I just got to done removing the nuts off the lower intake manifold and removed the alternator. I saw the problem and I didn't have a torx socket set on hand so I filed the point on a 6 point 5mm socket and it grips tight on the studs. I was thinking at least removing the back 3 studs and seeing if it comes free but if not all the studs will come out. It has been a pain in the ass but I am about to get it off. Thanks for the video. Should have came across it before I got this far so I could've removed studs right after the nuts.
I am to the point of about to undo the nuts but trying to figure out how to remove the EGR pipe on the bottom if the lower intake. Any suggestions? Also what did you do to get the lower intake out? I was wondering about the exact problem you talked about in your video. Thanks for posting!
I don’t think you need to remove the EGR pipe off the manifold. It’s intergrated as part the lower intake. Remove fuel line all the upper assembly of the intake and it should slide off. It’s not easy, it takes some patience.
I used I think a 23mm wrench or a decent sized adjustable crescent wrench to break the EGR pipe free from the LIM. I figured 226,000 miles on the motor the tube must be pretty nasty. I took it free from the other side and pulled the pipe out and used a wire coat hanger and ran it through the pipe vigorously. Then I applied copious amounts of carb and brake cleaner through it until the cleaner came out clear. It was really bad built up with crud. Fuel line on the back side I popped the retaining clip off towards driver side after removing the torx screw.
You have to remove the screws itself the top ones that's

Tk I got one of those. Now I know
Which way does that little metal tube thats sits inside the upper intake manifold plenum face?
It can face in any direction
Hey I was missing a few bolts on the intake manifold on my 2000 2.2 l S10. I found two of the studded are the bottom smaller.
