The Nokia Arena on Tampere is the best hockey stadium right now in Finland. It's actually ridiculous we haven't forcefully just sanctioned Hartwall Areena back to the state. Plenty of other countries forced sanctions on Russian businessmen, biggest of which was the sale of Chelsea football club which was worth billions.

Jokerit was in Finnish top league for decades and played in Hartwall Arena (it’s about 2km north from Helsinki ice hall and it has 13500 seats IIRC). Hartwall Arena is more like NHL style arena and it had amazing atmosphere especially in playoffs and derby games. In 2013 the owner Harry Harkimo sold the team and the arena to russian oligacrs and Jokerit moved to KHL. This move took many fans away from the team and the atmosphere in KHL games weren’t so good. When Russia attacked Ukraine in 2022 Jokerit left the KHL in middle of the playoffs as they had since got a finnish ownership because of the sanctions for the former owners. Jokerit didn’t get a licence to play in any finnish leagues in 2022-2023 season so they built a team with new owners for a year. One of the owners are Dallas Stars Esa Lindell and former NHL player Ossi Väänänen. Jokerit got a licence to play in second division (Mestis) in spring 2023 at the start of 23-24 season. So this is their first season in finnish league since 2013. The Hartwall Arena is still in russian ownership and its under sanctions so nobody is using it. Helsinki city and finnish parlament has been trying to solve how to get it back to finnish ownership but it’s a long process with lots of byrocracy. Jokerit and HIFK are the biggest rivals in finnish hockey, or at least was when Jokerit played in top league. For now its probably Tappara and Ilves in Tampere.
HIFK of course :D But some info; HIFK and Jokerit have had a fierce rivalry for decades. The regular season wins are 106-105 for HIFK. In 2014 Jokerit left the Finnish League to play in KHL (Russian league). In 2022 when the war started, Jokerit cut all the ties to KHL and Russia and started a new journey in the second highest level (Mestis).
I never knew that Kurri played in team Jokerit. I just remembered the name (and him being a good player) because of my brother mispronouncing his name when he was a little and couldn't pronounce the "r" (the adults at the time found it very funny and now we do too).
The anticipation for friday’s game is great. Those two teams got some sort of rivalry. All the games at the regular season between those two teams (atleast ones that were played on Friday or Saturday) were sold out. So now when they’re facing eachother in playoffs, it brings some extra spice. Also fun fact: The league’s record of most penalty minutes given on a single game was actually between IFK and Pelicans on November 26th 2011. Most memorable moment from that game was the time, when to all the players currently on ice started to fight eachother right after face off (I think the clip is still on UA-cam). They gave total of 465 penalty minutes and 14 players plus both head coaches got game misconduct.
If you go to Tampere, there are two teams in Tampere and you might want to watch Ilves. Ilves hasn’t won the championship since 1985 and this year they have a really good chance of winning. So, their fans are super excited. The other team in Tampere (Tappara) has won the championship several times in a row so their fans won’t be that excited until the finals. It is also likely that the two rivals will face each other in the finals (as they placed 1st and 2nd in the regular season). That game will be sick. Tampere is a traditional hockey town and a final between the rivals will be something you will never forget.

You should take a look from youtube what kind of playoffs we had in Helsinki seasons 2010-2011 & 2011-2012 when Jokerit and HIFK played against in the first round (2 times in a row).😊
Great video! You need to go to tampereen ilves playoff game. Right now ilves has the best ultras and atmosphere in Finland. Their atmosphere is great in regular season as well so in playoffs it will definitely be amazing experience and would love a vlog from there.
I tried to comment on another of your videos, but it seems like my comment was removed or something. Anyways, I just wanted to say, taht you can actually play at the Helsinki Ice Hall. Especially for a goalie, it's quite easy to get a spot in one of the local beer league or company ice times. There's usually one player who's job it is to go in net if they can't get a proper goalie, who'll me more than happy to let you play and use his equipment.
Hey man, you should visit Tampere and keep up with these ice hockey vlogs! You certainly wouldn't regret it. And if I see you there, I'll promise to buy you a beer and invite you to the crowd chant for a round.
I've rooted Jokerit since I was 5. Never left them no matter where I live. Right now I live far from Jokerit and home games. But I hope they get back to top league and comes to my home city to play.
Give your suport to the greatest comeback of European hockey: Jokerit! Just a year ago there was nothing but U20 team and the rest of youngster teams. Now we are building a new story. You have a change to be part of it!
