This looks to be generational, and Obama nostalgia. Bernie, unfortunately, completely lacks charisma. For that reason, it's very hard for him to conclusively 'win' a debate, no matter how much more right he is.
Also, he's just not that good of a debater. Bernie doesn't really attack or respond to attacks: he just does his stump speech. This is good against Trump in the general because it means he stays on message and doesn't get in the mud with Trump, while explaining his agenda and understanding. In the primary, with normal and more coherent and (perhaps most importantly) credible opponents attacking him with seemingly sensible criticisms, his pivot is frustrating and probably damaging, since he doesn't answer the (very and easily answerable, but mostly bad-faith) concerns of his rivals, leaving the audience with the impression that he either couldn't answer or just didn't for whatever reason, thus leaving the concern in the viewer's mind.
@Glühfunke I would describe that more as just authenticity, rather than as charisma. He doesn't attract people because he's charismatic (as Obama or Clinton did), but because he's authentic and honest (also because of his policies and record).

Bernie needs to flip the script on the question, "How are you going to pay for Medicare for All?" The question to Biden needs to be, "The latest studies say that maintaining the current health insurance system costs about $450 BILLION more per year than Medicare for All. How do you pay for that?"

It turned out that the abscess I was suffering with was because of a golden cap that had a hole in it, and nothing short of removing it was going to address the problem. By the time the dentist gave up and removed it, the infection had infiltrated my sinus cavity and infected the whole of my upper cavity and eaten about 2/3 of my upper jaw bone. Biden did well in not looking incoherent, but he lost on substance. Sanders won on record and exposing Joe for his poor decisions over the last 30 years. The sad truth is this debate didn't matter, as a majority of Americans don't want change, and are perfectly happy with the status quo. If and when the shit hits the fan, they'll only be able to blame themselves. Again, the people get the govt they deserve.
The saddest part is that it is not all of us. If Biden becomes or Trump stays president, it basically means there is no hope for my whole generation and the generations after for a decent life. It is not just that I can barely support myself in the United States. I live in Taiwan now, mostly because I couldn't get sustainable job/career, but at this rate, I can't and wouldn't want to raise a family in the United States because I want my theoretical children to have a shot at life. I want them to be able to get a decent education without being in massive debt, to get decent healthcare without having to go bankrupt, and go to school without getting shot.

This 2020 Presidential Campaign is a disappointment for two reasons: The candidates are old and ready to retire and the young people simply didn't come out to vote for the more progressive of the two men on stage.

Bernie Sanders should say that he will do whatever he can to support the people of Cuba and Venezuela to move away from a failed economy and bad leaderships to a more balanced social democracy like Europe's with a lots of support to manufacturing and fair trade deals. That might clear up the confusion and make clear that he is with the people of those countries and not with the failed leaders. And don't forget how the USA embargo is not helping their country to develop.

Sanders won. He was more accurate and articulate, and more generally and precisely informed than Biden. While Joe was much more lucid and articulate than he has generally been in recent times, he still occasionally misspoke and was vague or erroneous at times. Joe is clearly not as alert, informed or able to explain his policies and intentions as Bernie.

I didn't say anything about M4A but if you want to go there, Medicare option is a false choice as it will create a weak insurance pool. Insurance only works when the pool is "fair" and equal. Meaning each member has an equal probability of needing the insurance. In this case you need the whole population to make the pool equitable. Ever other industrialized country on earth has a single payer system. What is so unique about America?

There are two choices, come together by supporting the winner between Bernie or Joe or accept that you helped keep Trump in office. Not voting because your candidate didn't win is the same as keeping Trump in office and it's a cop out and it makes things worst. There comes a time when you have to work with what you have.

This is good against Trump in the general because it means he stays on message and doesn't get in the mud with Trump, while explaining his agenda and understanding. In the primary, with normal and more coherent and (perhaps most importantly) credible opponents attacking him with seemingly sensible criticisms, his pivot is frustrating and probably damaging, since he doesn't answer the (very and easily answerable, but mostly bad-faith) concerns of his rivals, leaving the audience with the impression that he either couldn't answer or just didn't for whatever reason, thus leaving the concern in the viewer's mind.

Can’t believe Biden didn’t own his vote for the Iraq war. He’s disqualified and certainly not an option for me on Election Day.
Sanders won. He was more accurate and articulate, and more generally and precisely informed than Biden. While Joe was much more lucid and articulate than he has generally been in recent times, he still occasionally misspoke and was vague or erroneous at times. Joe is clearly not as alert, informed or able to explain his policies and intentions as Bernie.
I don't care what anyone tries to say to make me feel guilty or selfish. I won't vote for anyone but Bernie Sanders and I live in a swing state. After this process and seeing how vast and blatant the media bias in this country is, I refuse to vote for a Party that shows ZERO moral superiority to the Republicans.

Your vote is your only voice in this political process and I believe that people (if informed) should vote based on their beliefs. Regardless of Party Affiliation and "Electability". That being said, I don't believe what Warren says and I can't support her after this display of anti-progressive behavior.
It's disgraceful how the American electorate votes based on an intangible variable like "electability" rather than policy. Poll after poll says the people like Bernie's policies overwhelmingly but Biden is more electible. Which is akin to saying "I think that you think but what I think is not important." For goodness sakes, vote based on the policy you like and trust your fellow Americans to do the same.

I didn't say anything about M4A but if you want to go there, Medicare option is a false choice as it will create a weak insurance pool. Insurance only works when the pool is "fair" and equal. Meaning each member has an equal probability of needing the insurance. In this case you need the whole population to make the pool equitable. Ever other industrialized country on earth has a single payer system. What is so unique about America?

I just dont get why Bernie did not immediately stop Dana Bash in her tracks and call her out on her counter-question, and ask her why she does not follow up Biden's lie about cutting social security. Doing that would have exposed a lot of their bias for the viewer.
Because Joe is his friend and he doesn't seem to have the awareness to realize that if he doesn't go after his opponents hard on things like that, that he won't ever win.

Cenk got this spot on. People are now railing from the tumultuous changes that have happen since 2016. Revolutionary changes that Bernie is calling for (and many do agree for them) are huge; however, people need time to recover and some people are just resistant to change(some of my generation and older) unless you have an epiphany. After what this country has been through, I don't think it's really possible to go back to the "Pax Americana" time people THINK we had. Why? Because the only true constant in this life is change. Unfortunately, there are those people who are extremely resistant to change and don't get that even in the minute details of this life, change is ongoing. However, change is not a bad thing......
The future must be grasped with both hands.
You can hide from change, but change will find you. Why not pick the battleground?

I think this has happened before: Biden said, "look it up, you go to you tube" I don't know why people do that; do they think we won't take a minute to find out who is telling the truth? Once I do that, I am insulted that he lied to my face and thought I was too lazy to look.

I agree with cenk here. The other two felt like fox news host when they are speaking about Trump. But that being said. This was one of the better debates. They need to not put in a audience from now own.
I always hated the idea of having an audience at a debate. It adds nothing.
The debate flowed better without interruption of audience.

There are two choices, come together by supporting the winner between Bernie or Joe or accept that you helped keep Trump in office. Not voting because your candidate didn't win is the same as keeping Trump in office and it's a cop out and it makes things worst.
There comes a time when you have to work with what you have.
You're making the same mistake as everyone else ... those "neverBiden" people aren't voting for a candidate ... they're voting for policy.
That's why who ever is president doesn't matter, what matters is what they act on.
It is about honest elections is it your vote that matters or who they pick for you. Honest is the key word.
