Had a lot of impact and trauma in my 20s. I have seriously considered TRT but your comment is exactly why I haven’t pulled the trigger. I’ll probably do it when I’m about 50-55
@joshuagibson2520 The consequences would literally be the same low testosterone you were dealing with before starting trt. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Sad part was I first started testing with low levels at 23 and have been going to a Dr. for in sense 2019 and finally just got started in 2024. Really sucks being 25 coming home from work and falling asleep sitting in a chair every night. Thanks for the video
@@Jack-M1113 Funny part is like 5 years ago I moved from country well water to ""treated" water and I've been used to drinking two of my 1/2 gal water bottles a day. I finally switched to spring a few weeks ago. Prolly fix me right up

Yep. I’ve been on TRT for over a decade. I was formerly a bodybuilder that stopped after 30 due to some health issues. However, after coming off of everything, my T levels crashed. I didn’t have any libido or much vitality. TRT brought that back, and although it didn’t bring me to Olympia level, it did allow me to hold an impressive physique, while still squatting over 600 lbs while having abs. As some have mentioned, once you’re on it a while, your natural levels will never recover to what they would’ve been otherwise. In my case, I was at 140 ng/dl, so I really didn’t have anything to lose. I’m 48 5’8” 240 lbs at < 10% bf. I wish Eric the best on this journey, and it totally makes sense.
Thank you so much for touching on this topic. Ever since about 2 years after a tour in Iraq (2010) I felt off. Fast forward ten years and I was diagnosed with low T. 1 1/2 on T and the difference in the way I feel is nothing short of astonishing.
Started TRT in 2017. First thing I noticed was my cognitive clarity had improved in about 3 weeks. Then my libido increased which my wife did not like…lol
I started TRT a few weeks ago. I’m hoping for the best. I’m 40, a Nurse Practitioner and I comprehend the benefits vs the minimal risks. My test was sub 300 so it was time to do it.
Didn't have any issues with my doctor. They are required to give 2 blood tests to confirm, but once they were done, I got a prescription and have been monitoring levels regularly since then.
Three years now on TRT. I’m 57 today. Only regret regret is I wish I would’ve known about it 20 years ago. Literally changed my life for the better and saved my marriage.
Hell yeah you’ll be clapping cheeks 8-10 times a day and recovery time is 5 minutes in between , also every girl looks like a solid 9 even the 4-5 range girls it’s wild . I didn’t care for red head girls now they are my favorite changes your mind set a bit
Eric, I can relate 100%. I’m 38 and had all the same issues as you. Asked my doc for help and this is what happened… 5 months ago I completely quit alcohol & dropped 20 lbs without lifting a single weight, I got back to my “normal weight” of 175. 3 months ago I started TRT and started intense exercising again for the first time in 15 years. In just 3 months I already feel like I’m 20 again! even with my 2 little kids wearing me out on the daily. * I also highly recommend doing a 30 day caffeine fast. Brought major changes/benefits. * I’m willing to bet TRT is going to be a huge deal in the coming decades now that most boys & men are much more sedentary and have relatively poor mental health. Keep us posted on your progress!
@@Iraqveteran8888 I'm really glad it's helping you. By the way, I've enjoyed your channel for many many years (back to the days with Barry). Take care
I have to ask why everyone's testosterone levels keep dropping. There have to be reasons. Fixing those reasons (diet, sleep, exercise, pollutants, etc) seems preferable to a pharmaceutical approach. I'm still glad to hear that you are benefitting from it. 👍
I’ve been on trt for almost 3 years now. It is a total game changer. It’ll make you sharper mentally, physically, and in your personal life. You will perform at higher levels in everything you do from work to play to the bedroom.
Thank you for this video. I’ve been a state co for several years now and I’m on TRT for about 2 years as well. Started with the gel then the capsules and finally to the injection. I’ve been feeling my best with the injection as well. Just turned 45.
If your not in shape while turning 40, get on it, because it will be that much harder at 50. Get after it folks. Looking good eric, stay on the path as they say.
I went on TRT at 59 had my numbers checked and 249 and my insurance covered it, got shots for 4 years and numbers around 700-1000 then moved from big city in Arizona to a small city Nixa Missouri and have not found a TRT Clinic might have to get it online. Did Blood work every 10 weeks.
Great conversation and input from your first hand experience. At 41 now I’ve been longing for the energy I had 10 years ago. I got hurt in a bicycle accident about 5 years ago and quit all working out. Woke up at 41st bday scale said 275 what a shocker then quitting drinking, cleaning diet up, and walking 2-4 mi 3x a week I’m down to 240 energy is better but not peak. I’ll definitely look into trt.
I’m in my early 40s and am active duty. I have struggled w anxiety and sleep deprivation on and off since around the time I turned 41. I always fought getting on a sort f prescription meds but I am on 1 now. Since I started being back I the gym 4-5 days a week I feel so much better and wake up more often than not at full salute again lol where as I went the better part of a year without that happening.
