After the worst Halloween ever, Carly Beth assumed that nothing could be scarier than a drooling rubber mask with a mind of its own. The Haunted Mask is its name. Don't wear it out.
One year later, the ugly, green mask mysteriously calls out to her again, and ugly, green masks don't like to be ignored.
If Carly Beth can survive the night, even a terrifying amusement park like HorrorLand might seem like a vacation. Then again, maybe not . . .

This is probably the best audio book ever
Well, twisted dummy ("Who are you calling a dummy, you dummy?") Slappy aside, Carly Beth Caldwell under The Haunted Mask's dark power is everyone's favorite.
Even R.L. Stine himself cites them as his 2 favorites, so it was kind of sad that Carly Beth/Haunted Mask was reduced to behind-the-scenes promotional material, tiny blink-and-you-miss-her/it background shots within the 2015 film itself & Slappy mentioning her/it when playing an interviewed game of _Never Have I Ever_ when the question of if anyone in the 2015 film's cast had fallen for a costar on-screen, with Slappy stating, "I may or may not have a thing for The Haunted Mask, but don't spread that around."
The whole matter is really ironic, because a burning need to be loved as its host's permanent face in spite of its menacing hold over its wearer (hence it being one of The Unloved, also called The Unwanted for its new story in the _Goosebumps: Most Wanted_ book) & its aversion to its victims using symbols of love (or a knife) to remove it so it can be put back to rest, at least until the next Halloween, each show that love is the grinning goblin-like mask's greatest desire as well as its greatest weakness.
So, the following behind-the-scenes promo still of Carly Beth/Haunted Mask smooching Slappy on his wooden cheek is bit jarringly offputting since it defies what both Slappy & the hideously bulbous, sickly green mask with a smashed-in nose & a mouth of drooling fangs is meant to represent. Yet, I suppose even the worst evil needs love, too, I guess.

100 out of 10 it was that good!!!! when the person died by trying to pry it off but in reality ripping his skin of his face bleeding to death thats some real scary shit there!!

Nice. Cool that a lot of Goosebumps books are on Audible, not all of them, though. The Horrorland books ahve sounds and music, shame the classic Goosebumps ones don't.

@Kush Agrawal well yeah considering ive watched the origianal story episode on tv like 10 or more times as well as the 2nd... the calling to Carly-Beth by the haunted mask was better it sounded like it was from a distance away but still a bellowing raspy voice it had...

ok seriously: can we talk about how briliant this narrator is like its exactly how id hear Carly-Beth telling her 3rd encounter with her mask... seriosly well done choosing her!!
and the mask's voice: lets say my eyes popped out of my head and i bursted out laughing like dr maniac okay yall... seriously the mask is voiced by a raspy bellowing voice not some young girl trying to tell a scary story around the campfire with her friends!!

It’s the only thing I got out of the school library for summer reads!
Carly Beth is one of the best written characters in Goosebumps. And most memorable to any viewer of Goosebumps (because she's in every haunted mask story).
Actually Lu-Ann is a character that struggles against the haunted mask in the book WANTED THE HAUNTED MASK

So I guess that The Haunted Mask 2 never happened.
The book _The Haunted Mask II_ & the episode of the same name are completely different. The book doesn't feature the original _Haunted Mask_ whereas the episode does (quite prominently, I might add, tormenting both Carly Beth, its original host, and Steve Boswell, wearing the old man mask covered in spiders).

But if you remember the ending of the first Haunted Mask, Carly Beth's little brother, Noah, put on the mask that the shopkeeper warned Carly Beth that her or anyone else could never put it on after taking it off. It's like this story just forgets about that because Noah is just fine as Carly Beth tells the story.
Very sad mask and none of them aren't howl.
