I love a video that starts like a suicide note
having a sponsor for ur suicide note is the ultimate flex
I think bill plays necrons
More of that please XD...
Have you ever thought of making a pirate ship.. but instead of it sailing on water, it is made out of junk to sail the desert sands. Now that is something I'd like to see you create: a desert ship
That was the immediate image that came to mind. I forgot the Gutterlands even had an ocean and assumed Capt. Charon would be sailing the Silt Sea in some kind of ramshackle repulsorlift craft. Maybe she's upgraded from water vessel to hover vessel? I imagine it's more difficult to sink a ship that isn't even properly IN the water.
I would love to see a Ruster Camp as the next big project. I'm imagining that they have all the amenities of a town, but everything is built on a movable platform so they can easily move form one place to another as needed.
good idea
All made of rust obviously, cos they're rusters, if it were made of stone they'd be called stoners
Came here to say just this!
Can you make a 1:1 scale robotic nappy next?
oh no! has the problem started again Boylei?
@@BillMakingStuff 😬
lol
I would imagine this might be considered quite scandalous
Both my favourite UA-camrs in one place, what are the odds! You guys should do a collaboration some time
Your music gets better the more I listen to it. There's a beautiful continuity through all the tracks, and then each track has its little fun details
I REALLY hope someone picks up your story to make a series. You deserve so many flowers for your creativity.
I agree. One time in my mind I was just thinking about how cool a Gutterlands movie could be.
And, hopefully gives Cat the credit he deserves. This stuff is all Cat's idea.
OMG I never thought I'd be THAT excited to see the whole town of Respite come together, but boy did I fangirl all over the final shots... and Captain Charon too. Totally get why Mr Mayor has a thing for her. Also thank you so much for addressing the robot nappy issue, a truly defining detail for a character.
Ngl, my silly self is not only excited for the next project and the game, but also for the fanfiction possibilities... I got surprisingly invested in the whole Gutterlands world even though I never thought this would be my aesthetic or something. But your stories and creativity are on the next level!
I hope Bill shows us how to make crustard one day.
Everyone's art was amazing, had to actually audibly say "wow" several times lol. Also love how immersive the clip at the end felt!
"....said the serial killer" 😂
I still think that the old cool dude with the bionics looks like Cohen the Barbarian from the Disc world saga books.... for some reason looks like the type of grandpa everyone wants.
That small town looks amazing! I really like the vibes it give!
Your talents really come through now that Respite has been put together in one shot! Excellent work!
a sherif station with jail/police departament thingy could be nice, like in western movies
When I saw you paint Charon's (that's pronounced "Charon" by the way, hope that helps ...) jacket I was thinking "wtf is he doing" then you applied this blue glaze and "Oh that really makes sense now".
Again, your videos are very inspirational.
Thanks. And bravo, has we say in my part of the world.
I think too much about things, and your planet of Tapu and the Gutterlands captured my imagination a bit, and I have a pet theory about it that I wanted to share with you, Bill. Tapu is the interstellar dumping ground for all the weapons from the galactic war, as the galactic civilization has embraced peace, as you say. But something bothered me - why dump all the deadliest, worst technology on a living planet, with a functioning biosphere, and not, say, a dead world of vacuum and lava? Now, yeah, Rust organisms to break it all down, but they could be nanotech that would work in vacuum. I have a theory...
The galactic civilization would want to get rid of more than just weapons, I am thinking. They also have a problem with those beings - human, machine, and alien - that just can't let go of violence. A percentage of the population that just loves, or needs, brutal, adventurous, violent activity in their lives. All the potential war-lords and heroes and villains (if they only had the opportunity!) - all the broken people who cannot stand to live in a peaceful galaxy.
Tapu is an open, self-check-in prison for these dangerous sorts. An open secret, where those so inclined would discover, or be subtly encouraged to discover, a means to get past the blockades, past the barriers, and down to the surface. Where they always crash. There is no way to leave Tapu. Once there, you are forever there. All planned. All part of the program. It's a cosmic roach-motel for the violently inclined galactic citizen; they check in (by crashing!) and they never leave. They get the life they truly want, though, so this fits the ethics of the galactic counsel or whatever. They self-select to go there, it's their choice, and they have to want it badly enough to find a way to get to the planet. Perfect.
I think the owner of the post office, and the only communications system on Tapu is in on it. He knows the deal. The galactic government made him an offer he cannot refuse, and he keeps an eye on the folks who end up in the Gutterlands for them. He makes very sure nobody ever creates a working starship to leave, so that none of the violent, dangerous tech - or people - can escape. There may be others working with him, also in on the deal. The deal is simple: everyone in the Gutterlands gets to avoid criminal punishment and live free on Tapu, so long as nothing nasty escapes the planet. Less 'wardens' than 'protectors of the peaceful galaxy' who are also protecting themselves. They subtly, secretly control things, behind the scenes for the benefit of all the folks on Tapu.
