The Leica + Ektar combo is God Tier photography right there man 🔥 you’ve made some absolutely beautiful shots. That Kiosk wide shot was fantastic. Also your wife has such a great eye for black and white. I’m going to have to bring the tiny human and my wife to Bamburg one day, it’s beautiful man.
thank you brendon! On the trip I had even the whole time my mamiya RB with but only with the 127mm which was always too long for each individual motif. That might have been even better than the M6. Immediately afterwards I bought the 65mm lens that I do not carry around another 3KG for nothing :D My wife is a natural with B&W. D If you are in germany then definitely check out bamberg. I can not recommend much but it's really worth it.
Thanks Jay! The umbrella picture is one of my favorites too. I even wanted to print it and put it in the empty picture frame which is always behind me. I was but imemr too lazy for it :D
Dude, you made so many good photos in this video! I think my favorites are the ones of the Cafe Rondo and the one of the Porsche! Great mix of color, B&W, film, & Digital! Ektar is soooo good! I've got a few trips coming up and you have inspired me to get a few more rolls of that beautiful 100 speed film!
thanks bro! i was also absolutely surprised how good ektar looks. it's a whole other class compared to kodak gold. Not even my Nokton has enough resolving power for this film. 😄 Deien Ektar pictures were also always excellent!
Hehe actually I have not noticed yet. Normally, one does not even think about such names. D I even ran a few times past the porsche without noticing it. 😅 thank you for the comment.
yes that also pleased me. In Germany, the mask rules are really relaxed in the summer. Therefore, no one here has one on. good for my photos :D thanks for your comment. 💪
Interesting even with the saturated Ektar you keep your lower contrast, pastel color palette. Only in the photo of the antique shop did you allow higher contrast and deeper colors. Nice how you used Ektar. Your wife has a great eye and he BW pre-set has stronger contrast. Tell her I enjoy her ‘eye’. You did a great job here.
Thank you, Ektar has so much lattitude in the highs that it is a dream to work with. In the sun I like to overexpose but in indoor spaces like this antique store it looks quite strange if I overexpose that much. Just gave her the compliment. she is happy. :D thanks for the comment.
hey man love your videos I rarely comment but do enjoy :) I have a question do you have any link to the background music you used? also as a Side note I record and play similar style of guitar music (acoustic /electric) if it could be of any use to you I'd love to send some for you to use on the videos
Thanks for watching my videos and for the comment today. 💪 Sure I can give you. The artist is Chris Haugen here is a playlist: ua-cam.com/video/1aixdZB9zeM/v-deo.html
so pretty!! Really enjoyed this and putting this place on my travel list :) :) Loved the Ektar photos, the preset looks really nice, and of course the black and white images are always lovely!
This video is giving me the travel bug 😆 I wanna visit Europe again! Also, love your photos, really clean and bright colours + composition on point! I love ektar too, I want it on ISO 400 and 800 😂 cheers, Daniel
Haha thanks bon, yes the evil travel bug. D There are many beautiful cities in Europe but many are not so interesting from their urban structure. Bamberg is really an exception. An Ektar 400 variant would be great but that will probably no longer exist. unfortunately. :D
Schöner Stadtspaziergang mit einigen tollen Aufnahmen. Gerade zu dieser Jahreszeit finde ich Ektar sehr passend. Mein Eindruch ist das die Bilder alle leicht überbelichtet sind. War das Absicht ?
I've shot a lot of medium format Ektar and was surprised at the over exposed and washed out colors in this photo shoot. Most of my Ektar has very bold, nice colors. Where you overexposing on purpose or did you scan and increase exposure by a full stop? Nice photos all around. You wife takes some really nice shots too.
It was all deliberate the way I wanted it. I actually have a whole tutorial series on my workflow with detailed instructions if you are interested. In a nutshell it is but I overexpose ektar +1 and expose for the shadows so there is no loss of information in the shadows. In post I set it more or less the way you saw it in the video. I like it just the way it is but yes it is a matter of taste. ✌️
hiiiiii i just wanted to say amazing video!!! I've only shot Ektar on 120 and never 35mm so i guess now im going to have to load up my xa on my next trip :))) Btw, when looking at at the preset it says that it doesnt work for any other brand, is this not an XMP file or was it specifically tested only on fuji? I was thinking of still picking it up and if it doesnt work out then i'd be happy knowing i bought you a coffee or another roll of Ektar :)
Yes try Ektar it really is a fantastic film! Yes the preset is adapted to fuji cameras because you need a certain color profile that ensures that the colors I set are exactly as they should be. That is very nice that you want to buy it but I advise against it because you can not use it at all. It will simply be grayed out. :D
actually, it's the other way around. D It's the perfect camouflage. lol The mesites just think you're a simple tourist and even if you "discover" me you don't assume anything bad. After all, you have your wife and dog with you. :D
The main thing I remember from Bamberg is police cars everywhere all the time every day. Did you Photoshop them out? Someone told me it was because Bamberg has a police school
Certainly you have! It’s not that they are not beautiful, but it’s side by side. And probably we were there almost at the same time, I visited both cities ten days ago. Wonderful!
@@jonnybamberg5692 oh interesting. There are many double cities here in Germany and the USA. However, our family names are not named after cities, but rather after professions. That changed with the immigrants back then. Maybe your ancestors came from the original bamberg, built the new bamberg and then created their family name.

Haha, of course I could not have just go to the most beautiful city without saying which one it is. D But watch out there is also a bamberg in the united states :D
I appreciate your feedback, and while I do like my photos to be bright and vibrant, I understand that it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Perhaps I'll experiment with different exposure settings in the future to see if I can find a happy medium.

You have a lovely polite manner, a beautiful voice, and the most gorgeous eyes. New subscriber, super nice video.

Ektar 100 is my fave #1 color film, but for (economical) reasons, i do use Pro Image 100 as substitute quite often.
