    So Joann was allegedly bring threatened by a family member who was in Law Enforcement and she turns up deceased. Later on, a potential witness claims to have seen this same family member doing something shady to a woman matching Joann's description on the day she disappeared. Somehow this witness turns up dead in his home?? I think it's pretty clear that Joann was indeed being targeted by someone and that law enforcement helped cover it up

    • @obsessedme5484
      @obsessedme5484 2 роки тому +20

      i don't think the death of the witness is realted at all considering it happened 11 years later but i agree with the rest. very shady, im fully willing to believe the person of interest, tim, was involved and JoAnn wasn't paranoid

  • @belvedere6368
    @belvedere6368 2 роки тому +32

    As someone who has a family member who has said "if anything happens to me it was x" and fully believes that to be true based off of seeing both sides, I absolutely believe that Joann had reason to be concerned about Tim harming her. Even if Tim wasn't a typically violent/threatening person, money will make people do things out of character. I also have to wonder if someone that knew Joann stole the extra pair of keys and intended to hide in her backseat/trunk and attack her. Maybe they accidentally set off the alarm as they tried to enter the car. I'd really want to know who the keys came from, there is no way the spare keys showing up the day after her death is just a coincidence.

    A car registered to Jilllian‘s daughter was parked across from the church. And within two hours, the police are asking the daughter if her mother is missing?
    I would like to know how they knew who was driving the car when it wasn’t registered to Jo Ann in the first place? apparently the car was locked, so why would the police go looking for the owner at all? That dodgy AF.

    Just a bit of a random note that makes me wonder a bit more… it’s well known (in Michigan) that during Prohibition in the United States, people would run alcohol across the frozen lake from Ontario to Detroit…
    With how shallow the water is, and given that it was January, the lake could have very well be frozen. Depending on the weather up until then the lake was probably frozen, or partially so if the ice had been broken for boat travel (but it shouldn’t have been affected near the shores…)
    In Michigan, it takes almost no time for a lake to become hard enough for ice fishing

    • @mercedesblack7828
      @mercedesblack7828 Рік тому +1

      Freezing cold water alone can incapacitate a person very quickly making it difficult to get out of the water.

      @@mercedesblack7828 my point is, how did she get into the water to begin with if said water is frozen and hard enough a person to bring all their supplies, cut a hole in the ice, and ice fish. Or, in the case of smugglers, smuggling heavy loads of alcohol across the frozen water.

    I signed the petition as soon as you told us about it at the beginning of the video. Imo whether I believe foul play or suicide because I feel the family deserves answers one way or another. Now, after watching the full video, my feelings are that it's much more than a suicide. I hope they family can get the truth an some closure Also with her being a devoted catholic suicide isn't something typical to commit,yes I know she's divorced and that too isn't typical of those of the catholic faith However suicide is a sole choice where divorce is 2 people's input.

    I have never heard of this case before - thank you for covering it.
    Seems like some dodgy law enforcement going on - so many strange things - the spare keys, the footprints, the car, the fact she disappeared in a place she was known to frequent regularly, with a handy lake nearby...

    Were there other family members angry who look like Tim? My cousin and I look so alike our children would confuse us when they were younger, my uncle has a cousin who looks so like him people think they're twins. So, the witness could have identified "Tim" but it was another family member. Which would explain his alibi checking out.

    • @ambitiously_
      @ambitiously_ 2 роки тому +18

      I think him having connections to law enforcement helped ensure his alibi would check out more than anything.
      But you might be onto something. I saw a documentary about this case with family participation and the relatives had a lot of strong resemblance to one another, especially the women. Unfortunately I don’t remember if anyone in particular looked like Tim though.

    • @Jujubee87
      @Jujubee87 2 роки тому +2

      That's one of the main things that got me thinking like one of the PIs said it would be understandable if she used her car to commit suicide but just fill it up to leave it? And the purse the strap might not break if someone was pulling at it to get a hold of her so because of the strap not being broken its suicide!? That one detective is just so sure it was suicide hes making me think he's the one trying to cover it up. I don't think it would have taken so long to find her if it was. In my opinion people who commit suicide want someone to find them. I think she was taken, someone knocked her out and threw her in the water and she ended up drowing and then moved the car back to make it look like she went in somewhere else to give time for evidence to wash off the body because they were looking somewhere completely different. You are so right Michael something doesn't seem right.