So, in summary, my notion is that Tapu is the dumping ground for not only war technology, but also a self-selecting prison for those who crave to use such war technology. The ultimate undesirables in an enlightened and peaceful galaxy would be people who think war and violence are fun and interesting. All the restless, adventurous sorts. The folks for whom peace is not enough.
If you like this angle, feel free to use it however you want, I make no claim, it is yours if you want it. It just seems, well, obvious to me. They put the worst weapons ever created on a living planet with a native biosphere filled with life. You don't do that unless you have a damn good reason, because worlds teeming with life, even the worst ones, are surely precious in a universe of mostly dead rocks. Anyway, those are my thoughts on the matter.
I love this! Bill I hope you at least don't hate this theory, because it's now lodged in my head as well!
WOW, that town looks awesome. I almost expected some sort of stop-action clip of the main characters walking about the street(s).
Well done, Bill!
Suggestion for how you can make an art book on every sketch in your sketchbook….
Take close ups on each individual doodle character in your sketchbook, maybe if needed you could use a macro lens??? It’s just a thought. I think it would be fun to maybe sell them individually, like a “collect them all” type card.
Perhaps a copy of your entire sketchbook total copy of your sketchbook, and make it look exactly the same on the outside?
Just some ideas….
Such talent and skill. Beautiful painting 😍😍
This channel has such a distinct style. Bill's unique editing, art, music, jokes, the colour palette, etc. I find it all very inspiring.
Bill never fails to put a smile on my face!!
Loved the glamor shots at the end. Great work.
Cpt Sharon has a suppressor on her pistol, as in it’ll make it a wee bit quieter. Together with the katana and whip/rope, she could be named Justice Whisperer.
The vape was a fun touch
I do have to say bill, your painting skills have drastically improved
Breathtaking, can’t wait to see a not-necessarily-violent event report unfolding in Respite. Awesome increasing painting skills too!
Wow, the shots of Respite, altogether at the end are epic. You've done an amazing job Bill and truly inspiring.
Love these two. Respite and its citizens have been a huge inspiration for me, so thank you for sharing. Looking forward to more stories from the Rustlands.
Chef's kiss with the dust blowing by in the end cinematic and smooth camera pans. Also brilliant art from the patrons.
colostomy bags are generally done on a person's front for ease of use by the person who uses them
so handler hank either needs a carer/assistant or that robotic nappy pack has a dumping hose hiding somewhere
After watching the whole Gutterlands series, I gotta say this universe is by far one of the most interesting ive seen and cant wait to see it expand as time goes on
Heh, on the video about the Goodle Shack I told you that Charon is pronounced "Karon", not "Sharon", since I was under the impression that the good Captain was named after the Ferryman on the River of the Dead.
Clearly I was mistaken, and humbly accept your proper pronounciation... even though she's not (as far as we know) married to Ozzy Osborne.
Everything looks so cool together! 😍
I think Hank needs an apprentice incase something were to happen to him (possibly something to do with a giant robot seeking revenge) he needs someone to pass his knowledge down to, the town would slowly deteriorate without him.
The drawing section was awesome! What a bunch of fun cool art.
Amazing to see it all together like that. Would be perfect wide angle shots for a Terrahawks style show set in the Gutterlands.
So awesome to see this build come together.
that's it.... I'm turning my HO train in the basement into a junkland like this. i enjoy the background and design process(what little there is)
As someone who likes to create their own characters and give them back stories as well. I would use all 3 names. Captain Karon Sharon Chairon. Excellent work, well done.
Such a rich and vibrant town. Can’t wait to see what’s next! Robot nappies could save a lot of time 🤔
Never bored with Bill. Your gloomy grey is so charming. Love the showcase. Make a giant robo city like a traveling caravan looking for its arm. Meat mountain foreva
Your painting has really improved the last couple of years. Well done, mate.
Looks wonderful!
You need houses...
Only shops (with a home on top) and so on is not a town.
You need low level house blocks and apartment buildings.
That would be a nice addition to the town!
Love your show!
🎉
I've just recently started an insane new project. I found a three foot long aircraft carrier toy at a thrift store and I'm converting it into a Gaslands death-race track/trading depot. It's wildly out of scale but it's looking amazing.
Love the Patron drawings.😊
You are getting ridiculously good at painting minis, like watching how much you have improved over the years has been very inspiring ❤ you helped me get over being intimidated by regular mini paints enough to set down my speed paints and try them out. Now I absolutely love painting minis with them :) thanks for all the great content Bill!
Respite looks _sooo_ good!
I did yell for the head with the scar, so thanks for taking my input 🫡
WELL DONE!!
Such a Charon…. By the way Bill, the town took my breath away. It’s been amazing being in this ride with all of yous!
I so love these kitbash videos you make, there's so much character in these minis. I hope we get to see them in a battle report for the skirmish game you're working on 👀 great job, Bill!
Soooo cool.
Every building has somebody, sometimes.
