- At RoboGames 2012 in San Mateo Ca. Here is a fight between a Combot called " Last Rites" from Team Hardcore and Mosquito a new tough 4 wheel wedge bot....As always He is a MEAN spinner and is Mosquito tough enough??? Lets see!
Props to the Mosquito builders for building something that resilient. That was a HUGE hit.

Unlike this arena, we travel around the country and do shows at lots of venues (we have about 16 HW events a year between the 2 organizers). The set-up time would be unfeasible, and the cost of the polycarb for the roof is too much, plus the extra transport cost.
I've been saying the only way a non-spinner has a decent chance against a big spinner is to ram them hard. This vid seems to say otherwise, but you do notice Last Rites *also* flew around in the collision. Ecoff's Rule: "The harder you hit a spin-bot, the more equal the flight of both bots". If you use the fast-ram technique, you need a bot designed to be bounced around at least as much as the spinner bot. Light taps may save your bot, but won't win. Being a non-spinner, you should have more room for internal gut padding: your defense is your offense. 4 independent wheel motors & drives also helps survivability.

because they don't want to build an arena that isn't largely constructed out of wood?
lol no worries. It's more than glass. Clear polycarbonate I think.

tbh i'm not accusing you of anything.
there's just so much smack throw around by people (on both sides of the Atlantic) by people who clearly have less than deep knowledge of the sport.
sometimes you just feel like you need to give people a reality check.
realistically, considering that ComBots is calling it quits (a shame), one gets the impression the way you guys do things may come with some limitations, but it's a lot more financially sustainable.
