- Residents and soldier run to take shelter as the rocket alert siren wails in the northern city of Kiryat Shmona, near the Lebanon border, amid cross-border fighting. Some 19,646 people have left villages in south Lebanon due to cross-border fire between Hezbollah and Israel, according to the UN's International Organization for Migration.

No. Both men and women are required to serve in the Israeli Army, but women can only serve in certain brigades that are not on the frontline, but since units tend to rotate around a lot, most likely this was a mixed men-women unit, but just a squad of women, that is stationed here to provide security for the border region.
