Seems like that Navara has some water damage inside. Could be a flood car? You should change the oils from the engine, gearbox, transfer box, and rear axle differential. Change the timing chain, and paint the chassi with a antigravel coat of paint. Enjoy it.
Great find and a nice complement to your super car fleet. I'm doing a similar thing with a bargain neglected 2008 Toyota Tundra. The mechanical issues were pretty simple. It took some light body work, lots of elbow grease inside and out, and it's shaping up to be a nice truck, just like this Nissan. Keep up the good work! I like how you pay attention to and remedy the little details, the seen and unseen. It'll be interesting to see what you do with the outside and chip away at the issues causing the warning lights.
Definitely looks as though it had been in deep water.. Don't know how how much it costs, but the spray on bed liner that's popular in the States might help tidy it up. Great find though, and thanks for the upload.
I just love car cleaning videos and also cleaning my car, it is so refreshing. The perfect state of an interior is when you want to get in with no shoes.
You did a perfect job of cleaning the interior of your new Nissan. It looks immaculate inside now!!! About the the people who owned it before you would think someone smart enough to buy a nice new truck like this would be smart enough to take care of it properly!!
Chain guides issues well known on this model, chain guides slip, causing issues with camshaft sprockets, crankshaft pulley, if it slips jumps of sprockets. Bang goes your engine. Also issues with DPF, clockspring in steering wheel causing issues with SRS system. X 3 brake caliper seizing. I know I have spent about £2K sorting these problems out over the last year after buying one with full service history. Good luck.
mike paton My 2008 Nissan Pathfinder with the 4.0 V6 has some timing chain whine. Though it isn’t as loud as others that I’ve heard it’s still concerning. 167,000 miles on the odo. It’s unfortunate these D40 and R51 models are plagued with weird and unnecessary problems.
FYI Scott, for trim cleaning and small knobs and etc it's best done with a tooth brush, used one will do just fine. It gets all the small debris out and then you just vacuum it or vacuum as you go. I see you're a clean freak as am I so I though I'd share 😁
Looks like the Titan over here in the US. We hardly ever get their small turbo diesel engines over here of course. Looks like they used it to store all their leftover food after they ate it on the floor and seats but it's amazing what a proper cleanup will do for a basically solid but badly neglected car. Looks like you'll have a great cheap to run parts runner and family truckster when it's all sorted.
I agree. No one can spill that much drinks and food in a car. You would have to drench the seats completely to get it that bad. Did someone really still use this car in that condition before selling it?
@@jan-hendrikbussmann4644 with that signaling tape on the bed, we could suspect that it was a vehicle used in mines. With conditions like floodings, being almost usual. Another problem that usually occurs with vehicles used in mines, is rust.
As the guy from the UA-cam channel Autoshine cars would say, "It's desguustin"! He would have taken out the front seats as well to give the seats a good clean, plus gives you would would get really good access to the front of the cabin.
We had a 54 plate new at work, biggest pain was the 5k mile oil changes. I was on first name terms with the Nissan service counter lass😂. Good luck finding a NBC suit at the moment😉
A classical builders truck. Never been cleaned and still runs on the original oil. I would have gone for it, in a heartbeat. Great buy. 👍🏻🇩🇰🙋🏻♂️ Actually the last three letters on the licenceplate; NEJ, means NO in Danish. 😂
Leather is shiny -> Greasy. A cleaned leather has a matt finish. You should have use strong leather cleaner before adding some shine with the balm ! Good job anyway
What a nice change, it was good to see you looking for a little truck, and watching what you are doing with it, love the Ferrari stuff but I'm just dreaming! Look forward to the next one on the Nissan. 👍
I bought the same Navara for £3250 on a Saturday knowing it had a chassis recall, by Thursday I sold it back to Nissan as it failed inspection for £5350!! Great Truck even better profit!! Check your chassis recall.
You really need to be careful with mold in cars. I strongly recommend a proper carpets out clean. Mold spores will mess you up. A little bit of bleach in the wash water as well. As for the chassis you should give it a dose of rust kill on the inside.
All D40 Navaras and R51 Pathfinders suffer from stretched timing chains.. you need to do a Billcar lower duplex upgrade. Not hard just time consuming. Did it on our Pathfinder and its been bullet proof since.
