Due to Whose Mistake, this Superhit Song had to be Dropped From the Film?

The video of the song is not online except the audio can be heard innumerable times as once is simply not enough. The movie is in black and white and 52 years later, it seems as fresh as it was then. The song finds a comfortable place in anyone's heart after merely hearing it once. And then one like to hear it again and again. A sailor cannot stay in one port forever. There is no permanency in the traveling schedule. And this sailor needs to port his ship in this harbor(heroine's heart) and sail no further. And there lies the dilemma as he is on a mission. The undecided nature and the uncertainty make one's heart go asunder as most of us want a commitment in a relationship especially when we know that this is the person for us. And when there is no definite answer, all hell breaks loose in the heart for it is all we have. It is our entire world.
Poor OP Nayyar. Another beautiful composition that bit the dust. According to one version, the song was picturised on Joy Mukherjee and Sadhana, but deleted from the final print because they found the film was too long. Another version says that when Ek Musafir Ek Hasina was released, it was a phenomenal flop. And that the prints were hurriedly collected, a new song (Main pyar ka raahi hoon) shot with the lead pair, inserted into the film, which was re-released to become a resounding success. If that were true, then we should have a video clip of this song, but unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm betting that this is another of those songs that were unfortunately discarded before the film hit the theatres. It is a shame actually; this is such a fantastic duet. Just listen to Asha trill the verses. Rafi, as usual, is at his mellow best. Lovely!

I am 76 years old . In my teens I have seen this movie, and enjoyed the popular song, but our bad luck that the song was not included in film due some disheartening facts. Above all we still enjoy this melodious song
