Hi Ray where I've improved is around the green which like you I struggled with but through the winter I've been practicing 8 & 9 iron bump and run's as I'm still not confident with say my 56 or 60 and to be fair as a 23 HC I'm regularly shooting in the mid 80's which I hope to take forward into this season and get my HC below 20
That course looks pretty hard mate must have a high slope rating so you should get a extra shot, looks great can't remember much of the course from the muppets visit keen for another look 👍

Are there any all inclusive hotels in Abu Dhabi...the last time i was there i was in the st Regis which is a cracking hotel but cost a chunk of change....i think our golf society would love it there but the cost could be prohibitive

Golf is a cruel game, when your driving is pure, then your irons are inconsistent , and when your irons are good, then chipping and putting turn their back on you...I guess thats why pro's are pro's, they can get at least 3 of those four skills to fire all at once.....As much as i love the game of golf, I'm often reminded that its a four letter word.
You'll have to warm up next time Rory and you don't to hit to many shots into the sand dune areas a tough looking course. Your driving is so good and iron play but as you know it all has to come together on and around the greens.
Why so negative before hitting short irons? You are a single figure player, positive thoughts! Picture the shot, play the shot. Sure rest of round will be better. Rushing onto tee doesn’t help.(pot kettle from me)
No real improvement for me anywhere sadly... I’m an 11 with the short game of a 3 and the iron game of a 27 😂. My last two scores are 79 and 89 at the same TPC course 10 days apart. Someday I’ll have time to practice but with two kids at home if I leave the house I’m playing, not working on my game 🤷🏼♂️
It is though. You can see the semi line cut about 2 feet behind my legs bruh. Regardless...anything that's not in ankle deep rough, OOB or a bunker is a fairway hit in my book. 😉

You need a 64 deg wedge mate. I carry one and U can hammer them for the short flop shops! Its an old Taylormade XFt wedge

Yep! Can be brutal around the greens if you're not on it with your approach shots. Fun challenge though!