When Bill started work on Handler Hank, I felt he'd got a bit of an "Axel Pressbutton" vibe going on. 😎👍
Great kitbashing and world building again. The outro shots of the town are very atmospheric.
Saw every build, love to see it all come together. Would have loved to see your inhabitants inside the town and it all screams „put some light inside me!“❤
Hank's waste machine should be called a "colostomy bot" instead of a colostomy bag lol
Added baking soda to my crustard and it became a fantastic foam-like paste
I'm just glad Bill finally gave the crustard recipe, about time really
I watch your videos on the big screen to see all the details. 😊 After watching, I work on my mini tavern made from a TV double-thick cardboard box. 😊
This was a fantastic episode. Loved seeing the town and its inhabitants in all their glory. The whole thing is beautifully evocative.
would be awesome, if you make such a cruise ship next, fitting in the universe, bigger scale, out of chunk... would tell a bit more about the space traveling aspect
This is so so excellent, the town looks amazing and vibrant!!
The amazing ending scene gives me huge The Neverhood flashbacks. I can totally see it being the scenery for a stop motion animation or game. Something Double Fine-ish. Looking forward to your new game!
Music during the final shots was awesome! Great seeing the whole town together.
Love that you use spare parts to create somthing brilliant and its not straight out from the box, brilliant drawings love both figures and the story behind respite the video at the end looks like something you'd see in a movie! Well done bill 👏
We can meme all we like, but Bill’s brush control and ability to paint ON CAMERA is incredible. Anything less said about it is incorrect
Nice characters you made there. The town looks great. Always an inspiration. Thanks for sharing
Good work! It’s nice to see the whole town
We could almost say it's time for a respite.. eh? eh??
Okay I'll see myself out
His waste machine should be called a "colostomy bot" instead of a colostomy bag lol
It was very kind of you to show, at last, how to make custard!
Captain Charon is my favourite, I love her enormous gun. I also love the shots of the town as a whole; you really see all the immense detail in it. Watching these videos is definitely a good thing!
Soooooo did u know, Bentley House Miniatures has a space traveling captain of a ship with the same name? I love thinking that she is now in Respite
You really are an artist. The level of detail is amazing!
Cheers mate
Simply spectacular! I love the glamour shots of Respite at the end.
Thanks for making stuff, Bill
Love the content bill, it'll be sad to see less of respite in the future. It's been an amazing ride. It's beautiful and your model paint job is on point! Keep up the good work and love the results!
I was sweating at the beginning.... screaming: No Bill, no Bill!!!! ................... nah i didn't. But I love you Bill ❤❤❤
I gotta see you build that titan bot with the missing arm... and watch him head to the robot shop 😂😂
Why is there not a single guy in glasses with a red beard among the residents who walks back and forth with his Cat, talking to him? And he tries to convince the other residents that the Cat answers him and only him.
i looked away when you showed us how to make crustard, i think you need to explain it again
Music is giving strong Startopia (PC game, composed by Martin Oliver) vibes. Love it!
Look at Bill edge highlighting like a genuine GW painter! Question, does captain Karon keep her booty in her fanny pack? Also, the knee pad doesn't hide a mistake! To illustrate, let me quote from my german engineering friends - "We do not make mistakes, we only find opportunities for improvement. Sometimes we improve ourselves into a corner from which no further improvement is possible. That is when we start the "customer requirements" document" So you have just identified an opportunity for improvement.
Hank really said "when i saw the weaknesses of the flesh, i aspired for the certainty of steel"
I don't know which of the miniatures is better, because they are both great, but i'm certain of two things:
1. the video editing is fantastic as always, and
2. please make some more miniatures, they're are so cool! (just film it too)
I have really been enjoying the stories you tell about this world. Thanks for sharing it with us.
REAlly nice kitbashing. Looking forward to see the whole thing done. Great video as well.
Very impressive, Bill, the scratchbuild/hackbuild part and the superb painting, its all coming together. A favourite? Erm...not sure about that but if I was looking at them, [in the flesh?] I'd probably pick Hank up first for a closer look - does that help?
You're so dosh darn lovely, Billiam Makingstuff. ❤
Nice 28mm's, as usual. And great background, canon information. 🙂
EXCELLENT WORK
Love this series man, really hope respite gets more love in the future
But I would love to see other places in the world! Ruster Camp, maybe modular dungeon pieces for your stargrave crews to spelunk in? :)
Loved this video Bill!
Absolutely sick work
The body is the chommisar from the baneblade kit
Honestly, Hank seems pretty relatable.
Handler Hank, had an idea for a loner in the wastelands who repaired bots that made a pilgrimage to his shop. He'd fix them for free as long as they brought him something interseting, they'd found on the way there.
Love the kitbash!!! ❤😊❤
Stocked to see the core of respite completed! Looking forward to what comes next. Thank you for all the inspiration and the effort you put in.❤🏴☠️🦑🙏
Would love to see a comic that takes place in Respite/The Gutterlands!