Eric, 100 percent get it brother. I’m 45 been on TRT for 5 years still in the reserve and it’s been a great decision. I’m 6’4, 255 lbs (slimmed down now from my college football days at 325lbs. I was miserable before as my total test was less then 150. In much better health both mentally and physically now. Appreciate you taking the time to tackle this topic. It can be very complicated and a lot of people have misconceptions about it. It’s very common and very safe like any other medical treatment when done correctly.
I've did the pellets for 2 years and then I switched to the injection only because of cost. The injections are so much cheaper but the results are more or less the same. FYI many people think it is all about bedroom performance, it is much more than that. Low testosterone can cause problems with your thyroid, cause irregular heart beat, problems sleeping and so much more.
Personally I've had Low T cause of a repeated infections, I've been reluctant cause then when you start TRT you can't stop. As another user said " I don't wanna be a slave to medicine "
It’s a lifetime commitment but it’s better than feeling crappy. I’m 59 now and I’ve been on it for 9 yrs. It is what it is. My total number was 98 and should have been between 300-850. Good luck to you on which ever choice you make 👍
@jeffbrund I wanna clarify my statement : Due to repeated infections ( and I think can't recover ) I will probably need to start, but before anybody with like 300-400 start doing it, or let's say 240-250 , please consider changing lifestyle etc... My issue was absolutely the infection cause I was a bodybuilder, no Testosterone= no muscle. I started losing strenght and size super fast compared to normal. My message is to anybody young that thinks it's an " eldorado ". If someone as you said it's on the very low spectrum ( Yeah sub 100 is critical ) I understand and approve doing it. I had 140-150 ( multiple blood samples during 2 years ) and felt terrible. Still don't feel good, will be probably forced to start.
@ Yep big issue with young people thinking it’s their golden ticket. That sucks about the infections. Thanks for the clarification 👍. Hopefully you will get back on par.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of things outside of the narrow gun world. I would bet your core audience these days has aged along with you and many are going thru similar issues.
Well done! A needed conversation. Needed it at 65. Suspect my levels were low for quite some time, but I had no clue. Now I recommend to guys (especially over 40) to get the blood test. Just take enough to get back to what a normal level is for your age. Taking too much can have negative side effects.
I started taking T at 29 for bodybuilding, but once I realized how much better I felt in every aspect of life (even on trt doses) I made the decision to never come off. 31 now. Anyone who is on trt or is interested in it: Look into DHEA and Pregnenolone. Especially if you're stressing or suffering from ptsd (which I've been diagnosed with aswell). When you take test you downregulate your hpta (signal to the testes) this is well known, but you also downregulate the hpaa (hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis) which means you're lowering certain neurosteriods that are made in your adrenal glands. Look into how important these are for stress management/recovery, healthy aging and sleep etc. Do your research and goodluck!
46 here, been on TRT since I was 38. Best thing I’ve ever done. Thanks for sharing not enough people talk about it, but it also has a lot to do with the crappy food we eat lowering our testosterone.
I clicked because I was interested to check some key points but listened all the way through. This will help people. Good on you. I shared with some friends. Thank you
Hey take this how you will, im 24 and when i was 17 my father had a stroke and lost the ability to walk, talk and see from his left side or feel from his left side. -that being said we also found out he had secretly been getting TRT for 5 years with a "professional" He was 41 (a now ex firefighter) and it was two weeks after his latest injection while at the gym.
Thank you for sharing. I have been giving this some thought for a while now. My metabolism started slowing way down and my energy started dropping off in my forties. Now I’m in my mid-sixties, overweight, severely lacking energy and can’t put on an ounce of muscle. Tested my T-levels and they are extremely low as suspected. What you have stated gives me a lot of food for thought. Thanks again for sharing.
Thank you for being so open about your journey, I have been thinking about checking it out for a couple years now, but have not pushed the issue with my doctor.
Thanks for sharing Eric 👍🏻 I’m 48 with a 41 years old wife and a 6.5 year old son. I am feeling very tired and crappy. This video is exactly what I needed. Not only the blood work part but also the gym and weight lifting. Need to get my ass back to the gym - it’s been several years without frequent training. Thanks man! 🙂👍🏻
