Dakota river bend to me is the most beginner friendly, they have good controller support, simple easy to use menus, and a very high population to interact with.
Your review helped me so much! I mostly play on controller rather than keyboard when I play red dead and I was hoping it would be the same for RP servers but unfortunately not so much. Definitely will look into Dakota river!
Aw 💛 appreciate the shout out! syn is definitely on the casual side (especiallyyyy when compared to Wild) but I've had tons of great character based rp, any rp server is what you bring to it! It's also been whitelisted for a bit now.
As a new RedM player, Western Skies RP has been pretty nice. They are very helpful and staff is pretty chill. The only negative experience I had on the server was that I got banned for five minutes because they thought I was a wizard (modder) but they reinstated it after a few minutes and were very apologetic about it. People in the server are pretty friendly and helpful. It is also dominantly a server with a lot of people from the UK, as it is a UK server, as they use Celsius and Kilograms instead of the systems that us Americans use. Highly recommend checking it out.

You should try the Winchester inn.. currently known as (Winchester 1866) very friendly very helpful welcoming serious rp always improving always listening to their community lots of cool stories.
It’s so overwhelming finding a “right server” there are so many and all people recommend different servers. It’s difficult to know which got best features and so on… stressfull
you just have to try them out man and figure it out yourself as peoples experiences can vary drastically and servers are constantly changing. The only way to ever get into rp is to just give it a go and if you have a bad time try another server.

Syn County is a streamer server friendly County. If you beef streamer and have one rule break, you're banned. But the streamers can do whatever they want

In my experience with Syn County, they are a lot less roleplay focused. I enjoyed my time there, however me and pretty much everyone I met stopped playing. They just cater more towards being a criminal like Zez said, and in-depth genuine roleplay is less of their style. Me and a buddy were told we couldnt continue using one of our characters because their roleplay was too in-depth more or less.

Dakota River Bend is super friendly, and more casual. That’s not to say it’s only light RP, or that you can’t be a hardcore RPer, it’s just more forgiving than some other places.
The mechanics themselves are more casual, giving more room to concentrate on social interactions. The community is amazing.

@@RimmaJenkinsDoesn’t affect your ability to play RDO. RedM runs as an entirely different application on your PC. Just close out of RedM and load up RDO whenever you like

I do love the idea of rping typical cowboy stuff but I also kinda want some of that rare Easter egg side stuff from the base game where you can find creepy serial killer gore art, gangs with disturbing scenes at their camp and maybe even light supernatural elements like the swamp ghost girl or the whispering woods or ghost train or the spooky pentagram under the house in butchers creek
Not saying I want full on undead nightmare btw but maybe some fun little random events or some bounties or something
Ranch Roleplay is my favorite but Dakota River Bend is a close second!
You should talk about crossroads its a small sever but its has great people and good roleplayers and custom scripts

As a twitch viewer of WildRP, I can confirm the standard of RP is extremely high, with a huge percentage of the Wild population being streamers as well.
It's amazing being able to see the same encounter from multiple perspectives. If (for example) a bank robbery is taking place you can normally see it from both a Crim in the bank perspective, and a LEO's who is responding to the robbery - which just adds sooo much excitement and entertainment as a viewer.
I honestly have stopped watching TV since discovering WildRP streamers - It's better than most TV shows.
Only problem is you need a $300+ mic to even apply. i understand not allowing headset microphones but denying people for damn near flawless studio mics because they didn't cost enough dabloons is cringe
@@Lokokid0 Well as Zez said in his video, WildRP is more of an experienced rp'ers server. I think it's fair to say that most people would easily spend $300 on a hobby/pastime, especially if it's something they will get alot of use out of.
An Xbox controller is like $65, A game is about the same... I feel quite confident in saying that everyone that reads this comment will spend $300+ on a pastime this year, so in that context getting a decent mic isn't really that much of a hardship.

Dakota River Bend is really nice. But during peak times there are a 25 player queue now. It's definitely a great server.

I visited Syn yesterday. I enjoyed a couple dozen people standing around doing nothing. It was unusual.
If I get RedM, will it be like playing the original online mode? I have the game but just never tried online yet. I want to experience it with my friends when they get it
Since the online version stopped getting updates, I would fare to say RP servers have more features than the online version

Forgotten Trails is one of the top servers on the list and you didn't even mention that one been playing on it for a year and it's been one of the best servers I've ever been on

I think you can get away with just using online for all of them though expect some silly none game breaking bugs to ensue

I think what the he failed to realize is that the servers he provides. Are some of the more popular servers based upon player count. And generally all of these servers with higher player counts. Usually take the back seat and it draws in the casual RPers. For example most of these servers he lists except Wild RP. Are all Semi-Serious in nature in regards to their RP. And some of them are worse they feel like Read Dead Online but with no KOS rules is all. If you care about serious RP I'd look elsewhere to some of the starting servers. Also pro tip any server that offers any Pay to Win mechanic is garbage and should be avoided. There was a server named Yellowstone RP where this happened. The owner had is own in game currency where you can buy these coins with real life money. Also another pro tip, if the server is not a good one. Is to analyze the dialogue between your conversations and others. If they use verbage or lingo from our time and they are always OOC. Do not waste your time and leave. Its better to join a server with 30-40 people in it then a full one. Especially if the RP is awesome!

So most of these servers are based in America right? I'm assuming joining them from Europe is out of the question and will result in super-high, unplayable ping? If so, are any of these servers Europe based or are there any good ones in Europe?
Most of the European servers are language specific. There are some UK servers out there too. I wouldn’t let Ping stop you from trying the US servers.