I agree. Nokia areena is very modern and has a larger capacity which guarantees more noise, at least during playoffs. If you choose to go, I have to ask you to go to a Tappara game. They have won the last 2 Liiga championships and their goalie, Christian Heljanko, who is not on the taller side is their definitive star player. He has won two "best goalie in the league" trophy's back to back and is even a bigger star this year. This game was entertaining goaliewise too but he is something else. It's nice to see you react to the hockey we are more used too. But the Liiga plof games do get more physical, atleast in Tampere. The Hockey capital of Finland
You should buy the jersey of Ilves since they’re like maple leafs. A heritage club with a lot of fans who haven’t won anything in ages. Should make you feel like home 😂
Nice video and seemed fun! Yeah Tampere has the biggest arena and there's actually two teams in the top league, maybe you should check that out! Jokerit also used to play in a bigger arena but not anymore.
If you want to attend a football/soccer match, the Finnish national team is playing on Tuesday 26th at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki. First they are playing an away game against Wales on Thursday 21st and then the home game will be against Poland or Estonia.
The nokia arena is must to see and Ilves hockey games have best atmosphere. Ilves have the biggest and the best ultra group at the moment. Helsinki might be the capital of Finland but the Tampere is capital of hockey in Finland. It only takes from Helsinki to Tampere 2 hours by train.
Jokerit! ❤💛💪🏻 Ps. Jokerit are red and yellow + usually blue nowadays. Those are retro jerseys from the 90s era, when Jokerit got a few titles and the ones famous Teemu Selänne played in.
Go see the best ultras and, the biggest attendance and the most entertaining hockey team "Tampereen Ilves"! They have playoff opening on thursday and Tampere is overall a nice city, only a few hour train away from Helsinki!💚💛
Oh yeah, the IFK game is gonna be good. They play against the Pelicans and they have a bit on an rivalry going on. Both teams have very physical players and its expected to be the most physical/best matchup in the quarterfinals. There also will be like 4 busses of away fans so great atmosphere.
Oh yes, even as a Jokerit fan, hoping for a good game next Friday. And it should be, the last regular season game was obviously an aberration. That being said, it's game 1, so it might be a close, stalking kind of game with little offense and playing safe to avoid mistakes. But more noise expected for sure.
Jokerit played half of their regular season games in Kerava ice hall (capacity about 1250) and the other half here in Helsinki ice hall. Games in Kerava were played in blue jerseys (real home jerseys) and games in Helsinki were played with those green/purple jerseys. That green/purple jersey is a updated version of a jersey Jokerit played in the 90s, while still playing in Helsinki Ice hall before moving to Hartwall Arena (Helsinki halli nowadays). You should definetly buy the green-purple Jokerit jersey. Not only made to resemble the return to the Helsinki ice hall after 26 years, but it will also be a part of Jokerit history from the first season back in Finnish leagues after almost a decade. We have a long way ahead, but i believe that in 2 to 3 years we will have rivalries between Jokerit and HIFK once again, and you should definetly come back to experience one. A decade ago those were some insane games. And what could be a better jersey to wear that day than a part of Jokerit history ;)
Ah-ha! I just realised we don't do statistics on Jumbotrons (nor do we do secondary screens or boards of kinda any kind 😄 )! That could actually be a nice little touch to add to the events. They do announce shots and saves of previous period on the first minutes of the next period, but sometimes it would be really cool to be able to keep track more in real time!

Thanks for the video, it was fun to watch. You should definitely get a Jokerit jersey. The logo has been voted as the best hockey logo (outside NHL) and it is the most beautiful one for sure. Overall Jokerit is the biggest sports brand in Finland. The only reason they are playing in Mestis is that they just got back to the Finnish league after their sorrowful decade long journey to KHL. Jokerit has a great story behind the club. In the late 80's they dropped from the main league to the second highest level for but managed to scramble back after two seasons. During the 90's Jokerit was almost unstoppable and during the decade they won four championships with players like Teemu Selänne. The only real rival was TPS Turku with players like Saku Koivu and Jere Lehtinen. The jerseys and silver helmet (or kettles as we call them) that you saw Jokerit play in are retro from that era. In the 2000's there wasn't that many championships but a super bitter rivalry with HIFK. Then the owner wanted to get rid of Hartwall Arena (Helsinki Arena nowadays) and sold both the ice hall to russians, which broke our hearts and was the dark time in Jokerit history. It also divided the fan base and naturally since this is the first season back in Finnish league we're just getting started. There's a saying in Finland that you either love or hate Jokerit, there's no in between. Everybody knows them and has an opinion (although some try to convince you they're not interested, but they are). Jokerit is Hollywood movie hero where former superstar makes a huge mistake, starts drinking and has his dark times, but in the end comes back to save the day (and Finnish hockey overall). That's Jokerit. And now we're back. Minä, Me, Jokerit!