Nice, I just wish we got the turbo diesel in the US, I have a 2018 king cab SV long bed 5 speed manual with a.... 2.5L N/A gas motor 🤦🏻♂️ reliable but rly lacks any kind of power
You should be washing them in the laundry tub. Unhygenic !. And a cheap wet and dry vacuum cleaner would make carpet and upholstery cleaning much quicker and cheaper than expensive sprayon cleaners..
been searching for this summers project car online and at auctions and so on. but with people intending on paying retail prices for used vehicles at auction its kinda bad for guys like us just looking for a vehicle to work on cause we enjoy doing it
probably when people found it hard to live without power windows, seats, steering, brakes, air conditioning, climate controls, door locks and computer navigation, backup radar, forward radar, side radar, backup cameras, forward cameras, blind spot cameras, rear-view cameras, air bags, side-air bags, 300-400 horsepower diesels and gasoline powered engines, back seats, four doors, leather interiors, 19" chrome wheels, custom paint jobs... etc... etc... i could go on... BTW, the base price (roll-up windows/short bed, etc) on a 2020 f150 is less than $29,000. nissan, chevrolet, and dodge are a few grand more... still not good. in 2001 i bought my new base dodge ram 1500 (v-8 318 c.i. engine, no carpet, standard transmission and one bench seat) for about $18,000.
For the chassis, take a look at Mustie1 on youtube, he lives in a rustbelt area of usa and runs VW campers, his fix is to clean the chassis and coat them in oil to stop them from rotting out.
It looks like a great buy as long as you don't mind fair bit of cleaning. But if you can built the Ratarossa this is nothing. It will be a fun series of video to see how to fix up this truck.
There is a Conection under drivers side of the wiring harness that let's on water, Stupid design but this caused my navara to go into limp mode when full of water, turns out you can't drive them through puddles 😂
Search facebook for a guy called paul gate at hcr auto, hes the go too guy in the uk for problems with these trucks. Very respected on the navara pages.
Watch Autoshine Cars's channel; remove the front seats (4 bolts) and pressure wash the minging sides and rails. Very good find and I'm sure you'll have it 100% in no time. Greets from cov-lockdowned Athens!
A Nissan Frontier (Navara) is a reliable truck, but the gas mileage is awful and the ride is harsh and the handling ponderous, and the interior noise is deafening, just not a pleasant truck - a 10 year older Toyota Tundra (2002) is actually much nicer to drive than this heap - the only thing really good about these is that they have been reliable, unlike the Nissan full size trucks and most other Nissan vehicles. Now if this example has been in a flood or something, then even reliability would be out the window.
You forget to mentioned it has a major design flaw on the frame just behind the cabin they are well known for rusting straight off so the car is actually dangerous. That way you get them for pennies .
Does this year and version have the DPF system? If it does, the loss of power will be because the system is blocked. I'd also strip out the interior and give it a thorough clean and then put a large Ioniser in the car for a few hours to kill of all the spores etc. It also kills all odours, which I imagine this has.
🤢 all that mould!!! Who owned it?? Absolute ferals!!! Did it come with biohazard ☣️ tape? I actually owned a 2013 ST. Great car. Get a catch can and ditch the muffler and she’ll be sweet.
Great little project this. Must admit I have a soft spot for these pickups. I have thought of getting one myself. There such a great tool. Looking forward to the next instalment , and seeing what you find . This could end up be a great buyers guide... make sure you check the injectors they are a massive problem for these engines causing turbo faliure and massive engine failure dumping fuel into the oil.. check out west Yorkshire engines on UA-cam specialist in these trucks.
Just watched this! Great video! But what was the reason for looking for a 2011 or newer? You said you'd explain later, but never did. I NEED TO KNOW! 😂 (something to do with nissan recall maybe?)
Seems like that Navara has some water damage inside. Could be a flood car? You should change the oils from the engine, gearbox, transfer box, and rear axle differential. Change the timing chain, and paint the chassi with a antigravel coat of paint. Enjoy it.
I heard that the corona virus originated from this car. 😋
I was thinking the same thing. Nothing worse than a car filled with mold you really need to strip and steam clean the interior to make them safe...
As a yank I'm so jealous of the diesel nissan pickups
My inner OCD loves the interior detail you did.

