Indeed, indeed and the late Maurice was so much underrated. He was part of the sound or even kind of the mastermind of the Bee Gees sound, not standing in the spotlight, technically.
I see you love Maurice's bass lines. Would love to see you play I've Gotta Get A Message To You, Fanny Be Tender, Love You Inside Out and I Started A Joke. I'm sure you'll love Maurice's pre-disco bass line!
Julia, you are responsible for me switching from guitar to bass. I had the fantasy of trying it, but a phrase you said when you were telling how you chose the bass gave me a lot to think about and it was that "you wanted a fun instrument that you could dance to" and I, who don't have that talent, have been able to verify it. Bass opened the doors to so much music that I loved but couldn't enjoy playing. Like the Bee Gees. Thank you for what you do for music!!!
You mentioned he could have played a lot more but kept it simpler, which is a good thing. It would have been interesting to hear an example of what he might have done that would be too much. Love these videos from Julia.
I'm a drummer who really wants to take up the bass. This channel and your amazing playing are making me actually want to do it officially! PS our band desperately needs a bassist as we speak! Come to Canada and play the wedding circuit with us!! ;) I kid. Great channel!
These kinds of bass lines are such a great example of how the bass sits as both a melodic component AND a rhythmic component (essentially bridging the gap between percussion and guitars/keyboards/vocals/etc). I love this instrument.
I love the mix of bass lines and the disco/funk style of guitars. I picked up bass a little bit to play with a band and it’s really opened my ears up to listening to bass even in songs I’ve heard dozens of times before. Thanks for posting 😎
Very cool Julia You inspired me to watch Saturday night fever the other night I hadn’t seen it I believe I was in primary school when it came out It was kind of neat, you know
Love that groove and dance music too. I’m new to bass and don’t know how to read music yet. I used to play the drums and knew how to read that, but of course there are no notes in drums.
I really hope Julia will cover LOTS of Disco-Funk artists like Cerrone Change Bbqband Bionic Boogie Hi fashion Peter Jaques Band Macho Firefly France Joli Stacy Lattisaw and MANY MANY others 😊
Great suggestion for this 2 year bass learner here , keeping the groove on. Will try is slower at first. Motown sounds are a challgenge as they are huge groovy lines.
Please post als Videos in future with notes/tabulator !! That´s great ! / Bitte in Zukunft die Videos immer mit Noten/Tabulator posten, das ist super zum Lernen ! Vielen Dank !
Hi Julia, I love your song selections! Would you consider covering " Your smiling face", a James taylor song that Lee Sklar put the bass to? ... love that song and bass part!
Hola Julia: Sigo tus videos desde hace ya mucho tiempo, casi desde los primeros y siempre son muy buenos. En este video lo que me gusta mucho es el sonido tan bonito que tiene tu bajo. ¿Como lo consigues? Gracias
BEE GEES! They were the masters of harmony and melody. No band compares. Great video.
It is always great to see Julia playing. Always sounds good.
Music sounds better with Her :)
Your addition of ghost notes really adds to the groove. I'm an old guy that still loves those old disco beats, especially after learning to play bass.
Most people don't realize that, but is the bass that do most of the stuff in music.
Thanks, Julia!
Indeed, indeed and the late Maurice was so much underrated. He was part of the sound or even kind of the mastermind of the Bee Gees sound, not standing in the spotlight, technically.
Not really. It's important but not the most important.
I remember when this song came out! Such a cool band and super influential...I didn't realize back then....the music is timeless.....just fantastic.
I see you love Maurice's bass lines. Would love to see you play I've Gotta Get A Message To You, Fanny Be Tender, Love You Inside Out and I Started A Joke. I'm sure you'll love Maurice's pre-disco bass line!
the bass line is far more complicated than expected 🤯🔥
They were all such skilled musicians in their own way. Can't imagine how it must be for barry to not be able to sing with is brothers anymore.
I thought it was much easier, interesting how we see things!
Love the way Julia gets right into the disco groove!
...she is born, to play and perform music!!