Hifk vs Pelicans is the best and hottest thing you can see live in Finland ❤ 💙 2011 they all fought. 465 minutes of penalties. It's a record of Liiga history and Justin Hodgman started it 😅 Always happens when these teams plays 😅
As an HIFK fan myself, as much as I want you to buy HIFK merch, I can't help but admit that Jokerit is the more appealing looking team. Especially the crowd with all of the towels and everything. The crowd in HIFK games is honestly really boring, and it really makes me ashamed being an HIFK fan because of it. It's really only that one corner of the arena (B5-C1) that actually shows any emotion during games. Every HIFK game that I go to, I always want to be as close as possible to that B5-C1 corner of the arena, because I'm scared of making myself look like a jackass when I'm the only fan in a random part of the arena that shows just as much emotion as that B5-C1 corner.
Get the Jokerit retro jersey they played in! Its going to be a treasure for ages to come!
Buy Kärpät or Tappara Jersey instead! 😂😂
Neither of them have a chance to compete with the Jokerit retro jersey in terms of looks.

I've been once to that hockey stadium at 2008. I was there for Cannibal Corpse, Diablo and Children of Bodom concert.
If you want to attend a football/soccer match, the Finnish national team is playing on Tuesday 26th at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki.
First they are playing an away game against Wales on Thursday 21st and then the home game will be against Poland or Estonia.
maaan you were vlogging right in front of us and had no idea haha game was fire on sunday! hope we have the chance to support jokerit on monday too
Jokerit ❤️💛 The right choice 💪
Jokerit jersey of course 💪
You should definitely go watch Ilves vs Kalpa in Tampere
The nokia arena is must to see and Ilves hockey games have best atmosphere. Ilves have the biggest and the best ultra group at the moment. Helsinki might be the capital of Finland but the Tampere is capital of hockey in Finland. It only takes from Helsinki to Tampere 2 hours by train.
Go to Ilves game in Tampere. Best athmosphere in Finland!
There was a goalie fight a couple games ago Jokerit vs JoKP
Jokerit! ❤💛💪🏻
Ps.
@@roulernbleu4532 its game 2 tho, they play the first one in Lahti
Get a jokerit jersey! Also there is definitly no rule that states you can't give your stick to the goalie, idk why they didn't give him one there😅
Jokerit❤️💛
MESTIS is way more enternaining that the 1st division (Liiga)
No question that you should go check out the Tampere playoff hockey experience.
to be honest the first round in Tampere ain't gonna be good since it's gonna be a landslide win for both of the tampere sides (hopefully I'm wrong)
You should 100% get the Jokerit jersey
Vote for Jokerit from here as well! Iconic hockey team with a very cool logo.
Jokerit. Way cooler 8)
I'm pretty sure that the HIFK vs Pelicans Playoff match will be the best game you'll see in Finland so far
Jokerit of course!!!!❤
Ah-ha! I just realised we don't do statistics on Jumbotrons (nor do we do secondary screens or boards of kinda any kind 😄 )! That could actually be a nice little touch to add to the events. They do announce shots and saves of previous period on the first minutes of the next period, but sometimes it would be really cool to be able to keep track more in real time!
u should visit Tampere (Nokia Arena)
Jokerit♥💛
Jokerit and Düsseldorfer EG ❤💛 greetings from Germany.
Kiekko-Espoo is the third team from the Metropolitan area. They are playing on the second highest level, but will rise next year to the Liiga.
Jokerit is the most iconic/popular team in Finland (regardless of sport). Can't go wrong with their merch!
Vai että ikonisin
Nahh
Minä, Me, Jokerit!
the Jokerit jersey 100%
The *TRUE* team of Helsinki.
The mascot's name is Otto and i was on The same game, and i saw you there
Hifk vs Pelicans is the best and hottest thing you can see live in Finland ❤ 💙 2011 they all fought. 465 minutes of penalties. It's a record of Liiga history and Justin Hodgman started it 😅 Always happens when these teams plays 😅
Jokerit jersey ofc!
Jokerit ofc!
Of course you will get Jokerit merchandise. After all, Teemu Selänne was their man and owns the unbreakable rookie record with 76 goals in NHL.
You should definitely get a Jokerit jersey! The greatest hockey team in the world.
You are not the first foreigner to admire the Jokerit jersey. So go with your heart and make the right choice which is red and yellow! :)
Oh. Jokerit were on same league with HIFK before, Jokerit decided to play in KHL. The games between HIFK and Jokerit was ALWAYS high energy games.
Jokerit.😊
16:35 When you say "Oh yeah" it sounds like Ted from the movie Ted. 😅
Jokerit goalie (Henri Risikko) is kind of copy from Juuse Saros. Real hidden talent I would say!
Jokerit ❤️💛 💚💜
Jokerit jersey! Because the logo is ranked world's best by Hockey news 1997.
Plus, they lost the game he went to in a shutout.
Jokerit.
I think they have ultras in NHL too, but at least in Maple Leafs games the whole home game audience is ultras haha!
I love these videos!