Would love to play on some US servers but they are all limited to 18+, im 15 but i have 3.5K hours in RP and 1K in rdr2 RP

You should have a look in to YellaBelly rp. Great servers lot of opportunities great player base and staff.
Yellabelly used to be a decent server and Papa Gene was such a fun guy to RP and work with but Morrow (the other owner) and their head admin - ApacheHuntress/Autum Johnson/Summer Spring/Lydia; uses her abilities to do whatever she wants. Just need to read the reviews and there's enough information about that
When it comes to RP it's self wild takes #1. Ranch has gone soft whitelisted, peak hours the queue can be awhile.

all of these servers are Very strict and non-beginner friendly, so i wouldnt call any of them "casual" i got denied from most of them just because i dont know what something means and im not allowed to ask

No because RedM as a whole is 18+, just like rdr2 is 18+ due to its gore, shooting, abuse, sex. etc.

Dakota River Bend has a posse system, and friends list integrated. The posse system can only be used during certain tasks, but it's being worked on to match the RDO style posses.
Syn County sucks if you don't want to be an outlaw. They also don't allow a lot of character builds. You also get experienced players preying on new players. The moderators are unwilling to do their job, insisting hilarious things like not being able to see if you are in a safe zone unless you submit a screen cap video.

As a point of constructive criticism I think you would greatly benefit from slowing your pace of speaking and maybe talk in more of an average range of pitch as well. Hope this feedback helps.

Are there any decent non or mild RP servers? RP isn't really my thing but I could speak in a way as to not break immersion for others but I don't want to HAVE to partake in your shenanigans.
I'm looking for a server that focuses on period accurate economy, NO GRIEFING!
I'm trying to bypass R'stars grind and restrictiveness in RDO but I don't want to trade it for a different form of restrictiveness that RP servers can force on players.
Dakota River Bend sounds similar (in this video) to what I'm looking for but, from my research they changed to more restrictive RP.
I want to be left alone in my immersion until I warm up to the idea of joining others.
I feel exactly the same. I tried DRB, and it seemed okay until I realized RP is now required. I want to take the game seriously and avoid cheaters and nonsense on vanilla online, but I don't necessarily want to have to follow rules about when and where I'm allowed to rob an NPC or something, or not be allowed to fight back if I'm robbed by more than two people. It's immersion breaking and just dumb. I wish there was a good server with light RP, but relatively limited rules to allow for a less regimented and drab gameplay.
I've been looking for a server for a couple of weeks. I just don't want to RP and be voice chatting to people I don't know. I just want to enjoy the game and be a part of a community without having to VC with people. I just want to be playing as myself. I'm finding RP servers are very exclusive which to be isn't a good thing.

Good video. One thing you forgot to mention on all of them is what is actually required to play on their server. Like GoldRush you need TeamSpeak to be able to play on it. You also said something that there isn't any issues on GoldRush, but you do "complain" about a lot of the bad things on the server, like the horse management, which I've seen in your streaming is a real big pain to have to deal with.
You didn't mention Yellowstone RP. I played on there for a few months and they had some really good rp happening. They have a -huge- population and there is always a queue to get into it at all times of day. Looks like they currently have only 160 slots for players. They use to have over 200. Been gone a long time, so know sure what has happened on there. But they have a great community and they have a lot of options for jobs. I tried to become a bounty hunter and it isn't so cut and dry for this job. You have to try and find someone on the server that is a bounty hunter and ask them on how to become one. Again, not an easy task. I followed all the "leads" I was given in game and just could not find one. Then I just happen to be hunting buffalo up around the Emerald Ranch (there is a house WNW of the ranch, around the "A" from New Hanover on the map) and I saw a person riding along with someone tied up on the back of the horse. I thought the non-tied up person was a bounty hunter, so I asked. Turns out the person was just a horse trainer and they were training the horse they were riding. I kept hunting in that location and eventually I was approached by the owner of the house not to kill the "cow" that appeared outside their house as it was "their" cow. I said I wouldn't and we got to talking with this person, who was the "son" of the horse rider (horse trainer) the previous day. We got to talking and he is the son of the head of the bounty hunter guild and he was also a part of it, but the side job of border patrol (at the time, they didn't have any kind of major bridge across the river, just ferries and they were just starting to add Mexico stuff). The wife said her husband was out of county and she would give him my telegram. She also gave me some information on what horse I should get that would help in that profession and she also gave me insight on getting a ranch hand job at the Caliga Hall ranch. I worked down there for a little bit and finally got a telegram from the husband. I replied back and I never got a telegram back from him. I had been telegramming the wife about getting a horse trained and never got an email back from her either. I tried "camping" up at their house for a while, but saw no one. The owner for the Caliga ranch had not heard from the wife in some time. I eventually "broke" rp and texted someone that was listed as a bounty hunter on the discord channel and they had not heard from the head of the bounty hunter guild in some time. So, I eventually just gave up and stopped playing for that and that the wait list for getting into the server was just too long for my short time I had to play.

I played syn county for awhile and I mean awhile, it was a good server for awhile but the owner and the moderator are the most corrupt I've seen in any of other server, the staff constantly abuse their power while the owner just lets it happens, if you're not friends with any of the staff, and you either kill them or rob them, they will retaliate with either a ban or some sort of punishment. Everyone else is pretty cool and the rp can be good but the staff are the major downside. 3/10

basically every RedM server is 18+, yes it’s annoying but without snitching, I know MANY people who play Goldrush, Ranch an etc who are 14-16, just put on a voice changer and a voice, and be mature
