I live in Miami. My friend has a de-humidifier. It’s kinda cool it stores the water in a little container so you can see how much moisture it’s taken out of the air.
To be fair this fits in line with the living under a mountain narrative with bae. But also not everyone would even know this anyways. Alot of self care is not really talked about as much as people think.
Australian rat questioning why you would want to make a place *more* humid rather than less. Honestly it's the worst part of summer, I can take a 40C day but as soon as it's 25C and 99% humid like it is now I'm just dying.
My guess is that since you're talking/singing a lot, that involves more air flow over the vocal cords so they can get dry, higher humidity air will reduce that issue. Also it's indoors, so temp controlled and no direct heat from the sun.
I'd just like to say something about the exessive use of humidifiers: be careful if you use them that much. High humidity combined with cold walls or cold bridges in the insulation of your home is a guarantee for mould. So be careful that you don't humidify your vocal chords and mucous membranes while destroying the rest of your health.
Yeah it's funny hearing a humidifier being recommended, despite for the obvious reason of throat care, because where I live everyone's recommending dehumidifiers since it's so humid and cold in this country instead.
Also, and I promise I'm not making this up: If you have hard water, ultrasonic humidifiers disperse tiny particles of electrically conductive minerals along with the water droplets. They can't harm _you,_ but if enough of them build up over time, they can really do a number on any electronics in the room...
What i'm hearing is that my throat is in perfect shape and i should be a singer. Yeah i do live in an extremely humid place (with extreme mist in autumn and winter and unbreathable air in the summer), how could you tell?
Proper PC setup can operate way above 50% humidity at room and higher temperature with not problems. They do not run humidifiers at 80-100% humidity... hope so...
That level of humidity doesn't damage electronics. Vapor or it's condensation are not conductive. In fact humidifiers are used in server rooms to increase cooling capabilities of air conditioning and to lower the risk of electrostatic discharge.
@@mindaugasstankus5943 Modern electronics are less sensitive than that. You can reference Apple Support's page for environmental operating requirements for a Mac laptop. It says a Mac laptop should be used in an environment with 0-95% noncondensing humidity. For an nvidia GPU going by their product papers, you can go up to 85% humidity (or up to 93% humidity short term).
Macs have an operating humidity of 0-95% and nVidia gpus have an operating humidity of 5-85%. It would take active effort to run full air saturation to cause damage.
Drinks and stuff won't really do much for your vocal cords (aside from general hydration/nutrition and _maybe_ helping with temperature) since it goes down the other pipe. I could see inhalers or similar having some effect maybe.

Oof. I don't care how healthy humidity is... having grown up in south Florida (where it is very humid all year long), I have had enough humidity for life and I love being in dry areas now. Though part of that may be that I tend to get sinus headaches when it gets humid.

Right now, the weather is cold, and the humidity in my room is just 40%. I love it! I wish it could stay like this all year. I would buy dehumidifier if it's not so expensive.
Well, yeah. Humidifiers are like moisture released to or forming in the air to soothe a dry or scratchy throat when not drinking water. Honestly I did not know that either because my room has a purifier, not a humidifier and I tend to drink plenty of water. And let us not forget that Mikochi did not add water to her humidifier. And here I was, thinking that she already had a good voice for singing... Really?
