When I was young funny cars looked like this. There was Tommy, Gene, Don, Tom, The Shoe, Roland, Coil, John, Mickey, Jungle I thought I was in heaven........
i have been to at least one dragrace a year for the past 35 years. i still get goose bumps everytime one of these things fire up! it will never get old.
Anyone out there remember the beach city Corvette roaster. Pat Foster and Gary Gablitich drove the car. I thought it was one of best looking funny car around!
I can’t get over how crystal clear your video is. I don’t know what the difference is between yours and others videos, but yours are like I am actually there!
This is incredible video quality. usually to watch something on You Tube this clear, l have to have it set to "720 pi" or more and let it buff for five minutes for every ten seconds of video. When that happens ' l give it up and go do something else. Totally takes the pleasure out of what l want to watch.
The stands were always packed and they would have burnout competitions and the crowd with cheer on their favorite car. Little Red Wagon Hemi under glass wheelie cars the school bus. Damn what a great time to be alive.
I wish everybody could have experienced what it was like in the 70s we had Jungle Jim and Pam the Blue Max Gene snow ramchargers Brutus Ed McCullough Don Prudhomme the snake Tom McEwen the mongoose too many to list. It was especially at night when they would run 100% Nitro and the Flames would go over the roof of the car. of course I'm speaking of Detroit Dragway I don't know how many other dragway's got away with 100% Nitro. 😄
Some thing a company like John Force racing or others should consider doing, incorepating a 60 or 70 muscle car funny car body onto one of thier modern up to todate funny car Chassis. Would definately be a welcomed fan boost from thier as i callem BUBBLE TOPPED bodies.
Did "Chasing My Dream" try to do a "Dry Hop" while coming to the line, or was my eyes deceiving me? Good vid keep othem coming!!! I remember seeing car like these at 131 Martin Dragway. The Midwest always had the best funny car shows!
🤩🇺🇸👍Saw Brutus when I was kid at Long Island's National Speedway in Manorville. We could hear them 10 miles away on Friday evening! Told pop & we'd be there Saturday night, flames spitting!! MAGA 2024🤩🇺🇸👍
@GW H I know I'm just saying anything with a funnycar body you would expect to at least run high 5's on the 1/4mile....ESPECIALLY in today's racing world where you have fox body Mustangs with X275 tires that run 6's on the 1/4mile.
@GW H yep true....only problem I have is that NHRA tries to slow the cars down too much...its dragracing & cars suppose to be fast & innovative....if teams find extra or more power it should be all about advancement in speeds BUT NHRA implemented EFI but removed the scoops & made them suck in the hottest air on track right at the bottom of the front grille & then they implemented a 10,500 rpm limit.....The 3 Pro classes should only have the weight rule, engine size ,normally aspirated ( Prostock )
These are 60-70's era Funny cars not Top Fuel funny cars. They also don't have to rebuild the engines after every pass. Today's pro stock engines cost more than a complete Nostalgia car. Enjoy them for what they were without those cars back in the day there would be no 3 sec. Funny Cars today.
Funny cars might be a lot faster now, but they were so much cooler when they resembled real cars
Agree!
totally agree.. that's what always attracted me to them.
I agree as well, and the names were way cooler, Chi-Town Hustler, Blue Max, Hawaiian, Etc.
Great old funny cars are the best
Thanks for sharing a friend from Canada Rob ✌
I agree with that.

Thank you that means a lot!

And always gets a shot of the scoreboards after the run.
The "ground pounding" funny cars, AWESOME !!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Great stuff, excellent video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I remember these when I was a child
Thanks for watching!
✴️Old school funnycars are better looking than the new funnycars ✴️
Agree!
TOO BAD JUNGLE JIM COULDN'T HAVE BEEN THERE……………………...
The sad part was there's nobody in the stands.
I was surprised as well that day!
Typical for Joliet. They never promote anything
The cars were way cooler for back then
Love nostalgia FC.....just wish they could do the ol' side by side, long smokey burnouts ✌😎
Found myself with a little extra time on my hands.. this is a perfect fit to what I was just doing for kicks.. Great Old School racing.. new sub..
I love the nostalgia fuel coupes !!! Those were some of the best times of my life when I practically lived at SIR !!!
Also known as Pacific raceway park, I lived there every weekend!!!
When I'm not body surfing, I like to watch Drag Racing especially Funny Car.!!
This would be more awesome if Jungle Jim was in there
Funn"tastick"!! Love those days!!
The stands were always packed and they would have burnout competitions and the crowd with cheer on their favorite car. Little Red Wagon Hemi under glass wheelie cars the school bus. Damn what a great time to be alive.

LiONS & OCIR & IRWINDALE GAVE THE BEST SHOWS
I was blessed enough to have both Force Prudome one night back in '73. Life has been good so far...(Joe Walsh)

Turn it up! Man, they sound great!
👍

Here we have old-school funny car chaos
Where's the backup chicks?
Yea Like Pam ?
Dont forget the Hurst Girls
When drag cars had names
Gotta say Brutus was the best looking one out there
Agree!
These sound like alcohol funny cars... But they're just as cool as fuel funny cars
Yessss!!!!
А что будет если сбросить сцепление на таком аппарате?
Its crazy to think a Volvo wagon on drag week ran a 6 second quarter mile this year......lol
My times have changed, still love these old cars though.
That Volvo was insane LOL
DAM, normally aspirated 500 cubic inch Prostocks outrun these funnycars.

@@RSDX99 I know what they are but just saying a normally aspirated car can outrun these funnycars with blown hemis
What I would like to see is maybe 4 races in NHRA run these bodies. No points, just money
👍
on gas? burnouts were weak
old car is more beautiful and better
Nice but alcohol ain't nitro it don't even sound the same.
Lol yeah weak 7 and 8 second times, and what, a lame 1000ft track. Not the real funny cars I remember seeing by any stretch.
Back in the Day Must be the 70s .Mite not be 10.000 HP. Lovey 2 C
They look great they definitely are a little lazy I'm sorry
Ex-wife is the women in the rainbow wig & shower cap : think pennzoil motors sports
Lucas motor oil & kendall motor oil rainbow wigs
You can't ride one these at any 6 Flags
I love Mustangs. But, not from 1971 to 1973. Totally ugly for a street vehicle.
This is a dying sport 😔
Where does the money come from? How do you pay for this very expensive hobby?