Thank you so much! // Cheers, Julia
Great that there’s now accompanying musical notation. 😊
i love how you play , but above all i love how you love the Bee Gees and specially Maurice. Thank you
Love this, Julia! Have a great weekend. 🥰
Ich dachte erst jeder muss mal Urlaub machen.Danke das du zurück bis und dann gleich mit so einem Song.Lg Andreas
I grew up at the prime of the Bee Gees era & developed my music skills from that album. Cool sis❤
Thanks for this! We used to play this one back in the 90s when disco was coming back. Now I see some mistakes I made! :)
Schön dich noch mal sehen Julia!!! Grüß aus Brasilien.
What a nice bass line...great Maurizio Gibb...and great you also!
relatively simple bass line but played with an incredible feeling!
oh those crazy times in Studio 54.... 🕺🕺🕺
The BeeGee's cried all the way to the bank.
Wow, da hast du einen echten Klassiker ausgepackt und perfekt seziert. Vielen Dank und ein schönes Wochenende!
Its impossible to hear that song and not get happy. Great tone Julia
Maurice would have loved this tribute to his bass playing
Maurice was so much underrated !!!!
Much more complex than I remembered. Thanks for breathing life into an old favorite!
Great song! Good to see Julia again. I want to thank you for the TABs too. Now we can play along with Julia.

Thanks Julia, always good to see you grooving it here !
Awesome.
You are wonderfullllll! When I see you play, I need to play my bass too!
Surely Mo was a beautiful tasted and very underated bass player !!!! And those Rickenbackers he played in the early times did tons of Magic !!
Thank you Julia for this very nice cover. ;-)
So goood, you broken them down for us!!! Those hidden subtle things
Even from the first bar it's perfect. I love the space. Thanks, Julia!
soy gran fan de tu trabajo, saludos desde Ciudad de México!
very nice... never really focused on the bass line in that song before but its quite tasty
Nice work, Julia🙌🏽😎 As you stated , perfect groove for this tune.
I'd love to see and hear you do Blondie's 'Atomic'. That is such an awesome tune and bass line! Thanks for sharing this one from the Bee Gee's :)
You mentioned he could have played a lot more but kept it simpler, which is a good thing. It would have been interesting to hear an example of what he might have done that would be too much. Love these videos from Julia.
love it my heart is dancing
Perfect for dance warm up!!!! Not too fast, very precise and lovely sounding
So cool! Greetings from CA!
I love watching you use the pick. Your technique is flawless
The Bee Gees were the coolest thing about Disco, in fact Saturday Night Fever is the only Disco CD I own, Hahaha.
Love from India.. like your vibe and ofc your playing
Such a cool and groovy bassline, irresistable! Great to see you play again.💯
I'm a drummer who really wants to take up the bass.
This channel and your amazing playing are making me actually want to do it officially!

Great channel!

Mo would have to be one of the most underrated bass players of all time!!
That was great!
The bass sounds delicious. Classic sound from the seventies.
Love it! Thank you, Julia.
Thanks!
so bloody great
A good tune well-written and well-played
We would really love to see Julia play Pink Ladies' Kiss in the dark bass partitions. I'm sure she will love to play that song ;)
Maurice was the one , my wife's favorite , playing not over playing bass is a complete talent in itself, respect x
An excellent performance and presentation!
I never had been much into Disco but you made it interesting ❤
Disco is the best style ever...REAL Music played by REAL Musicians with REAL instruments
Night Fever was one of the first bass lines I learned. 😀 Love the Bee Gees.
Thanks for showing this classic!
Reminds me of the old Saturday Night Live "why you singing so high?" Randy Newman? Im pretty sure
I love the mix of bass lines and the disco/funk style of guitars. I picked up bass a little bit to play with a band and it’s really opened my ears up to listening to bass even in songs I’ve heard dozens of times before. Thanks for posting 😎
Well Done!

Great!!!
DISCO RULES!!!!!!
Wow! Awesome, Bro!
Why do I always remember bass lines as being more complex than they really are? Am I the only one?
Julia du bis wieder da was für eine Freude und dann gleich mi diesem Song Bravo danke dir.Lg Andreas🍍🍍🍍
I feel your pain! 🤦🏻♂️
I remember basslines exactly like that.
Minimalistic and groovy.
Same
I have always done that ! My brain makes assumptions about the notes.
Very good!
Great suggestion for this 2 year bass learner here , keeping the groove on. Will try is slower at first. Motown sounds are a challgenge as they are huge groovy lines.
Dang that’s Good!
You are such a wonderful bassist!