    Cover up. Bad Policing is usually very helpul for a coverup. That "Dry Drowning" sounds like something invented just for coverups. I wonder what the details of the inheritance were? No CCTV mentioned I know it was 2010 but there were lots of cameras about even then. Another great case study there Georgia.

    regarding the 'can't drown' theory.... one can't forget hypothermia. Drowning or not, one submerged in that cold water would succumb to hypothermia in as little as 10-15 minutes. Look at the Titanic deaths.... nearly all of them didn't drown, as they were wearing life preservers. All of them died of hypothermia.

    I am wondering, (And perhaps I missed it, apologies) who discovered the vehicle? Could it have been for example the parish priest or a fellow regular parishioner that noticed it and thought it unusual JoAnn's vehicle was still there?
    I have walked distances from a parking lot to the lake when we have been ice fishing, with heavy winter boots. I highly doubt JoAnn would have traversed that distance in heels.
    As for the footprints, I just listened to retired crime scene detective Ed Wallace explain on DutyRon how they take impressions in the snow. (He was discussing the Idaho case)
    He stated they use the same product dentists use when taking impressions in their clinics. So absolutely those footprints could have been preserved.

    Just a suggestion here. My husband was prescribed steroids for a skin rash on his face. He had a bad reaction to the steroids, never having taken them before. He was paranoid and couldn't sleep, I had to admit him to the hospital until the steroids were out of his system. There are also athletes who start taking steroids and kill their families and themselves, all due to steroid use. It's possible this woman was prescribed steroids.

    Just watched this case on unsolved mysteries on Netflix! I was very suspicious of her cousin. The fact that she even said to her kids if anything happened to her, it was probably because of him. It’s also interesting how he is also in the police force. Could he be getting covered? It’s always very disappointing on behalf of a police department when they brush off a death as just suicide, And continuously tell the family members to just accept it was a “suicide”, even though clear facts state otherwise!

      True…but I honestly thought her brother seemed kinda weird in the Netflix episode when he said I don’t think they meant to kill her maybe only scare her….idk he just seemed off or like he knew more..then the next few scenes talked about how he owed a lot of money so it kinda makes sense if someone was angry and came after her to get at him. His also said something along the lines of well maybe that happened but it wouldn’t be my fault was also an odd thing to say. Idk that’s just what I got from it…who knows 😢

    I have to chuckle when I hear Georgia say that it is so cold in the UK at the moment. Where I live in Canada, we just came out of two weeks of daytime highs being in the -30s, and nighttime lows into the -40s, close to -50. That won't be the last of those temps this winter either, we will dip down like that for weeks yet before the end of February.
    We also have approx 3 feet of snow, and there will be more of that yet as well! 🥶

    I lean on the side of her having some kind of mental/psychotic break and walking into the water (probably not suicide though). Think about it, if someone was trying to kill you by throwing g you into a freezing cold lake wouldn’t you have a hell of a lot more than a bruise on your arm? No you’d fight like hell. Also the paranoia beforehand, fights w multiple family members, and even her religious obsession -all clear signs. I saw my grandfather go through it. He was a completely normal, mentally healthy man and in a weeks time started becoming paranoid, became obsessed with religion and religious rituals and seemed to be immune from physical pain during his bout of psychosis. She could have thought she was “baptizing” herself and had to endure the pain like Jesus endured the cross (all similar things to what my grandpa did). Just as an example…So it sounds crazy to us, but to a diseased mind not working properly it’s not that strange. Also, to think that an entire police department was in on some big conspiracy to commit murder of a middle aged woman? Pretty far fetched. I’m no police apologist, trust me, but these are men and women with their own lives, families, livelihoods and this day and age getting away with murder is not that easy (even for cops). I have a hard time believing all these officers would put their lives and freedom on the line to get rid of some innocent old lady. Either way it’s a strange case, but if you really break it down and look at it from a logical POV, it seems most likely that it was a tragic “accident” due to a woman’s failing mental state.

      @lynncrf 2 роки тому +5

      Good points. However that doesn't explain why they showed up at the daughter's house saying the car was missing even though it wasn't registered to her at all. Also junior police members have to do what they are told and may not know what their bosses are covering up.