Started regularly in the gym 2013 after quitting dipping (19 years). Only ran on treadmill and light cable machine type stuff. Started powerlifting in 2017 but progress was slow because I started feeling “off”. No energy, no desire to do anything. Got T checked and was low. Started injections in 2018 and felt more like my old self. By 2021 I had worked my bench up to 475, squat to 625, and deadlift to 600 at age 46. Got COVID in late 2021 and have fallen off the wagon. I plan on getting back to work this January at 49 (50 in February). God willing I will get back in my groove and get healthy again. You’re an inspiration. Keep grinding bro.
Tanks for this info Eric! I have been thinking about getting my T checked as well! I’m 62, 5’9” and weigh 280. I have lost 30 pounds in the last six months walking on the treadmill and trying to eat more protein and less carbs. This all has helped me feel and function a lot better, but listening to Dr. Gabrielle Lyon and Dr. Tyna Moore on UA-cam I’ve come to understand I need to be lifting heavy weights to build and maintain healthy skeletal muscle, which is vital for the overall health of the body and brain. God Bless! Tanks for the info and encouragement! Numbers 6:24-26!
I'm an OG Gen X and will be hitting 60 in 2025 and have thought about TRT recently.. I've done weightlifting in some form since I was a tween when I would go to the local HS with my brother to workout with his HS football team in the summer. This would not be allowed these days! Problem was, I never really worked out with real trainers and developed some bad habits when lifting. In my late 40's my deadlift was similar to yours, but my backsquat was 100 lbs less from my deadlift. Unfortunately, my bad habits resulted in getting injured while warming up for a competition. I really need to start lifting again! This video helps give me inspiration to go forward again and start talking about TRT with my Dr.
Jacked and wearing a ring. Good on yuh IV8888! Im only 31 but the Army and plumbing has beaten my body up. Maybe in 9 years or so ill go down this journey. Thank you for this video.
Amateur bodybuilder here approaching 30. Been on blast and cruise for two years now. For anyone over 40 looking to maximize their life and longevity I recommend a trt dose of test (120-160mg) a week, and growth hormone (2-3iu’s) daily for 3-4 months out of the year. If you aromatize heavily from that a little primo on top should help with the estrogen control. For any younger dudes looking to mess around and blast, I recommend sticking to the tried and true compounds such as test, primo, masteron, Deca, and growth. Use tren, insulin and all orals at your own risk. Stay safe out there and get your bloodwork done.
I turned 66 almost exactly a month ago and this is something I've never even thought about! Just before my birthday I DID have a good going over by my Dr. Including bloodwork. The only thing that came back out of the ordinary was I apparently have an "under active" Thyroid. It's probably been that way all my life because even working on machinery and moving iron and steel parts around all day (before I retired) I've never weighed more than 125#! BTW I'm 5' 8" tall. I've always been active and just figured that was "normal" for me. I'll have to look at my test results online (I have access to everything they have on record for me, and I've been seeing this same Dr. for 35+ years). I don't have high blood pressure or cholesterol, everything I've seen so far is right in the middle of the "Green Zone". I was never in the military but my Pop WAS! WWII, Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, then captured by the Germans and spent 97 days in a German POW camp. He started going to the VA when he was in his early 70s and got 100% Disability (PTSD, and a few other "Service Related" things). He lived to be 93 and passed in August of 2015...
I’ll be 40 in February and definitely have noticed a change, I refuse to “I’m getting old” because I feel it re-wires your brain so I don’t say it, although I can feel it. I weighed 330lbs and got to 175lbs. I did a lot of triathlon and running a 10k 3 times a week was easy. I gained 100lbs and since lost a bunch. I am Currently 198 with a goal of 180lbs to further my EMS helicopter career. TRT definitely sounds like something I should consider, it looks like it helps a lot :)
Its odd to me to see so many Americans on TRT at such (what I feel is) an early age. I think its mostly a 'want' not a 'need' for most. Edit: low(er) testosterone isn't NO testosterone btw, and receptor density is unaccounted for by blood tests.
At 40, I had a similar experience. I started a regime to keep me move and run to a base level. The lowest army basic is something to scoff at, but I never max out but then again, I have always had a physically demanding profession.. The main lookout for me is to not overdo and work myself to the sickbed. Have done that before.
guess as a Recon Marine 57 just built differently, lifting , running, drinking, and still able to hit it 3 to 5 times a day. as harder for a little while after wife passed away, but still able to hook up with many ladies in there 30-40s. Oorah Thailand
TRT has been a game changer for me but it won’t do much if you drink, eat poorly and have poor sleep. I’m 60, 6’2”, 235 pounds sub 15% BF, extremely strong, high energy and libido…on low dose TRT since 57. One major downside was my libido was too high and I’m now divorced
