@@GregSmithIIIthe manga was another ending author change because so much people complain about the protagonist dying, the anime done before the manga as it take it time and that why the author can still change it, that how the current manga ending exist, obviously the anime one can't be fully fleshed out like the manga because of the time limit, so i can say the anime one was more canon according to author original story in his head. The manga more to fanon.
