you can not take chance with rabies. Rabies has no cure. it is a 100% fatal disease. The patient suffers a lot before dying. Rabies causes hydrophobia, aerophobia, and whatnot. even if a dog just scratches you take all doses of the antirabies vaccine. we need extra and double protection from fatal diseases. not just rabies but there are some other diseases that can spread from animals.
my dog is fully vaccinated and i still take care that he never licks my wounds and i take him to vet from time to time.

It hit myips and actually some of its chest went into my mouth as it was a medium size bat and I got scared as I found hair in my mouth and we all know bats urinate and clean themselves with saliva. So I went to hospital and took the injections
These fear are spreaded by doctors to sell vaccine ...99.98% dogs don't have rabies ..and moreover if a fog get rabies it becomes mad and don't survive more than a week ....so street dogs who keep barking runnig too much it's just normal ...they have been serviving long like that ...they don't have rabies so even if they bite you at any chance no fear ...or danger ...scare and fear in humans often results in hurting the dogs as humans thinks dogs are like snakes and they hurt them when they fear something...
