is true na most Filipinos ngyayabangan ng mga gamit but I don’t really get into it, I’ll just say masaya ako para sayo, or wow! Bongga naman ng car mo, like I just keep praising them and most of them if one has a new car, the other one will have a new one after a month, it’s crazy! Ang isa ng start ng trend kasi kumuha ng Tesla car, ngayon most of them have one, I honestly don’t know how they do it being here for 4 years or less. Pero I guess that’s how they spend their income as nurses through things, I’m cool with it and I don’t mind.. especially when one shares sa akin oi may bago akong car tapos sabay pakita sa picture or may new house or whatever, I just smile and say wow congratulations!😅 may isa din na she wanted to sell her Louis vuitton sa akin kasi daw may bago syang bag and I just smile and say sorry ha, wala po akong pera sa ganyan then she will stop.😊 hala, ang haba na nito, pacensya na po.. by the way I easily speaks English po kasi nahirapan ako mag Tagalog. Ingat po kabayan!😊

My experience is that the majority of Filipinos first asked: how you got here in the U.S.; and if you own a house. Due to these initial encounters with most Filipinos, I don’t interact with them anymore. And I don’t speak Tagalog because I am from the Visayas region, so I, typically, speak in English because it is understandable to everyone, including those who are not Filipinos who are around you.

So kahit saan, madaming pinoy pinay na inggitera at mayayabang.

@@pinayinmichigan6363- thank you, kabayan for reacting. i would suggest to all kabayans to learn how to react whenever we encounter those situations. we should tell ourselves not to get personally affected. let us keep in mind to focus more on the better things to make our day fun. siguro ipagdasal natin sila. I usually utter silently "Panginoon, patawarin mo po sila..." 😅🤣😂

Back in the Philippines, did you know many Filipinos were racist to their own color? Yes! you exactly right!, mayaban, competitions, but I could say, that they're were hardworking people. Miss Pinay in Michigan, let me say. it's your own opinion and you own preference. I do agree some of your comments. I hope, you didn't generalized all Filipinos. Nextime, make a content about the qualities and how good we are.

I lived in AZ and Pinoys are more friendlier and approachable there when moved to CA and said hello to some Filipinos they looked at me like “who are you don’t talk to me” but I still believe that not all are like that. Was in Fremont and had a good chat with senior couple while on line for a movie. It is always a treat to find some kind souls and friendly Filipinos in America.

Same situation here, i dont have a pinoy barkada as i grew older. I learned to stay away from folks who ask intrusive questions on alien status, salary, relationship status.
As for folks wearing luxury brands, its fine as long as they dont ask questions that fish for compliments on the brands they're carrying versus what I have (which is usually a sports brand). When purchasing anything, i apply my principles for buying a car- function, low cost to own, aesthetically pleasing. Will it take me from point A to B in safety, comfort while being reliable and looking good (Toyota/Subaru loyalist here)? I can never understand incurring debt to purchase luxury items like LV on 90% credit. I dont flaunt owning branded things, but might brag about getting a deal on mid range designer items for 60% off though😂.

Ingitera, insecure, mayabang, feeling better than anybody, competition, chismosa, etc. I'm 22 yrs.living here in NewZealand married to a British and NZ nationality. Im so tired of the Pinoy toxic culture😊Peace.❤❤❤