Started TRT around 18 years ago. They tried topical first for about a year. When I moved to Georgia, my new Dr. who is much better, tried the implants. My numbers shot to over 2000, that was a very intense year. Now I'm on the injection, which I would recommend. Be sure your Dr. is monitoring your blood counts. After 10 years I started having high blood counts, which must be managed.
I think I started TRT a year before you. I'm 39 now. TRT is one of the best choices I've ever made. I would also recommend that all my dudes eventually get on a CPAP. Strength training, TRT, and a CPAP are the fountain of youth. TRT has been so good for me cognitively, emotionally, and physically. And sleeping is a super power. Best sleep of my life on a CPAP. Pre-TRT, my lifts were 295 lb squat, 210 lb bench, 405 lb deadlift, 135 lb press. Best lifts are now 350 lb squat, 260 lb bench, 475 lb deadlift, 160 lb press. I'm 6'1'' and 210 lbs. I'm on 140mg per week divided into two doses a week. What else is useful info? If you don't like looking at a long needle, draw with a big one, and then inject with like 1/2 inch 27g. Do it ventrogluteal, and you'll hardly feel it.
I’m not telling anyone what to do but if there’s one thing we all have learned about drugs: Never start taking drugs that you can’t quit without really bad consequences.
Im 48, had been thinking about TRT because Testicular cancer took righty coming up on 5 years now. I stay active but can't really workout, which they say to do to naturally raise your t levels, because i recently had an RPLND surgery to remove lymph nodes. Once I'm fully recovered i might reconsider TRT.
I’m 59 yrs old 6’3”at 250 pounds have been on TRT for 9 yrs. Retired firefighter. I was feeling crappy was in a fog. Had my numbers check and was at a total of 98. I’ve always done the gym and still do. Never let them put you on a two week schedule of TRT because you want consistency and not a crash. A week is about right. I’m currently on 90 mg a week. I was at 100 but TRT can elevate your red blood cell count which happened to me so my dose was lowered. Everyone is different so some need less and some need more. My doctor’s normal total testosterone numbers is between 300-890. I’m currently just over 400. Wish I could go higher but I can’t. Anyway the fog I had is now gone. Also don’t forget…..TRT is a lifetime commitment.
I am also a person over 40 years old. My idea is that at this age, I should not try to retain or regain the physical growth rate when I was young. In the present era, we should accept that we are about to get old.
Next you'll be riding adventure and dual sport motorcycles. I'm 40 and I bought my first motorcycle when I was 37. I wish I bought one when I was 20 21:1021:10
Thank you for your candor. From a scientific standpoint, I wish you had only taken the trt without any other changes in lifestyle. The massive amount of work you’ve done with the weights could be more than the trt has done. I’m super glad you feel good now, maybe I can one day too.
Thank you for posting this !!!!! I've been in a few motorcycle and climbing accidents.. felt like shit the last 3 years and just recently found out why
I've been on TRT for about 6 years and started when I was 52, it's not perfect but it's the fountain of youth. Injections the whole time. I found it hard to get a endocrinologist to prescribe it, I found a place online that was recommended when I was in government contracting . Once I was on the program my regular provider would continue the program, now it costs about $25 every 3 months plus labs. The labs cost about $500 if depending on where your deductibles are.
Glad you did the video, it's something that a lot of people don't know about or understand. Just to stress, you want a physician that understands the program, urologists or endocrinologists are typical and specialized in male hormone imbalances. It's not very common in general medical knowledge and it's kind of a new field. Many medical issues can be a chicken and egg cause or relation to this. If you are overweight and sedentary, you will get inflammation and in turn your hormones will be out of balance. You need to look at the whole picture, clean up your diet, get exercise, be sure you sleep ok (sleep study is another topic), and if you are still low, TRT can be a big improvement.
I’m 42 and a veteran and I have been wanting to get my T checked. I knew there was something different about you. I am going to make an appointment asap.
It's good to have a baseline when you're younger. Got my first overall blood test this year to create a baseline. And plan on it for my yearly checkups.
Before going on trt clean up your diet and lift relatively heavy. I’m 45 and my testosterone was 800 two months ago without trt and sleeping 4 to 5 hours a night due to military trauma.
I'm an Iraq vet, 35 years old. Got my blood work done and test levels are very low. I quit drinking and smoking and doing my best to eat clean and get back in the gym. I'm going to do my best to recover my test levels naturally and we'll see what happens, but TRT is there if it doesn't work out.
I'm doing daily ice baths/cold showers to try to improve testosterone naturally. Taking Brazil nuts for selenium and fish oil. Tim Ferris protocol. I'm interested to see if my numbers improve but I feel better and more energetic already.
I really want to try TRT, but I dont want to be forced to take medication for the rest of my life because my organs have shut down natural production of testosterone.

