this game is pure nostalgia for me. I lend my 3ds to my girlfriend and I was happy we played this game. She even surpassed my rank but I'm glad she got into this game because we play MHW together. such fun times

@@ItsNergantethey should do the same they did in world, have the main quest separate from others quests and event, and keep the investigation a as this were infinite (also give them a twist like a specific objective)
Despite its flaws, I think GU is still my favorite Monster Hunter of all time.

What are the main flaws? I'm getting bored of rise so I was thinking about getting it
@@rustyshackleford9336 One of the main things is that alot of the old monsters felt like they were copied and pasted from previous games with not too much care put into rebalancing them or fixing hitboxes. I didn't like the way equpiment was handled for deviants either. One armor set required a ton of grinding.

As someone who still plays through 3U and 4U every year, I will say I don’t enjoy Gen U mechanically as much, as well as disliking the solo and the bloat, but damn it feels good watching vids like this and seeing how crisp the game actually looks. Huge fan of the map variety too
Also your editing holy shit haha, the Undyne section is very well made
fair lol, it def gets a bit anime-y at times. The thing I enjoy most (second to the combat) is monster variety, you simply cant find it anywhere else. Ty for the kind words!

4U is crispier though? Im definitely having more fun with CB/LS in GU than 4U though.
@@JayceCH. just the visuals, frame rate, the colours really pop, and the animations while over the top are very clean and smooth

My favourite monster hunter, I enjoyed this more than rise+sunbreak, and I have 500 hrs on them.

I wanted to start playing this again!! I have been playing monster hunter world and rise but started out playing monster hunter 2 on the psp . I have played this one before but it’s been awhile and wanted to get back into it
I realise that all the alternative moves in Rise for all weapons all came from this masterpiece (that I never played unfortunately but not for long 😉)
hell yea, it was cool seeing some of them return, albeit without the oomph they had in GU (bring back moonbreaker pls)
Ideas for World movesets came from GU's Hunter Arts too.
I need to see more fails compilations. People just constantly playing effortlessly does get a tad boring to watch
I used to main valor LS as well until the day I discovered Adept GS. Since then I just could not switch to anything else for long beside Adept GS 😆. Adept CB is cool as well

Rise was the first MH game I actually sat down for. Having previously played 4U and XX for a total of ten hours across both. That said, my 700+ hours in Rise had convinced me to start going back and playing older games.
World. It's boring to me ngl. But THIS. Monster Hunter Double Cross is fucking sick.
I definitely understand World feeling boring to some. Glad you are enjoying your time with Double Cross/GU! I really hope that for the next entry we get some combination of the styles from GU and switch skills from rise. Combined these would be by far the most fun and dynamic combat system!

i bought it a few days ago cuz it was on 90% on sale so i said why not ? but GOD DAMN ITS HARD its harder than rise ; world
True lol, and not just in the combat sense, gathering and traversal is far more tedious. I needed a few guides to get into it but besides that its quite enjoyable :)
I used to love using limit breaker and valor charge blade to spam 10 phial SAEDs.
Too bad SAED sucks in GU

Been playing so much GU lately. Still tons of people playing online. It's still great and you don't have to deal with any dumb clutch claws or wirebugs 😅
Clutch claw was dumb wire bugs were great and flowed very well with the combat and allowed you to do some very cool combos.

@@Colton42-d7byeah tbh whirebugs are like an evolution of clutch claw cuz you can use them anywhere. And that movement freedom is amazing.
I have to say tho I do miss the hunter arts and hunting styles. Brave style hammer was my favorite. I wish we could mix the best of GU and rise into 1 game.
What's wrong with cc, the early state is definitely terrible, but since the fatalis update and cc got buffed combined with shaver jewel, its totally become fine, at least it not tedious anymore because you will do it like 2-3 times each hunt at most,

if ya feel like it you can use set up the Rjujinx switch emulator on PC, thats how I first got into the game, a bit of a hassle though.

When you are in valor mode with longsword your first spirit attack (r1/r2 attack) can parry. This is separate from the parry art :)
It definitely is, However i wish i own a switch, the emulator is pretty much dead, soloing the end game content is just not fun anymore (hypers and deviants 😬) so i spent more time on mhw and rise on pc.
yea, I def feel you on that. I managed to solo the Chaos Oil III quest but man did that sour my enjoyment of the game a while. And I cant really find any lobbies willing to do Bloodbath V which sucks but is ultimately understandable since its just one-shot city. Hope you are enjoying SunRise and WorldBorne though!
Online is still very active on the switch. There are still new players trying GU out and a lot more doing deviant content as far as I’ve seen in the past 3 years

GU is better than rise and I played Rise first
I still play it to this day! Still not done with all optionals and hub quests but I want to 100% the game 🫡