i'm really enjoying the truck, its a lot of fun and easy to work on ......having just as much fun on this as the Ferrari's
Your disgust was palpable and actually had me laughing so hard, I’ve been there! Some people just don’t care about their things.
Definitely looks as though it had been in deep water.. Don't know how how much it costs, but the spray on bed liner that's popular in the States might help tidy it up. Great find though, and thanks for the upload.

How could the seller not have been embarrassed by the state of that
Always enjoy your Bargain fixes, which you were here on the east coast of the states.
Absolute bargain that Scott 👌👍
You should have taken the front seats out, so you could clean this area better :-)
I can't believe the old owner actually drove around in that garbage tip
I've missed your content. This was not what I was expecting,....but it is a fun to see the transformation. Thanks.

check the egr valve stuck open is common cause of trouble on those diesels trucks
will do

Try using a ozone generator 1-2 times to kill all the nasty stuff from the inside
It's a Rattavara! Brilliant!

I have a suspicion it's been flooded perhaps
yes big possibility
@@Ratarossa you should change all the oils.
Agreed, it will be condemned at the next MOT as they do that for flood damaged cars due to raw sewage exposure.

ya bro here in Canada it's called the Frontier and in Europe and other Parts of the world it's definitely called the Navara
Even I didn't let my car get that bad.
I would def have used a steam cleaner on the inside.. That’s one filthy car! But I reckon a good buy!
I would be keen to know what's under the carpet.
You can't go wrong with this model.
What a nice change, it was good to see you looking for a little truck, and watching what you are doing with it, love the Ferrari stuff but I'm just dreaming! Look forward to the next one on the Nissan. 👍
Nice, it's a manual shift. Those things can all be addressed in time. Congrats on your choice.
Great job on that interior. Always satisfying doing that.
Think you should call it Mermaid as it's spent all it's time under water!!!
these are very popular and very modified in australia. i have a 2013 model and love it
I personally have the V6 diesel and its a monster almost done 320k km and no issues at all!
Just doubled its value!
That’s exactly what I need too - something to haul my daughters when not in the F430 ;)
Nice one. Looking forward to the next one. Keeping it real. Thanks

Is that telephone box made in the lion foundry Kirkintilloch? If so that’s my home town , we are very proud of the history of them
Hard to imagine anyone could treat something so badly it was disgusting.. maybe its been flooded at some stage..but looks so better now.....

Unbelievable the condition of the interior?! Fantastic clean up!
I'd replace the seats looks like it was in a flood check the door speakers I'd bet there's rust and signs of water great video
Raptor line the truck bed! That will make it lovely. I have it on my F-150 :)
Really enjoyable what a fab transformation will be watching next episode we’ll done that game looks fantastic quality.
Be carefull buying one of these... the chassis' snap in the area where the rear leaf springs attach.. best to check the chassis before you buy one!
Get a decent wash cleaner for your carpets, you wont regret buying it!!! I wont miss mine anymore for my 3 cars.
You should bought a Navara before 2002. They got some issues with the timing chain on some early D40 models.

Wow 132K for Ford F150 ?? 😳 4 seats pickup is very practical. I love my truck. Your Nissan truck needs to be quarantined 😂
