Great video, loved it, nothing sugar coated. From a Panamanian living in the USA for many many maaany years, Americans love to criticize Panama about trash on the street, well guess what. There is tons of trash in DC, specially in the tourist area, on the highway, I even seen mattresses and furniture left on shoulder side of highways... and if you go to NYC, it is worse!
I'm Panamanian and In 2014 I went to NYC for a short vacation, and so many restaurants were cheaper there than in Panamá, the same thing in grocery stores, Panamá can be very expensive in those areas.
Totally true! Just got back from my first long "reconnaissance" mission to Panama, and am now focused on El Valle. Coming from rural NC, groceries and restaurants were ~20% more expensive than here. However, all fresh fruits/veggies are far cheaper (when bought from vendors)... and so are seafood, chicken, and pork (and of much higher quality). I'm a horticulturalist, so I plan on simply growing my own... or buying from neighbors, as they ALL have chickens and gardens! Working on my Spanish, and can't wait to move!
Thanks for telling the truth about the prices of real estate in Panama. I was shocked that a small 700 sq foot apartment in Coronado was going for 200k.
I think I’m going to check out Panama but not the city, maybe the rural area and higher in altitude. I’m not afraid of heat or humidity. I live in south Florida but I’d like a microclimate with a mix of growing options. Maybe a town with a city within 70/80 miles.
1903. I watched a documentary last week. :) I am struggling to find the right location for our family. I am from Houston so I am used to humidity and don’t mind. I HATE Indiana winters we have lived in foe the last several years. I see a lot of expat retirees videos, but not so many families. I want to live near expats and Panamanians. Thanks for the videos!
I'm a Panamanian living in TX and I agree with everything you said. I'm just curious about how common it is for Americans to get naturalized. Is that still a feasible path for Americans? (my wife is American, I sometimes wonder if she'd benefit at all from getting Panamanian citizenship if we decided to move to Panama one day.)
Hey Anel... There's definitely precedent for Americans getting naturalized here. It certainly takes a while but I know quite a few people have been successful. The main advantages I would say are being able to open up a bank account easier, being able to vote, and knowing who to root for when the Marea Roja juega contra los gringos ;)
Panama is nice but also has become quite expensive. It is like the US in the fact that you will pay to live in a nice area. There are plenty of places around the globe that are cheap yet less desirable. Many cultures are very open to foreigners.
It's almost complete. Our impression is that it was sold mostly to European investors so there may be some rent cannibalization much like we saw in the Trump Ocean Club development. We're happy to provide some background on the developer and the market if you'd like to reach out to us directly, Lola. Thanks for visiting!
@@LM-cl6ys Hey Lola, that was a typo. We meant to say rent cannibalization...in other words, all of the investors fighting against each other for a tenant, so prices tend to go down quickly in a building if there's more than 30 days vacancy.
i can only laugh of my electricity bill i got here in panama - i had 10 times higher costs in Germany...Heating in Germany very expensive - i had to pay 5000 Euros a year heating up my house- that was bevore ukrainian war... Here i dont have to heat as climate is much better - here its not below onder 22 Degreed celsius - in Germany in Winter we often had MINUS 20 degreed celsius...In Germany, water is expensive - here they dont have water counters.... In Germany i have to pay 50 Euro/Year for a dog - the second dog costs 75 Euro/Year - here you dont have to pay tax for your dogs... Food prices are same or higher than in Germany - Bananas imported from panama costs in Germany 99 cents/kg - in Panama at the supermarked they cost 1,15 Dollar/kg - from outside street vendors - 10 small bananas - 1 kg: 1 Dollar. Whipping creme in Germany 200g - under 1 Dollar - here 2 to 3 Dollar - and not fresh only the boxed version available... Cheese in Germany: 2,50 Dollar, same cheese here: 5-6 Dollar... Butter in Germany: 250 grams: 2 Dollar when i was leaving germany - now 3 Dollar. Here in Panama the butteris high prize: i pay 2 the german price.Germany: chicken breast: 3 Dollar/Kg - here 6 to 7 Dollar /kg... Drinking water Germany: 1 liter 18 cents here in Panama 6 liter is nearly 4 Dollar.... I am so happy that my houe i bught has a well with dringing water as the tapwater where i stayed bevore smells and tastes like chlor.. Not really drinkable. In Germany tap water is perfect drinking water. Prices are high in imported goods but even non imported good are more expensive as in germany or if you are lucky- same price. Even if groceries are for me as german are high price: i spend less money than in germany as i dont have the big costs i had in germany... And the food has much more quality than the cheep ones in germany. As german i am very happy with living in Panama since Dez. 2021 - i am in much better condition - i had heart problem about all the non common sense politics in Germany - i felt very unsafe as a woman going outsidee house alone as i had beeing experienced assaults where i was happy that i was not unaware and not unarmed.... Several foreigners/refugeed tried to rob our property but i had a doberman who prevented problems...
@@PanamaequityRealEstate My experience? Um, yeah I was living in Panama when Carter signed the treaty with Torrijos. After that Torrijos urged Panamanians to walk through the Canal Zone as a final middle finger salute to the Americans. Don't ever think that Panamanians want you just for the sake of having gringos and other foreigners in their country. They want your money which is why the Pensionado program was established in the first place. No cash = no welcome.
@@victortoombs4754 Roger that! I'd be curious about owners of hostels who deal with budget travelers to see. You're right though, one thing is for sure: Panamanians "get" business. When was the last time you were down here?
@@PanamaequityRealEstate I was down there in February 2010 for two weeks with my parents when they were still alive. Before that I lived in the Canal Zone from 1968-1982. My house was literally a 5 minute walk from the Administration Building on Cerro Ancon. I used to go through it twice a day as I walked to and from Balboa HS. I still remember the chants of "Gringo go Home". I'm not trying to knock Panamanians in any way, just bring perspective and reality to the situation. Panama is a wonderful country with great people. I may one day even retire there because it sure beats living in Los Angeles!! The U.S. is getting worse and worse every day.

You should see certain areas of Oakland Ca.
Crime is way higher in Panama per capita
Bet Chicago had more murders this weekend
Yes, because DC and NYC are sh*tholes. Most of the US is not like that

Go to Merca Panama, Mercado San Felipe Neri, and Mercado del Marisco for cheap fruits vegetables, and fish. Think like a local.
Thank You for the insight. The factual content is most appreciated.
I like that your didn't sugar coat the facts like the heat and the 30% down on real estate.
Cheers!
Thanks for cleaning up myths, and providing understanding
I love Panama. But it IS hot and humid all year. Even on the Arco Seco it may not rain but it is humid.
Thank you for the great information. I am looking to potentially buy down there and found your agency.

He's right. Pecans are 2x the price. There are cheap restaurants on coasts, but in the City same price as USA.