Your T levels crash if you do roids too long, you body stops producing it. You should never do them if you dont need them.
It’s actually easier for an 8 year old girl that thinks she a boy get on Test vs a grown man with low-T.
Didn't have any issues with my doctor. They are required to give 2 blood tests to confirm, but once they were done, I got a prescription and have been monitoring levels regularly since then.
😁 It be true 🌈
True..very much.

Eric, I can relate 100%. I’m 38 and had all the same issues as you. Asked my doc for help and this is what happened…
5 months ago I completely quit alcohol & dropped 20 lbs without lifting a single weight, I got back to my “normal weight” of 175.
I’m willing to bet TRT is going to be a huge deal in the coming decades now that most boys & men are much more sedentary and have relatively poor mental health.

Sometimes, stopping all the chemicals and exercising is enough. My opinion, try abstinence and exercise alone before TRT.

Deciding to get sober and getting on TRT changed my life at 43 years old. I’m 2 years in and in the best shape of my life.
EAT GOOD FOOD, DONT STRESS OVER LITTLE THINGS, GET GOOD SLEEP AND EXERCISE REGULARLY. TRT AT 40 IS CRAZY TO ME BUT TO EACH THEY OWN. GREAT VIDEO 👍🏼
Being on TRT for half your life seems wild to me. But for some people, that's the best option.
Agreed. I’m 40, would I love to feel 25? Absolutely, but I’ll wait as long as I can before I start exogenous hormones. It’s a big decision

Trt at 40 means you have a messed up body
I’m in my early 40s and am active duty. I have struggled w anxiety and sleep deprivation on and off since around the time I turned 41. I always fought getting on a sort f prescription meds but I am on 1 now. Since I started being back I the gym 4-5 days a week I feel so much better and wake up more often than not at full salute again lol where as I went the better part of a year without that happening.
This is definitely a conversation that should be more open.
Not to mention it will just make you feel slower. Low testosterone negatively impacts all areas in life.
Good luck to you on which ever choice you make 👍
@jeffbrund I wanna clarify my statement :
Due to repeated infections ( and I think can't recover ) I will probably need to start, but before anybody with like 300-400 start doing it, or let's say 240-250 , please consider changing lifestyle etc...

Hey take this how you will, im 24 and when i was 17 my father had a stroke and lost the ability to walk, talk and see from his left side or feel from his left side. -that being said we also found out he had secretly been getting TRT for 5 years with a "professional"
He was 41 (a now ex firefighter) and it was two weeks after his latest injection while at the gym.

DO IT!! I'm 56 and have been doing pellets for 6 years. It's a total life changer, Sir.
I've got an appointment next month to talk to a doc about it. Got my levels checks and I was low, work 2nd shift as a welder. Well see what they say.
Glad to see you're doing well.
Its odd to me to see so many Americans on TRT at such (what I feel is) an early age.

How do they manage your high blood counts? It's only been about 3 months for me but want to get my ducks in a row.

I am a 100% P&T and have been on test cypionate injections for over 2 years through the VA. Def can get it
I've been on TRT for about 6 years and started when I was 52, it's not perfect but it's the fountain of youth.
Those are some legit lifts Eric. Well done! You are putting in the work. 👍
I got tested with the VA for T and came back with 424 t level. They told me I don’t qualify for t-boosts because my level is considered “average”

It's good to have a baseline when you're younger. Got my first overall blood test this year to create a baseline. And plan on it for my yearly checkups.

There’s ways around them, you have to do your UA-cam research. There’s stuff out there. DO YOUR BLOOD WORK. BEFORE to get a baseline
