Robert Engel so little real talent these days . It is just cookie cutter till people can find someone to make money off of, and when there is someone of real talent they loose their integrity

Voices harmonizing is about the best thing in the world, regardless of if it's country, Motown or random folks singing together. Just so happens that these folks are some of the best at doing it.

...geezus...something so ethereal about GIllian...so earthy about Dave...she the angel, he the mechanic...she untouchable, he the guy next door...these two people are so damned genuine...might ALL true loves love this way...and might EVERYONE make this kind of music in their own way...wow...

My goodness. I've listened to many, many versions of this song, done by many, many very able vocalists.
Gillian is up there with the very best: Patsy Cline, Judith Durham, Alison Krauss...

Somewhere in time there is a man who helped make this great singer/songwriter in a seventeen year old girl. His brief pleasure produced one of the true treasures of country music for our time and he undoubtedly never knew it. But, we do and so does Dave. Glad they found each other to thrill us with their beautiful and meaningful tones.

What is a tag? I didn't understand that.

    • @richardlam3109
      @richardlam3109 3 роки тому +3

@@martinrheaume5393 a tag is a musical term for repeating the last line of a song at the end, to make it feel like a conclusion. A "typical" way to end this song would be to tag the last line of the song by repeating it, and ending back on the I chord, the major chord that is the home base of the key. The V chord, the chord based on the 5th note of the scale, typically leads back to the I chord, and as listeners we expect the I chord to follow the V. By ending the whole song leaving the V chord hanging in the air, they literally don't "complete the circle", musically.

Absolute confluence of art and ultimate reality. The wellspring from which all good music flows and from which all bluegrass originates from undoubtedly. Any deviance might be classified in the same genre but incrementally strays from in technique but ultimately, and most importantly, from the soul from which it was intended. Bluegrass as well as root blues music strip away the bullshit that modern music suffocates under in a way that speaks to the heart and not the impulse of everyday life. Whether it be ephemeral worldly concerns or momentary fades it cuts to the heart which no one can deny regardless of era.

I was standing by the window
On one cold and cloudy day
When I saw the hearse come rolling
For to carry my mother away
    Will the circle be unbroken?
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky
    I said to the undertaker
    Undertaker please drive slow
For this lady you are carrying
Lord, I hate to see her go
    Will the circle be unbroken?
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky
Oh, I followed close behind her
Tried to hold up and be brave
But I could not hide my sorrow
When they laid her in the grave
    Will the circle be unbroken?
Bye and bye Lord, bye and bye
    There's a better home awaiting
In the sky Lord, in the sky

T Bone Burnett is an American record producer, musician, and songwriter. As producer of the soundtrack O Brother, Where Art Thou?, he renewed interest in American roots music. He received a Grammy Award for that album, for the soundtracks Cold Mountain (2004), Walk the Line (2006), Crazy Heart (2010), and for Raising Sand (2007), in which he united the contemporary bluegrass of Alison Krauss with the blues rock of Robert Plant.
