If we consider Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, it is obvious because they live and breathe cinema. Not just Telugu, any language movie with good content is always supported. If you see Telugu will mostly be the 2nd highest market for any Pan Indian movie. Also Avatar 2 collected 100cr+ in these 2 states. Now if you consider Telugu stars, you can imagine the euphoria around it. You can feel the movie discussions in the atmosphere. Everyone's gonna watch it the First weekend. Big star films easily to to 50-100cr opening nowadays depending on contrnt. So obvious drop after the weekend. Also if movie is not good, mediocrity isn't entertained and people reject films too. RRR did 100+ on day 1 and in long run around 410cr total gross in just TWO STATES. This stat always amazes me That shows it and the pure cinema lovers.

Bro, major reason is no.of shows per screen gets almost doubled on opening day in South Indian states. Early morning shows and late night shows.
the thing is, in south watching a movie on first day is a huge thing, if its a star movie then watching it on 1st day is compulsary because of the hype. desite the talk, the film will run steadily till the weekend, maximum or a week.
but in bollywood, even if the hype is there, even if its a star movie, people will wait to watch it in the weekend or holidays.
in simple words, south releases all the dam gates at a time, north opens the one by one

Very nice video but you missed a key point. In south most of the singles screens purchase the movie on a lump sump basis and that lump sump single payment amount is added in the 1st day collection of the movie. But then the producers won't get anything from the collections from the single screen. Hence the 1st day collection is so huge.

You have missed a very important factor... In AP most of the single screen theaters are very well maintained and ticket price at max 200 rs per ticket... Popcorn 40-50rs mein mil ja tha hain coldrink bhi 40-50rs mein mil jatha hai... So as a family of 4 you will mostly watch a movie at less than 1000rs... But north mein single screens uthne khas nahin hai and Multiplex mein as everyone knows loot le the hain... Family of 4 ka if popcorn and coldrink included aaram se 2500+ jayega budget... That's why the box office collections in AP are more than even TN and Karnataka...

You missed the concept of Hires. In south circuits movie distrubuters sells movies to single screen cinemas in advance like they will charge a fix fee for first weekend then movie distrubuter will not have any more monetary interest from that theatre. The collection of the movie from that theatre is the revenue and earning of onwer only. And South Movies do this with all single screen theatred and show that one time fee or charges in 1st day collection this concept is known as HIRES there.
